Hi everyone, now that we are htting the one year mark (mine is tomorrow eeek!) I thought I would start this thread so we can all introduce ourseves and our weddings- chances are we will all be going through a lot of the same things at the same times and thought it would be great to share our experiences and support each other through the next year!

So yes hello I am Nikki! Me and my OH have been together now for 7 and a half years and he proposed (as my family and friends would say.. finally!) in february 2012 in mexico Smiley smile

We have done lots of planning so far, all of it very chilled out and no stresses yet......

Our wedding date is Thursday 15th May 2014.

We booked our venue last june, it is a beautiful barn with seperate room for our civil ceremony and accommodation for 60 guests as well. We live in Colchester, Essex and the venue is called Vaulty Manor in Maldon... I will do a seperate posts with all of our flashes together Smiley smile

On the morning of the wedding me my mum and best friend, moh and only bridesmaid Claire will be getting ready in the bridal suite. I've booked Dawn Taylor to do our hair and make up. Will flash my hair ideas seperately too.

The ceremony starts at 13:30. We're wanting it to be kept short and sweet so are not having readings. We are giving notice next week so hope to be a bit clearer about the ceremony soon. I will be walking down the aisle with my dad to Better Together (hawaiian slack key kings version) by Jack Johnson (on itunes if you want to listen) havent completely decided on the other songs yet. There will be 60 guests in the day.

Once the ceremony is over we are providing the prosecco and/or orange juice for the reception drinks, and will be having our photos here. Hopng for nice weather outside of course! Also having canapes. Our photographers are booked - it is a bit of a risk as our bidget was tight, they cost £500 for the whole day and are our age (27) with only about six weddings under there belt (more by next year) but check out the facebook page and you'll see why they won us over, the photos are gorgeous! We've met with them and also really like them too. We want our wedding to be casual with no airs and graces with our guests feeling comfortable and not on their best behaviours, so a chilled couple as our photographers works for us. Here is a link to some of their previous photos from another wedding

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.435756009793409.89096.185021771533502&type=3

So then it's food time! Everyone moves into the big barn room. We have sorted all the catering now too, met with them properly last week - We have booked the Aussie BBQ company and they are doing a big 5 ft chicken, chorizo and seafood paella, aussie steaks, aussie bangers, minted lamb kebabs and halloumi kebabs served with french bread, sauces and chutneys, mixed salad, potato salad and coleslaw. For dessert there is Triple chocolate mousse and fruit cheesecake.

http://www.aussiebbq.co.uk/pdfs/2013/FINALAussieBBQBuffetmenusMARCH2013.pdf

We are providing all our own wine (lots and lots, no rules per person) and having the speeches and toasts first before the meal (my OH has a small speech impediment snd wants the speeches out of the way asap)

We then have a bit of time time to fill and are thinking of doing a pub quiz (h2b is pub manager and it's quite 'us') but nothing set on that yet.

In the evening we will probably invite a further 40 guests ish and we ave booked a guitarist to sing live called Jamie Mcguire and he djs inbetweem we want sets of pop, rock and rnb and hip hop.

http://www.jamiemcguiremusician.co.uk/

We will be serving our cake in the evening on the bar along with a hog roast for our guests around 8:30.

I bought my dress last month too, it is White Rose R524 with a D'Zage belt for £1009.

Our flower ideas are daisies and gysophilia, we are meeting with a potential florist next week.

I've handmade all the save the date magnets and they are going out soon - they are in the colour theme for the wedding green and pinks.

I have bought some cheap little daisies from ebay and these will be tied in daisy chains around the beams in the venue.

I have bought small wicker baskets with candles for centrepieces which I will tie daisy chains round and am thinking maybe wood circles underneath.

Oooh and ordered my veil yesterday from Margaret, I am having a two tiered super soft tulle, elbow length veil with scalloped edges and thin pencil edge. It is costing me £41.28 including postage and a veil hanger. So far cannot reccommend her enough just hope it comes out how I imagine.

