All the plans are coming together now. You venue sounds amazing, so pretty. Mine is lovely but not in the least but rural. Like you say you tick another thing off of the list and it seems more and more real.
We met the registrar on Wednesday and went through the wording of the ceremony which was lovely. It made me think and contemplate the vows we will make to one another. Some people say they don't like weddings, what's not to like?! What a beautiful celebration.
My dress is boned but the seamstress took some of them out as the fabric wasn't lying as flat as would've liked. Is that an option for you is it too late for all of that now? I just added a post and realised that in two weeks time we will be doing final preparations and my dress will be at home!!!! EEeekkk!!!
Sooo how are all us October 15 brides today and what are we all up to? What do you all have left to do? I wonder how long Sparkly Bear is in Mauritius for? LMP only went on a mini moon didn't she? Hopefully the first Oct 15 wedding reports will start coming in soon
It's two weeks to the day for my OH and I!! This time in two weeks I'll be bouncing off of the walls probably having had 30 seconds sleep all night!!! I had a thought, this time next month we'll all be OMs, how exciting is that?!
I'm up with the lark and about to go to my double Spin class. I love it, love it, love it. The gym isn't close to me though so it's a bit of a trek but worth it It's all prep for the dress and I am counting down the workouts to THE BIG DAY!!!
This week we met the registrar who is just lovely and we are all sorted with the ceremony.
The venue told me yesterday that they don't print menus and this is the first time I've heard this so we are onto our stationary team (future SIL is a graphic designer and has done an amazing job) to do some menus for us.
OH has his London Stag tonight. The main Stag was in Amsterdam but his Dad and friends couldn't go (we are an older bride and groom and are parents are in their 70s/early 80s) so he is having a second one tonight. I am going to sort out the table centres this weekend. I need to sort out the boxes and spray paint cardboard letters etc.
So what are you all up to? I know lots of us are becoming OMs but it would be good to hear about final preparations for the single ladies among us.
On a separate note my voice has gone AWOL since Tues so I am off work and speaking very little (the latter is very hard for me!). I use my voice all the time at work so I can't do the job without one. I have a Drs appt on Mon and if it's not 100% better then I'll be signed off for the week. We break up on Friday for two weeks anyway so it would've been my last week at work anyway. So if I do end up having the week off I can really get a head start on final tweaks for the wedding day. I'll get some extra workouts in too, try to get some sleep (hah!) and relax (ha, ha! very unlikely.) Every cloud heah? I'll have to see how my voice goes this weekend ...
Just wanted to say goodluck to all the brides who have upcoming weddings in October. I know I didn't post that much on these forums but you guys have been so helpful and informative!
My wedding is tomorrow and I can safely say I feel sick from nervousness! I'm not one for being the centre of attention as it is, I'm not a very confident person and to top it all off my face decided to break out the past 2 weeks so have been using cream to help (has reduced it but still got some spots!)
It's a registry in the afternoon, a little over 100 close family and friends with a banquet dinner at another venue in the evening with 420+
Just your typical oriental wedding LOL!
Hoping for dry weather tomorrow! Doesn't have to be sunny but as long as it doesn rain I'm happy! Dry with intermittent clouds apparently, but that could mean anything lol.
Awe good luck Romanticblueflowers! I know how you feel, I also hate being the centre of attention and it makes me feel a little sick at the thought of standing up in front of everyone so I'm going to focus on my OH waiting for me. It will be over so quick so try to relax I've another 2 weeks to wait.
That is a big wedding, I've only 100 in total and I thought that was a lot of people. I hope it all goes well and it's everything you wanted it to be.
I look forward to seeing your report if you do one
Vicki2015 - I'm not worried about being the centre of attention but I do worry about how emotional I will be during the vows and speeches. I would love to be composed and serene but I think I will be a blubbering mess. I listened to the music I am walking up the aisle to yesterday and cried the whole way through .... It's quite unsettling not knowing how you will react to such a big occasion, it feels like a loss of control which is a little scary ...
I'm hoping to make a speech but I'm going after my Dad and OH so I worry that I will be so tearful that I won't be able to get the words out ...
Just started our final good luck threads for the month!! OMG we will all soon be OMs!!!! Please let me know if I've missed you out or got the date wrong.
Just wanted to say it's been so horrid not being able to chat to you all - I've had no internet since the beginning of the month and am missing chatting to you guys! I hope everyone has had an amazing wedding who are now married and that everyone else is getting on really well with their prep! Fingers crossed I can get on more in the next few days!!
