Hi everyone, now that we are htting the one year mark (mine is tomorrow eeek!) I thought I would start this thread so we can all introduce ourseves and our weddings- chances are we will all be going through a lot of the same things at the same times and thought it would be great to share our experiences and support each other through the next year!

So yes hello I am Nikki! Me and my OH have been together now for 7 and a half years and he proposed (as my family and friends would say.. finally!) in february 2012 in mexico Smiley smile

We have done lots of planning so far, all of it very chilled out and no stresses yet......

Our wedding date is Thursday 15th May 2014.

We booked our venue last june, it is a beautiful barn with seperate room for our civil ceremony and accommodation for 60 guests as well. We live in Colchester, Essex and the venue is called Vaulty Manor in Maldon... I will do a seperate posts with all of our flashes together Smiley smile

On the morning of the wedding me my mum and best friend, moh and only bridesmaid Claire will be getting ready in the bridal suite. I've booked Dawn Taylor to do our hair and make up. Will flash my hair ideas seperately too.

The ceremony starts at 13:30. We're wanting it to be kept short and sweet so are not having readings. We are giving notice next week so hope to be a bit clearer about the ceremony soon. I will be walking down the aisle with my dad to Better Together (hawaiian slack key kings version) by Jack Johnson (on itunes if you want to listen) havent completely decided on the other songs yet. There will be 60 guests in the day.

Once the ceremony is over we are providing the prosecco and/or orange juice for the reception drinks, and will be having our photos here. Hopng for nice weather outside of course! Also having canapes. Our photographers are booked - it is a bit of a risk as our bidget was tight, they cost £500 for the whole day and are our age (27) with only about six weddings under there belt (more by next year) but check out the facebook page and you'll see why they won us over, the photos are gorgeous! We've met with them and also really like them too. We want our wedding to be casual with no airs and graces with our guests feeling comfortable and not on their best behaviours, so a chilled couple as our photographers works for us. Here is a link to some of their previous photos from another wedding

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.435756009793409.89096.185021771533502&type=3

So then it's food time! Everyone moves into the big barn room. We have sorted all the catering now too, met with them properly last week - We have booked the Aussie BBQ company and they are doing a big 5 ft chicken, chorizo and seafood paella, aussie steaks, aussie bangers, minted lamb kebabs and halloumi kebabs served with french bread, sauces and chutneys, mixed salad, potato salad and coleslaw. For dessert there is Triple chocolate mousse and fruit cheesecake.

http://www.aussiebbq.co.uk/pdfs/2013/FINALAussieBBQBuffetmenusMARCH2013.pdf

We are providing all our own wine (lots and lots, no rules per person) and having the speeches and toasts first before the meal (my OH has a small speech impediment snd wants the speeches out of the way asap)

We then have a bit of time time to fill and are thinking of doing a pub quiz (h2b is pub manager and it's quite 'us') but nothing set on that yet.

In the evening we will probably invite a further 40 guests ish and we ave booked a guitarist to sing live called Jamie Mcguire and he djs inbetweem we want sets of pop, rock and rnb and hip hop.

http://www.jamiemcguiremusician.co.uk/

We will be serving our cake in the evening on the bar along with a hog roast for our guests around 8:30.

I bought my dress last month too, it is White Rose R524 with a D'Zage belt for £1009.

Our flower ideas are daisies and gysophilia, we are meeting with a potential florist next week.

I've handmade all the save the date magnets and they are going out soon - they are in the colour theme for the wedding green and pinks.

I have bought some cheap little daisies from ebay and these will be tied in daisy chains around the beams in the venue.

I have bought small wicker baskets with candles for centrepieces which I will tie daisy chains round and am thinking maybe wood circles underneath.

Oooh and ordered my veil yesterday from Margaret, I am having a two tiered super soft tulle, elbow length veil with scalloped edges and thin pencil edge. It is costing me £41.28 including postage and a veil hanger. So far cannot reccommend her enough just hope it comes out how I imagine.

So the things left to sort now are:

* Rings (i'll flash some ideas below) going to go to Alba Rose first

* Shoes

* Honeymoon (I was very lucky and won a prize at work.. £5000 holiday vouchers with Thomson! hoping to book up soon, thinking of a safari then beach in mobasa kenya next july)

* BM dress

* Suits (leaving this to h2b so dont expect it anytime soon!!!)

* Make invitations

* Jewellery/ hair accessories/ underwear

* Buy wine/prosecco

* Gifts for family / bridal party

* Book hen do (got the time off work thinking a weekend in Valencia!) then another one local for family too.

There is probably loads more but so far feeling pretty organised Smiley smile

Cant wait to hear all about your weddings too Smiley smile Smiley smile happy planning!!!