So the things left to sort now are:

* Rings (i'll flash some ideas below) going to go to Alba Rose first

* Shoes

* Honeymoon (I was very lucky and won a prize at work.. £5000 holiday vouchers with Thomson! hoping to book up soon, thinking of a safari then beach in mobasa kenya next july)

* BM dress

* Suits (leaving this to h2b so dont expect it anytime soon!!!)

* Make invitations

* Jewellery/ hair accessories/ underwear

* Buy wine/prosecco

* Gifts for family / bridal party

* Book hen do (got the time off work thinking a weekend in Valencia!) then another one local for family too.

There is probably loads more but so far feeling pretty organised Smiley smile

Cant wait to hear all about your weddings too Smiley smile Smiley smile happy planning!!!

I am so glad I emailed about my dress.

Turns out it arrived but it was wrong and they sent it back! They have said it'll be here by mid April but they don't know a date yet!! ??

I can't believe that I had to email them to find this out!

Can you imagine if I had ordered it any later - I would be back to square one.

Haha that sounds exactly like us!

Jes22 - I like both those dresses and they are very different! Hopefully you'll be like a lot of us and worry like crazy until you try it on and remember why you loved it in the first place Smiley smile

I need your opinions on my invites. The colour of my insert card doesn't match the colour of the main invite bit (two different whites) Please tell me it's not a big deal and it doesn't matter. The photo just has practice paper inserts. The actual ones will be nicer card but the same brighter white.

    Honestly, it really doesn't matter.

I had the same issue with the ties I just bought, spent ages looking online trying to match them to the BM dress.

The ties arrived yesterday and I think they're too light in comparison. My first thought was, well they'll have to go back.

Then I realised I would order more and they would never match exactly or me be satisfied anyway! Plus no one would notice on the day, why was I over thinking things??

I was going to pop round my mums as the BM dress for my sister is there, but I don't think i can even be bothered to do that now.. it will just have to do, lol.

Still no dress! 2 possible plans of action; one involving dyeing and altering a silk dress from Thailand, which then gets hacked up and modified, or buying a nylon one from China that doesn't need dyeing, but still needs hacking and modifying. Either way, a dress will be ordered by Monday!

Glad to hear your planning is coming along! Smiley smile

We're off in the morning to sort:

    - order of service, music for register signing/entrance etc

    - meet a florist to do bouquets and advise on centrepieces. Poss also button holes

    - go to the garden centre to look a bit more at the birch trees we're gonna hire(!) and some planters we want to buy

    - nip in to IKEA for tealights (and loads of other crap, probably!)

Sunday we are menu tasting! Smiley laugh

This weekend, I also need to:

    - order a dress for hacking up (AKA Wedding Dress Plan B)

    - finish the info in a handful of invites and send

    - update the wedding website

    - order beads for the wedding dress, as I'm now making part of it *sob*

The only other major things then are:

    - finalise centrepieces (each table is different as I'm an IDIOT)

    - design and print order of service, 'eat me' 'drink me' labels and table names etc

    - photo shoot list

    - design and make the wedding rings

    - BM dresses

    - Groomsmen suits

    - BM presents

Um, so yeah. Still a bit to do!

Sooo haven't really put much pen to paper with the planning should probably make a list of things to do.

    - Send legal stuff to wedding planner - should be sorted today
    - Dress / Shoes
    - Suit
    - Music to walk down the aisle to
    - tell my dad
    - Invites for family
    - Invites for friends
    - Wedding Rings
    - Travel insurance
    - Decorations for reception
    - reception in general needs organising.

Humm, I just don't feel all that motivated.

Aww I think that's normal, my motivation goes in peaks and troughs.

I have days where I think must get this done, then the next day i cba. Trouble is when I cba my OH seems to want to get things done.. lol!

I'm sending out the majority of invitations this weekend, this is when the main headache will begin.

