Night sweats - advice?

Cat In A Teacup, 18 October, 2013 at 17:32 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

A bit of a strange one, my OH gets really bad night sweats for no apparent reason.

We have tried everything from lighter duvets/cotton bedding/window open at night/prescription strength antiperspirant and nothing seems to work.

It's not all the time, and there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. We thought it could be stress for a while but everything in life is pretty stress free at the moment.

Does anyone have any solutions we might not have tried yet? It's really beginning to annoy us both, and I am fed up with washing the bedding almost daily!

Has he always had them, or is it a new thing? Does he feel alright? Has he got any other health issues?

Do you mean wakes up drenched and has soaked his clothes and the bed or he’s just very sweaty in normal sweaty bits?

I’ve no real idea to be honest, but if it’s the first I’d be popping along to the GP just to double check everything is ok.

I don't remember him having them when we first started dating, but definitely the last year or so. He is generally healthy and in fact he very rarely gets ill. No fevers during the day and not even normally a sweaty person.

OB - he is literally drenched, sheets and duvet are wet on his side of the bed.

I made him go to the GP about 6 months ago and they did thyroid tests that came back fine. Perhaps I should make him go for a second opinion.

    I would.

But it's worth noting that I get them in a menstrual cycle pattern, and they are far better when I don't drink caffeine. Also, when I don't sleep on a memory foam mattress!

I would send him back to the GP, maybe get them to run a basic biochemistry and haematology blood tests if they didn't last time.
