Hi all,
I recently got engaged in February and we’re in the midst of planning our big day on Halloween 2023 (memorable? Yes!). We’re eloping to Gretna Green, very simple package of ceremony and photographs and staying at a nearby B&B for our pre-wedding and wedding night. We aren’t sure on a honeymoon as it may be out of our budget, anyone else not having or hasn’t had a honeymoon? We may have a belated one in the future but probably not next year.

It would be good to have at least a long weekend post-wedding, just to recover from the wedding and settle into married life. But you could always save the longer holiday for later.

We had our honeymoon in the UK - even pre Covid, travelling abroad wasn't an option because we wouldn't want to leave the elderly dog in kennels. We went to Cornwall and loved it - and even better, we can go back to our honeymoon destination every year, instead of having to wait for a major anniversary as we would have to do if we travelled somewhere very expensive for our honeymoon.

We are staying in Gretna the day before and the day of our wedding but we may extend that by a day because we’re having a religious ceremony and need to send our marriage documents back to them while we are there. It also would be nice considering how busy the day before and our wedding day will be to have an extra day to relax would be nice. We are now considering a belated honeymoon to the Lake District at Christmas time with our dog, as like yourself, I can’t leave her with kennels!

This is what we are doing too. We are leaving our honeymoon until April next year and are getting married this July. My daughters from a previous relationship who live with us will be 12 and 14 and we want to ask for money to go towards a big trip to Florida and do Disney. We’ve all done Disney in Paris together but only my fiancé has been to the US one. My uncle has gifted us a week in his self catering cottage in the Yorkshire dales for a week after the wedding which my fiancé and I will do alone lol.
We haven’t told the girls about Disney, cannot wait to see their faces!

We are getting married on a Saturday in June 23 and going on honeymoon on the Monday. We’ve decided to go for it just because we have three children and we’ve never left them before so wanted something just once for us, if you can’t do it on honeymoon when can you! We are doing a week in Majorca so that there’s lots of flights and it’s 2 1/2hrs if we did need to get back in an emergency. I’ve since questioned if we are mad to go though and it’s put a lot of strain on our budget. It’s not surprising to me that people go a few months later, whatever makes you happy I think is the main thing 😊

We’re doing what lots of people on here are saying - a UK based mini-moon the day after the wedding and then saving up for our dream honeymoon in 2023. I don’t think it matters what you do as long as you are happy with it 😊

We did a ‘mini moon’ it was 3 days in the uk the day after the wedding, and we plan on having a proper honeymoon later on in the year when we can afford it. I would recommend something small, even if it’s just a hotel in your home town for one or two nights. If you’re anything like me, I was unexpectedly very tired after it all so it’s nice to enjoy the beginnnig of married life together in your own bubble, even if you’re just napping haha.

Sorry for the late reply! That’s now what we are thinking of doing! I love the Lake District and it isn’t too far from where I live
