Hi everyone, now that we are htting the one year mark (mine is tomorrow eeek!) I thought I would start this thread so we can all introduce ourseves and our weddings- chances are we will all be going through a lot of the same things at the same times and thought it would be great to share our experiences and support each other through the next year!

So yes hello I am Nikki! Me and my OH have been together now for 7 and a half years and he proposed (as my family and friends would say.. finally!) in february 2012 in mexico Smiley smile

We have done lots of planning so far, all of it very chilled out and no stresses yet......

Our wedding date is Thursday 15th May 2014.

We booked our venue last june, it is a beautiful barn with seperate room for our civil ceremony and accommodation for 60 guests as well. We live in Colchester, Essex and the venue is called Vaulty Manor in Maldon... I will do a seperate posts with all of our flashes together Smiley smile

On the morning of the wedding me my mum and best friend, moh and only bridesmaid Claire will be getting ready in the bridal suite. I've booked Dawn Taylor to do our hair and make up. Will flash my hair ideas seperately too.

The ceremony starts at 13:30. We're wanting it to be kept short and sweet so are not having readings. We are giving notice next week so hope to be a bit clearer about the ceremony soon. I will be walking down the aisle with my dad to Better Together (hawaiian slack key kings version) by Jack Johnson (on itunes if you want to listen) havent completely decided on the other songs yet. There will be 60 guests in the day.

Once the ceremony is over we are providing the prosecco and/or orange juice for the reception drinks, and will be having our photos here. Hopng for nice weather outside of course! Also having canapes. Our photographers are booked - it is a bit of a risk as our bidget was tight, they cost £500 for the whole day and are our age (27) with only about six weddings under there belt (more by next year) but check out the facebook page and you'll see why they won us over, the photos are gorgeous! We've met with them and also really like them too. We want our wedding to be casual with no airs and graces with our guests feeling comfortable and not on their best behaviours, so a chilled couple as our photographers works for us. Here is a link to some of their previous photos from another wedding

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.435756009793409.89096.185021771533502&type=3

So then it's food time! Everyone moves into the big barn room. We have sorted all the catering now too, met with them properly last week - We have booked the Aussie BBQ company and they are doing a big 5 ft chicken, chorizo and seafood paella, aussie steaks, aussie bangers, minted lamb kebabs and halloumi kebabs served with french bread, sauces and chutneys, mixed salad, potato salad and coleslaw. For dessert there is Triple chocolate mousse and fruit cheesecake.

http://www.aussiebbq.co.uk/pdfs/2013/FINALAussieBBQBuffetmenusMARCH2013.pdf

We are providing all our own wine (lots and lots, no rules per person) and having the speeches and toasts first before the meal (my OH has a small speech impediment snd wants the speeches out of the way asap)

We then have a bit of time time to fill and are thinking of doing a pub quiz (h2b is pub manager and it's quite 'us') but nothing set on that yet.

In the evening we will probably invite a further 40 guests ish and we ave booked a guitarist to sing live called Jamie Mcguire and he djs inbetweem we want sets of pop, rock and rnb and hip hop.

http://www.jamiemcguiremusician.co.uk/

We will be serving our cake in the evening on the bar along with a hog roast for our guests around 8:30.

I bought my dress last month too, it is White Rose R524 with a D'Zage belt for £1009.

Our flower ideas are daisies and gysophilia, we are meeting with a potential florist next week.

I've handmade all the save the date magnets and they are going out soon - they are in the colour theme for the wedding green and pinks.

I have bought some cheap little daisies from ebay and these will be tied in daisy chains around the beams in the venue.

I have bought small wicker baskets with candles for centrepieces which I will tie daisy chains round and am thinking maybe wood circles underneath.

Oooh and ordered my veil yesterday from Margaret, I am having a two tiered super soft tulle, elbow length veil with scalloped edges and thin pencil edge. It is costing me £41.28 including postage and a veil hanger. So far cannot reccommend her enough just hope it comes out how I imagine.

So the things left to sort now are:

* Rings (i'll flash some ideas below) going to go to Alba Rose first

* Shoes

* Honeymoon (I was very lucky and won a prize at work.. £5000 holiday vouchers with Thomson! hoping to book up soon, thinking of a safari then beach in mobasa kenya next july)

* BM dress

* Suits (leaving this to h2b so dont expect it anytime soon!!!)

* Make invitations

* Jewellery/ hair accessories/ underwear

* Buy wine/prosecco

* Gifts for family / bridal party

* Book hen do (got the time off work thinking a weekend in Valencia!) then another one local for family too.

There is probably loads more but so far feeling pretty organised Smiley smile

Cant wait to hear all about your weddings too Smiley smile Smiley smile happy planning!!!

    32 DAYYYS!! Smiley smile

Trying to write a list of what still needs to be done and I'm slightly worried its so short. I have a feeling I am forgetting something major.

