I thought Cinderella's dress was the most beautiful thing ever. It's quite sad to see it again - the one in my head is much better! Reminesce here at the Ladybird books site

What a great blast from the past! Looking through there, my sister and I had a lot more than I remembered. Unfortunately my parents (who are usually notorious hoarders) seem to have got rid of most things from my childhood.

My faves were The Discontented Pony and The Muscians of Bremmen. My sister loved The Big Pancake!

My favourite was Chicken Licken - the sky is going to fall down.

I made my dad read that to me all the time and then make up another story to follow it.

I remember having quite a lot of the ladybird books and decided last year to start buying them all again, so far I only have the Cinderella book, but definitely going to start up my collection.

First time I've tried to post a picture how do you do it?

My fave was Sleeping Beauty and the Emperors New Clothes.

I remember the images inside the front cover and would spend ages working out the different fairy tales they represented.

I remember these. What's the story where she goes to the ball in 3 different dresses and they each fit into a walnut or something like that. Each dress is more beautiful than the previous, I remember the gold dress. Have I got my fairytales mixed up?

Wished I'd kept all my ladybird books too.

Tiptoes was my favourite ever story as a child - I was another one that read it to tatters. When I left home I sneaked back for my (rather battered) copy of this to stop my younger siblings destroying it along with the rest of my stuff. I still have it, kept in my special safe place.

I still love this story, so much so that I called my first cat Tiptoes - luckily, she turned out to be female - although she has lived up to her namesake!?

I'm amazed to find other people loved it too, whenever I've mentioned it in conversation before, no-one's even heard of it

So did Cinderella go to 3 balls then? Why would she have 3 dresses - each more beautiful than the previous?
