At the Wedding Fair at the NEC recently, I found a stand for Wedding Marryoke, which looked like utter genius and such a great reminder of your day.

Has anyone had one at their wedding or know anyone who has? I think they look brilliant and we both love music but I'm a little concerned they might detract from the day, by people being told where to stand, what to do etc

I'm really keen, but not if it's going to annoy our guests!

Here's an example.... for those who haven't a clue what I'm talking about!

Will you drop me an email with your wedding date/location? I'm hopefully going to hear from her tomorrow (I spoke to them yesterday and they are away at the moment) and will pass your email on to her so she can get in touch with you directly ?

My friends and I love singing - karaoke, talent shows, gigs etc. A few of my friends have their own karaoke setups for parties, and a couple of them are pro singers. But I can't think of anything worse than having karaoke at my wedding.

I can't PM you the details on here, but our date is 12/09/2015 and the location is Leamington Spa. I've had one quote already for £995, that's for one VOG, creating & editing the video and a USB stick with the video and downloadable content online. Basic package really.

She can email me on imustardmitt (at) gmail.com. I just created that email especially for this, I'm not putting my everyday email address on here. Be interesting to see if I get any bot spam through as well!

    Thanks SillyWrong ?

They can be fun but remember to add lots of time for doing them. One wedding I shot the couple were with the videographers for hours setting up and filming.

On the most part I agree with you that they can be really tacky, but I think if they're done well and the song choice is good, I think they can really work and just be a lighthearted, humorous look on the day. If our guests don't want to join in, well they won't be forced to, but I've mentioned it to a few people who will be coming and they all think it's hilarious and suits our personalities. We're not particularly extroverted or anything, but we like a good laugh and who better to laugh at than ourselves?!

But yeah, I know of a few guests off the top of my head who won't be into it and will think it's embarrassing and cheesy, but it's our day, not theirs, so ? to them!

The hardest part is really choosing the song, because we don't want Call Me Maybe or Teenage Dream, or *shudder* Marry You by Bruno Mars (I think 50% of Marryoke videos are with that one song), we want something so unbelievably awesome that even the naysayers will want to join in.... ?

    Easy. Bohemian Rhapsody.

Get an inflatable guitar or two for good measure.

My friend did this for a colleague and I thought it was fab, they choose "time of your life" and it's on youtube , it's not something I would personally do but I love the idea if you have guests thats are full of fun Smiley smile

Anything preceding a "but" is generally a lie.

I'm not being funny but ...
I don't mean to be mean but ...

It is a tiny bit offensive to state that you think that something someone is organising for their wedding is awful. Each to their own opinions, and this is a public forum where people are welcome to discuss their differing opinions on matter - but diplomacy is usually a skill greatly appreciated on sites like this.

Don't worry about it SillyWrong, it is something not all people will like, but to be honest, that's why I like it ? The less people who like it, the better as far as I'm concerned!

I've not heard anything from your supplier as yet btw.... how long do they normally take to respond?

To be honest I'm not easily offended and was not offended by the negative comment about Marryokes (so far, from the people coming to the wedding, we've had a great response and everyone's excited) my point was based more upon the language people use when expressing themselves, it can be ill thought out and taken the wrong way.

There was a bit of a mix up, I had text your email address to the wrong number, I spoke to them this afternoon though and gave Mel your email address Smiley smile

Ha ha, no worries! Will await their email.

Yeah, the written word can be taken a multitude of ways I suppose. Someone earlier said they'd rather stick pins in their eyes which I thought was a little harsh and OTT (their poor eyes - and over a little music video no less!)

We have a possible contender for a song.... he isn't 100% taken with it, but I adore it: Hall & Oates "You Make My Dreams Come True". He thinks it'd be like adding stilton on top of camembert with a side of parmesan (i.e. super cheesy!), but I remember it from a scene in 500 Days of Summer and it just always makes me smile. ?

I LOVE your song choice! Only thing is though, people won't generally know the words to it which will limit how good the lip syncs will work? I think they have an iPad with a karaoke on it for people to follow on the day, but it's better if everyone knows the song already? Just a thought. I have it stuck in my head now!!

I got my quote from Mel yesterday and I reckon you'll be pleased when you receive yours. They said they're happy to travel.

Absolutely - no problem i've passed your email address on! You might want to edit your post to remove your email address? I feel I should say that they have a referrers incentive on at the moment - I'm not referring for that reason - they are friends of mine and guests at my wedding, it's up to you if you'd like to book them Smiley smile

Yeah it's been stuck in my head all morning! It probably won't be that because he's not that keen, but I want something either rock or retro, nothing containing any icky love stuff if at all possible!

It's not your fault SW. If she wants the business she knows how to get in touch.... so if I don't hear anything I'll know to go elsewhere. ? Willing to give her the benefit of the doubt though. ?

Genius...utter genius!! Just watched the Teenage Dreams one on the link. They all look like they are having soooo much fun. What a brilliant and fun wedding they must have had. Obviously not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but if it suits u and ur guests then go for it!