What is on your last minute list (Ok, so maybe its not last minute just yet but time is flying by and it will be soon.)

I *think* we finished writing our vows yesterday... maybe one more look over them.

Need guest book and confetti. Haven't thought about those properly yet.

Need to finish music play lists.

Need to finish off the hand-made decor - things like bunting.... and putting together the wedding favours.

Need to meet up with bridesmaids and measure up hems on dresses.

And finally....really need to sort out the fine detail of the Hen. Booking a restaurant would help !

I could probably add another 15 to this list if I thought about it some more! ARRRRRAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHH!

    How's everyone doing?

I have SO much to do. I had a dream last night that the wedding was tomorrow and was panicking that everything wasn't finished.

I had my hair trial on Saturday. I cried because I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. I'm still not 100% because I don't think the pictures that my sister took do it justice.

I also went to try my dress on again which STILL hasn't arrived. I was happy to see that the sample was now a bit bigger on me which means all the dieting is working. It does mean that it should hurry up and arrive so it can be altered though!

I still have to finish the centrepieces, start the card box, start the tissues, choose readings, choose music, start table numbers, buy gifts, get wedding underwear, do everything for the honeymoon (shopping, changing money etc), send stuff to registrar, chase up two remaining RSVPs, make table plan, activity packs for kids, morning t-shirts/shirts for everyone, second hen do, practice cake pop favours, do labels for flip flop basket, book to get my hair cut and coloured...oh my god the list just goes on and on.

I have made a spreadsheet now though listing all the things I need to get done each week. Green if they get done, orange if I start them and red if I don't. Any I don't do get moved to the next list.

I spent ages doing the table plan but my OH says he doesn't want mixed tables. I told him he could do it himself if he wants it different :p Aaanndd then I did it because I know he wont...

So now I have two table plans to pick from before making the final thing.

I get married on the 17th Tinkerbell so 1 month tomorrow ?

Yea i'm the same with adding things to the list. Now I have seen I need something to reserve seats for people I have to go and add that (nope, not relying on the ushers remembering)

The finishing touches are exciting but scary to. I think it's because I can see the deadline looming.

They originally said mid April for my dress (It came in January and was wrong so they sent it back) When I went in on Saturday they said they would ring me on Monday just gone to give me the exact date. I haven't heard from them yet so I'll give them this week and then chase them up again.

Yesterday we chose our reading, the walking down the isle and leaving music and after a few hints my OH started removing labels from the bottles we are having flowers in for our centrepieces. So that's a few things that can at least turn orange on the list :p

Ooo I have also been learning how to play craps for our honeymoon to Vegas Smiley laugh Hooray for quiet days at work!

BeckiW - Don't panic, you have plenty of time. Just try and do little and often!

I have a few last things to complete, I have a week off and I want to get it all done now so that I can relax until the weeding after that. 23days to go - Should have started dieting ages ago so now I am panicking that I'm going to look like a heffer on the day!! H2B told me it serves me right!

Anyhoo... Unless I'm willing to chop a leg off this weight is going no where.

I had a dream last night that I fell out with one of my bridesmaids and started trowing things at her - I feel horrible now!

    Hope everyone is getting excited!!

    xx

    Heard from the dress shop!

My dress will be in on the 2nd. Apparently its a bit closer than they normally like to leave it but I'm having my alterations on the 3rd and then all should be gravy.

SNAP! I have next week off so hoping to blitz quite a lot then, we are meeting all suppliers to finalise everything, as well as the registrar.

Don't worry everyone I feel like I have a tonne left to do including hair trial for BM, chasing some evening RSVP's, buy gifts for everyone (eek!) buy shirts for the guys, buy confetti and disposable cameras, order of ceremony or the day, (whatever you call it!!) finish printing the table plan, sort out drinks options, ask someone to do our reading, put ceremony music onto a disc, ask who wants flower corsages, find or buy boxes to transport everything to the venue, haircuts, packing, euros, ... argghh, it goes on and on lol!

I am jealous of anyone with time off!

My honeymoon has eaten up the pathetic amount of days holiday that I have so I'm working up until the wedding.

I am not enjoying getting wedding stuff done today. I HATE using the telephone and I have to ring the registrar to pay and ring the hair dressers. I also have to email the venue with final numbers and fill in all the details about songs and readings that the registrar wants ASAP (we haven't even chosen it all yet)

I want to just stick my head under a pillow and pretend it all doesn't exist.

We're not even that busy at work so I can't even use that as an excuse.

It's fair to say I am feeling slightly overwhelmed today.

We're on 11 days too, I can't believe this time in 2 weeks it will all be over!!

