In case you haven't yet finalised your DJ, there are a few DJs that serve the London area here on Hitched https://www.hitched.co.uk/wedding-music-and-djs/london/

including myself. I'm on the suppliers list for The Amadeus and have performed a few weddings there, including more this year so please do get in touch if I can be of help.

Someone also mentioned The Hempel hotel; apart from being a beautiful hotel, this is also a great place for the wedding reception, although isn't too big, but would work well for smaller affairs.

Oh how funny my mum knows the manager and he gave her discount too his names Parin so if hes the one you see, u know he has the power to cut prices lol. The only thing that put me off was that the function room and ceremony room were the same room, and its upstairs so I was worried guests would be constantly going out for fags or enjoying the sunshine and the party room would look empty! We viewed glenmore the day after though and we preferred it and it was cheaper even with the discount we were offered. the advantage it does have though is the outside area its really nice and made some lovely photos

Let us know what you think of it. Remember to ask to see what the room looks like when the lights are turned down if you're going to have a disco in there during the evening - some rooms just don't have the right background lighting

I have not played in there before but it is something I always recommend checking out in all new venues - it's not something that will make or break your decision to book a venue but it is worth asking to see what the room looks like with the lights lowered/dimmed/turned off - some venue have very basic lighting controls they are either all on or all off or you have to have one row of lighting on all the time which can spoil the ambience - you will be in the room for 4-5 hours with the 'lights down low' as the song goes - so its worth seeing what you are getting. If it doesnt look great maybe ask your DJ to supply some uplighting in their to compliment your colour scheme. If you have mums with small children attending then an area with a bit more lighting might be appreciated.

    Congratulations to you, Friya.

Being a wedding photographer, I hear about lots of good suppliers. Off the top of my head I'd recommend http://rosalindmillercakes.com/ for her wonderful cakes (obviously). Have a look at her website they really are gorgeous. Also http://www.artfoundhelen.com/ for wedding gifts and things. And for photography, you could do far worse than moi!! check out my website below.

Good luck to you at this exciting time...

    Guy

Hello London brides, just a quick question which I didn't want to make a new post for. Do any of you know any decent and biggish wedding fairs coming up soon? The couple I've been to have been really small so I don't want to waste mine and my BMs time if theyre not going to be useful, but if I had my way I'd be at fairs every weekend :-)

Theres a couple this weekend, one at the holiday inn at sutton and one at crystal palace stadium, I'm guessing the crystal palace one would probably be bigger. Anyone been to either before? Thanks!

Wow, at last, a thread for London brides - long has it been awaited and long may it last!

I am happy to share the names and details of two suppliers who I think are fab - a violinist and pianist called Simon Jordan who played for my friend's wedding and is just the most versatile and friendliest musician you could ever meet. He'll play whatever you want him to play. His website is celebratewithmusic.co.uk. There's also a terrific photographer, based in Oxfordshire but commuting into London, called David Bostock. He's at thebridalphotographer.co.uk. They are both working at my wedding, I can hardly wait!

Bee26, I went to a wedding fair at Holiday Inn Sutton last year. While I would never even think of having my wedding in that venue (the ceremony room actually stunk!) I found it a useful source of inspiration and price-comparison. More of the latter, but I'm like that!

Some of the best wedding fayres I have been to in that area (and exhibited at in the past) are the Croydon Aerodrome Hotel (now called the Hallmark Hotel), Addington Palace and Fairfields Halls - these fayres all had a lots of suppliers present, and a really diverse range from quirky to traditional. I think the events have taken place for this year - but there may be another Addington Palace one soon, as the organisers say "Date to be confirmed".

https://luxuryweddingshow.co.uk/ There is a few of these coming up at various locations in London. I found a free entry code on another site the code is IAMSTAGGERED not sure if it still works.

I went to the last one at the Landmark and was great fun and got a free goody bag and champagne.

Also so an add for these the other day http://www.silverlinedweddingshows.co.uk/ with some upcoming London dates.

Thanks for tips ladies. There's also one on Sunday at shepperton studios which seems quite big but don't know if can be bothered to drive that far. I'm probably gonna go to the crystal palace one, I'll report back if it's any good!

    Hello! *waves*

So happy to see a London Bride thread! I'm getting married 3 May 2013 a church in Blackheath and then a reception at Charlton House in Greenwich.

So far I've booked the church, the venue, bought my dress (!) and will probably send out Save the Dates in May (as we're getting married on a bank holiday Friday people will need to take the day off work).

I'm still in the early stages of planning and finding suppliers. Thank God for Hitched!

    Congratulations Bride 123!!!

I hope your planning is going well. Feedback I get from brides usually indicates that there seems a mountain to climb, but by keeping chipping away, it all comes together fairly easily and surprisingly quickly...

Which church are you getting married in in Blackheath? The All Saints Church on the heath is lovely and I'd love to shoot there...

Have a look at my Weddings FAQ page at https://www.guymilnes.com/wedding-photographer-london/ as this may help answer some of your wedding photography questions.

Hope it helps and good luck,

    Guy

    Thank you Guy!

I'm getting married at St Mary's church just opposite the station in Cresswell Park road. It's not as grand as All Saints Church (which is lovely!) but my church is a lot smaller but still as beautiful especially inside..

It does look lovely. You're so lucky to be getting married in such a lovely area as Blackheath. Lots of great opportunity for some fantastic posed and natural photography. I've covered summer weddings at the Blackheath Halls and Mycenae House, both of which are lovely. Have heard good things about Charlton House too. I'm sure it will be a great day!!

    Hello, ladies!

I found this really useful - a little list of London bridal shops with a bride's reviews of them:

    https://www.hitched.co.uk

Where have you guys shopped so far? I've been to The Wedding Services in Wallington (loved it!) and Zomo Couture near Oxford Circus (very nice).