    Icklefee- not long now!

    I had my second "final fitting" this evening and the dress still isn't quite right. And because of the bank holiday and I can't take anymore time off, the first chance I can go to check it is next Fri - the day before the wedding. It's a bit nerve-wracking in case it's still not right!

    I'm finished work, I'm currently adding a tag to my favours to let people know they are flower seeds to avoid any wtf? Moments. We're writing lists of what is in each box and how it's to be displayed for the venue dressers and then tomorrow and Friday are all about pampering and honeymoon packing.

    Wow... Its all going so fast.

    Good luck for those getting married this weekend!

    8 days left, for us. I am working for the next four and then seem to be nothing but busy Smiley sad Starting to get stressed!

    Had the first of what I think will be many phone calls yesterday about people having left things till last minute to arrange asking whether I could sort it out for them... Erm no! Your an adult, you can make your own arrangements. I have done more than enough.

    Still feeling like I have forgotten something major but cant quite put my finger on it.

    Hope everyone is doing well and getting excited.

    Wow I can't believe some of you get married in 2days and I'm stressing at 9 days. So much to do, very little motivation to do any of it. I just need to sort table plan but we keep having people say they're now not certain their going to be able to make it for genuine reasons, but I do want to pay money to have one made for me to have to have another one made. but at least the function room is nearly built phewww

    I've always looked forward to having a good luck thread so I'll start making them for some more of the active early May brides today.

    I'm always making good use of company time :p

    **Sigh** or not. They weren't coming up in my search but they've all been done. Just trying to be nice Smiley smile

    I hope you're enjoying your pampering Icklefee Smiley smile

    I'm going to try my actual dress on today and then take it to mum and dads to hide it before my fitting tomorrow. I'm going alone which is a bit rubbish. I much prefer having a wedding possy.

    Taking a break just to breathe, its all hit me this morning- thank goodness I don't have much left to do! Even the little bits left are seeming massive today! Had my last kiss from HTB and said "see you at the aisle" now I am floating around the house with occasional hysterical laughter (ie. very happy) anyway the point of me coming here ....... Best of luck to all my date twins and to the rest of the first half of May brides as we are off to Thailand and China for ten days I will likely have to catch up on your days when we return.

    Enjoy the planning and best of luck to you all Smiley smile

    I also went to my first 2 fittings alone - circumstances must and all that (work schedules, blahhh).

    With my final one today my bridesmaid is coming with me, as I'm told that there are 2 sets of lacing to do up (integral corset, and then apparently the external bit is just 'decorative' on me) to get me into my dress. She is the one who will have to know HOW to get me into my dress on the morning, so she's an essential.

    Just thought I'd point this out so that you make sure the right person is with you at your final fitting. Even if your dress has buttons, they still need to know what they are doing!

    Haha yes my MiL2B is a retired florist, there's no way I could do that, although I did choose the flowers so I helped haha.

    Thanks so much! Can't believe how close it is!! Smiley smile

    Yea, same here. I've taken the afternoon off but everyone else has to work. (REALLY can't concentrate this morning - may as well be at home!)

    Good thinking. Luckily my dress is a zip with fake buttons so I should be ok. I will ask about any super secret tricky extra fastenings today though.

    It's very quiet in here.

    Is everyone rushing around like me?

    Right now I want to cry because i've just failed at my third attempt at the table numbers. Who knew a printer could upset you so much! I've had to order more sticker paper from ebay which will hopefully come by tomorrow. My florest needs the bottles (with the numbers on) by Saturday so i'm cutting it a bit fine.

    I was going to have everything done by now and spend my last week pampering myself and dreaming of my lovely life as an OM. How naive I was!!

    Today I also need to get the pictures printed for my card box and re print half the table plan because I did that wrong to. (all sneakily at work with a bloody broken printer)

    This is my family spelling the word cards for the card suitcase. I'm putting photos of my and my OH on our various holidays on there as well.

    I'm starting to wonder what obvious things I've forgotten about!!

    Can't believe some of you are married already aswell, hope everyone's so far have gone well ?

    I had a mini panic about ordering a table swag for top table the other day, but then decided I didn't need the hassle of setting it up and that no one would miss it if it wasn't there so veto'd that idea.

    I finished my flip-fop basket last night which I'm quite please with though ?

    I have my hen do this weekend and a massive spot has reared it's ugly self right in the middle of my chin!!

    How is everyone else doing?

    I finish work Tuesday which is when it'll go crazy!

    Bit of advice though, stick on lashes or semi permanent? I can have them done next Friday, with the wedding being the following Thursday? Will they last? X