In my mind it's simple, you can either make it or you can't but I've got a feeling there will be a lot more hassle... not actually looking forward to this bit at all. ?

    Hi All,

    wishing tags

make a card box out of rustic wood

get the bunting for my card box

    ribbon

    table plan

    favour boxes

place cards along wiht more ribbon

    order Pom pom lanterns

find where sells scatter berry lights for outside (they look amazing in bushes and grass etc)

more hurrican jars for the aisle although with my dress i might not be able to have them as I might hit them walking down, that wont be a good look setting on fire.

all presents for ushers, best man and little bridesmaids

    present for my OH...

    My jewellry

I can see me stressing in April to get it all done in time as I am away and out a lot of May for hen do's ect.. however loving every minute of planning it and dont know what i am going to do after.. I have a wedding planner just to decorate the room on the day and she said i will definatley get the wedding blues..

    Welcome goofycat Smiley smile

    Your dress is beautiful!

    I've made quite a bit of progress;

People are actually invited! All my day invites have gone out and I have got about 5 replies so far.

We also had a meeting with our venue yesterday where they asked us all about who we had booked for a DJ etc. and we went through the itinerary.

We paid off the honeymoon on Saturday.

I have my make up trial on Thursday afternoon. None of my family can be there so I hope I make the right choices.

Mum, sister and brothers girlfriend are coming round on Saturday evening to help me decorate the jars for the centre pieces and drink wine.

I have finally reached a 5lb weight loss milestone after 2 months of trying. I ideally want to get down another 11lb before the wedding but I know that's not going to happen now. I'll just do as well as I can and deal with it. It's so that I feel ok in a bikini more than anything.

It's getting to the point where everyone wants to be paid and our bank balance is looking sadder and sadder!

I think I might flash next week Smiley laugh

Our invites went out too over the last week or so and we've had quite a few replies already but I think the fact I included RSVP cards in the invites might be a reason, some people filled them out there and then! We requested 31st of March on ours, hope that's not too late!!

I've had one 'no' so far but we were 3 guests over anyway so that's good (stupidly the deal was we had to have 60 full paying adults and I forgot to include ourselves in that calculation!!)

We still have quite a lot to do but we could probably blitz it in 3 /4 nights: gifts for everyone, menu choices, table plan, order of day, (if I bother) ceremony music and reading choices, TOG list, DJ list, SUITS!! (that's up to OH so will probably be sorted the week before!)

I'm feeling quite relaxed at the mo but thinking this might change when we hit March although I'm 31st May so further on than most with exception to others that are the same day :-)

As we're abroad when we get married we've not actually though about a 'real' honeymoon yet. We'd discussed a few locations, if we get donations from family we'd more like use that to move house and look at going away somewhere for our 1st anniversary instead.

Welcome Goofy cat. I'm really lagging behind now. We really need to get the last of the invitations sent but I've still not done it yet and the others have only just gone. We're starting to give up on some of the stuff we were going to DIY (like centrepieces) and just make them.

I have my next dress fitting on Saturday. I'm very nervous as I ripped it at my prefit as I've put on weight since I bought it last year. She assured it was mostly the seam and you wouldn't notice it once fixed so I'm nervous in case that turns out not to be true, and also nervous that it still won't fit (I've been dieting and gyming-it like crazy).

Once that's done it's on to the little details - choosing readings and music, making the brooch bouquets, starting the name cards and table plan etc etc etc.

    How's everyone else's planning going?

    Ello ello!

My first BM dress has arrived, and looks good - just got to run it past some dress experts to assess the quality and then I can go ahead and order the other 3 Smiley smile

The base of my dress is HERE! Spending tomorrow afternoon prepping it for dyeing, then it's going up to Leicester to be turned a different colour Smiley laugh

Florist booked and deposit paid, boudoir shoot booked (yay!)

Ordered some cut flowers from a wholesaler, so will get to assess their quality and hopefully use them on the day! (25% of the cost of the florist's flowers!)