I've just been and checked in for our honeymoon and picked up our boarding passes and tickets.

i feel like I've loads left to do but in reality I probably haven't. Met with the florist yesterday to have a final run through.

all I can think of that I have to do is sort a play list for the ceremony music, pay for our cake, book our chair covers (last minute decision to have them last night) my sister is in the process of finishing our table plan as we speak. I'm sure there's other things I'm meant to be doing but I have so much work to do before I go away (I work on child care and all my folder need to be updated before the wedding.

Oh and I need to pack for honeymoon and the wedding night

Still don't know how to do my hair or nails.

Still haven't heard back from wedding co-ordinator to say all okay!

    I have conjunctivitis!

Have an electrician in next week rewiring our flat, which I could do without.

But! I only have 8 days left at work, then I'm on holiday and then we'll get married.

Argh Argh. 3 1/2 weeks and there just seems to be so much to do. I am not a list person and so I have all this stuff floating around my head. People need to be paid and confirmed and argh the hotel seem to keep messing up people's rooms so I'm having to check about those sort of things too. EEP!

I was not designed to be an organiser. My mum and sister have just started doing things because I think they think I am just not on top of it, which... erm.. I'm not!

Everyone keeps telling me not to worry because I have a few weeks to get stuff done yet.

They don't take into account that we are going through the part of the process where all of a sudden everyone wants paying or wants more info from us.

It's time to make those final choices of what music and readings we want etc. We are completely stuck on a register signing song!

Today I have paid the registrar and booked to get my hair cut and coloured and a pedicure and eye brow wax the weekend before. I have also made an ispy game for the kids and printed some colouring pages. I have made printed the happy tears labels for the tissues and the table number idea to show my OH.

On friday my sister, mum and brothers girlfriend are coming round to do another DIY evening to finish the jars, make the table numbers, practice cake pop favours and any other job I can get them to while I have them in my grasp!

I don't do relaxed! I'm a little ball of stress at the best of times. "Thankfully" we are 6 members of staff down at work at the moment which means lots of other things to stress about rather than the wedding! Only 5 working days left though.

    Icklefee I am so jealous.

I am kind of similar though - I will still be stressed even when (if!) everything is ready.

I am convinced I have forgotten something. Yesterday I was googling 'what do brides forget to do for a wedding'

Today my main stress is what to wear the dress comes off!!

I think this is winner so far (For those at work - this is a debenhams babydoll)

    http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_151010239721_-1

But i'm not sure if it is sexy enough.

    Our registrar just telephoned me!!

To be fair, when we returned all the paperwork last week, I wrote lots of queries on it, like "Does the registrar automatically say 'Now you can kiss your bride'?"

She rang me to give me the answers to all our questions, which was lovely. She also confirmed that we can change the order of everything completely (from the suggested itinerary) which is nice. I'd felt really in the dark about what the registrar says and does during the ceremony, as our registry office provided zero details of this. All the formal paperwork did was tell us what WE had to do, without giving us any clues as to whether the registrar would do a bit of a preamble about the meaning of marriage, or whether they say traditional things like "Is there anyone here present who knows of any reason why......" yada yada yada.

What this just made me think is DAMMMMNNNNN THIS WEDDING IS GETTING CLOSE NOW!!!!!!!

    And do they???

That's one of the things I don't like about a civil ceremony. I want a run through - preferably about 10 times! I don't know where/when everyone should sit, like my bridesmaids.

I'm not even sure what side i'm meant to stand on when I walk down the isle.

Oh yea. And after you signed the register do you just leave or is there more ceremony after that?

LOL, ok, I'll give you the benefit of my phonecall information!

Ours said that they do automatically say "Now you can kiss your bride". But that's not a 'legal requirement' (LOL) so it'd differ between each registry office. You need to check with your own, but that's a minor point that you can just ask in your pre-interview 10 minutes before the ceremony.

I was told the registrar does automatically ask "Is there anyone here present who knows of any reason why A and B should not be married....", as that is still indeed a legal requirement apparently.

After signing the register, the registrar will definitely say something to bring the whole thing to a close, such as "You can now enjoy the rest of your married life together, can all the guests please be upstanding for the departure of the new Mr and Mrs X, and give them a round of applause". So don't worry about that bit.

Walking down the aisle - you would normally be on the left, with your dad on your right. It's not a legal requirement though, so you can alter it if you choose. eg. if one of you had a walking stick in a particular hand, that might need changing.

Regarding seating - this is for you to sort out. It's not a registrar issue. Talk to your venue about how many seats there are either side of the aisle, and then have a think about reserving some seating. The same would apply if it was actually a registry office venue - just call up and ask about the number of seats each side.

It's your choice to either sit / stand for the ceremony yourself. We are standing. I know other couples who have sat down. This needs to be pre-planned with the venue. Or the registry office if getting married there. I recently went to a wedding were it wasn't preplanned, and the registrar told the bride and groom to 'take their seats'. There were no seats put out for them, LOL.