Next up (this weekend) I need to:

    Make groom's ring!
    Finish last BM present
    Make BM and Usher jewellery
Design my pendant so I can get it drawn in CAD and made
Do a few more centrepieces; I've finally got my basement cleared out, so centrepiece operations can be moved back to wedding HQ (have been using my parents' dining room!)
Figure out hair accessories for BMs, make artificial flower headbands for the FGs
Select menu options and send to all guests
    Buy booze!
    Sketch cake design
Try out the sample meringue mushrooms (NOM)

    Right!

Birth Certificate is sorted, I can get married yay!

Dress is bought. I like it, I found it such an overwhelming experience and pretty much bought the first one that didn't look atrocious on me. I have 30 days to return it, so gonna try it on again in a couple of weeks to make sure I've not changed my mind! I didn't get that 'oh my god I love it I want to wear it everyday feeling' but I was feeling down because some many dresses had looked SHOCKING on me, and I was with my mum which stresses me out too. gah.

Ordered invites for everyone so will need to start making them. Not sure what to do about RSVPs for the meal thing. I guess include a postcard or something for them?

Just need to sort, travel insurance, dog injections, rings, OH's outfit! ooo and underwear

I'm going to try it on again next Sunday when OH is at work, with some Bridget jones style underwear on and nice hair and makeup and see how I feel.

'day' invite making kit arrived over the weekend, so will need to muster the enthusiasm to make them soon!

the evening invites has been shipped so just need to do addresses and that's them sorted!

OH is going suit shopping next weekend I think with his dad. and it's just rings and shoes, I think I'll wait till payday to order them, spread the cost a little! but shoes are designed just need to pay for them and rings we know what we want just need to order.

First BM dress arrived; looks ace and fits - hurrah! Glower girl dresses have changed (I think); trying them on the small people on Sunday. Once we've decided, I can get the boys' ties/cravats!
Need to do OH's ring this weekend, BM presents and necklaces, and sort all the final bits that need printing

Only 49 days to go for me now - Some of you are even less! So exciting.

    Just come on here to do a self indulgent congratulatory post to myself for actually getting stuff done. Been in a bit of a slump recently with regards to wedding planning but I think am I on top of things now. Thing I have done/booked/paid for;

Wedding dress, shoes, veil, suits x8, hotel rooms, bouncy castle, jukebox, florist, MUA, invitations have all gone out and come back (bar one which is my MOH!), have a table plan agreed on, ordered bags/tong/scoops for sweet buffet, stamp to personalise bags, gift for H2B & groomsmen, booked tog, chosen cake/cake toppers, got wedding rings.

    Things I need to do/buy;

Meet with venue to discuss our menu options/have menu tasting, finalise transport (H2B's job), buy sweets for buffet, get BM accessories/gifts, choose hair piece, buy cufflinks for groomsmen, guest book, table number frames, order table plan, buy confetti, make up baskets for bathrooms (with toiletries etc), buy/make decorations for room,

I am sure there is more to do, so nice to see it written down as it seems we have the majority of important stuff done.

How are we all feeling? Anyone else as stressed as me?

    xx

Everyone is doing really well lately.. I've got the most time out of the May brides but it still feels as though it's running away!!

In the past week we have got suit sizes from people and bought them so everyone is (almost!) sorted attire wise, just need to get a hairpiece and belt for BM and shirts for guys.

We have about three quarters of our invites back (only 2 no's so far!) and I'm itching to get started on the dreaded table plan asap.

We really have to sort out our ceremony next, we have't finalised music or readings and we have to meet with the registrar again within the next month to agree the service and pay the balance. (gulp!)

Also really struggling with evening invites, how has everyone else approached this? If we invite work people there will be a number of people and other half's that I won't know from H2B 's work and vice versa and we're not sure how many people we want there who we won't know. How many is too impersonal? My mum points out that we don't want the room to be too empty but we don't know that many people, most are coming to the day!!