Hope you are all doing ok, I'm going to try really hard to catch up with everything I missed so please bear with me ? I did spot something about adding each other on Facebook and all being in a group ... am I allowed to join in please?
I've missed talking to you all, not long till more of us are OM's!!
Ok that made me laugh more than it probably should have!! I've missed you guys so much, sorry I've been AWOL but that's what happens when your ill on your wedding day/honeymoon.
I promise I will do a full report soon, I'm just waiting for some more pictures.
Lui - I'm still pretty ill tbh, I woke up on the Friday before my wedding with a horrible sore throat and a nasty cough. I figured it was just stress so I dosed up and powered through. Got up on Saturday and realised I felt even worse I text my mum before she came to pick me up so she came armed with cold & flu tablets and tissues, she made sure I took painkillers throughout the day and for most of it I was able to ignore it. Apart from when it came to food and I couldn't eat much, I didn't even eat any of my lovely cake! I think I haven't got over it yet because I haven't actually had time to rest.
It is totally normal to have a skin break out and the munchies! My skin was horrible for days before the wedding I just had to keep my make-up light and take it off as soon as I got home using some sensitive face wash, it soon settled down. As for eating, don't even try to stop it! You'll hardly eat anything on the day, so make like a camel and store it up!
Vicki2015 - Sorry to hear your having the dreaded spot trouble as well, I'm sure it'll all clear up fine. If in doubt, put toothpaste on it!
Oh thats doesn’t sound very good lovely! Hope it clears up
really quickly for you now.
I ‘m putting sudocream on my face every night and they have
gone down and I think it’s just my hormones mixed with stress as I’m just on
any time now. Luckily they are not so bad that make up won’t cover them.
I really do need to stop eating as I’m worried that I won’t
fit into my dress if I keep eating. Just all the food all the time. I’ve been
running but I swear my food intake is just going up and up and up!
How was York? Did you and Mr Panda enjoy it!
Also if you want to join the FB group, my Fb link is a few
pages back, if you add me I’ll add you to it, its a secret group at the moment
as for some reason i made it that way and wont let me change it on my phone.
Oh LMP you're back!!!! We genuinely missed you. I'm so sorry you weren't/aren't well, that sucks You look great in your photos so you hid your illness well. I hope your mini moon went well despite you being poorly.
Tell we about spots, I cut my face the other day, it looks like the skin rubbed off a spot (sorry a bit gross) so that's another thing to add to my face at the moment. Come on body what is going on??
I am soooo hungry at the moment. Everyone says you lose loads of weight just before. I don't know how with the amount I am eating.
I've have officially been signed off of work this week with laryngitis. It's not good that the job is affecting my health but it is good that I will be rested before the wedding. We break up on Friday anyway so the silver lining is that I have two (not one) week off of work to prepare for everything. My nails might have a chance to grow too back too now looking on the bright side.
Lui - Thanks sweetie, I think it'll be a trip to the doctors this week as the cough will not shift and it's affecting my asthma. Am back at work now as well which is just SO fantastic! Ah good ol sudocream it never fails. Hopefully it'll all clear up for you, just remember I had a HUGE spot on my chin and no-one noticed! The powers of a good make-up artist ? I honestly wouldn't worry about what your eating, with all of the stress you'll be burning off more calories than your eating without realising (this is my first piece of wise OM advice!!). Eat what is you want, and ignore what you don't. All I ate the week before was toast and pasta, yet my dress fit like a dream. Stress is a powerful calorie burner!
York was fantastic, Mr Panda and I had an amazing time ? I'll add you when I get home as I can't access FB at work ... it's like they think I won't do anything ...
BJNL - Hi lovely, it's good to be back and very nice to have been missed! Thank you for saying I look lovely in my photos, I can't wait to get the TOG ones back now I've seen my family & friends ones. I'm sure your face & nails will start to behave themselves soon, I can't believe how quickly this month is going! Sorry to hear you've been signed off work as well, make sure you rest lots and take some vitamins ?
LMP – You need to get better lovely! I mean who am i going
to have cocktails with if you are super sick. Do you think its jhust now
because you are winding down that its just getting on top of you.
Now, this isn’t good advice but needed, run away from work,
run away until you are better! I think its needed!
You have put my mind at ease regarding the food and I think
your right, so much stress that I will probably stay the same weight. It’s just
a massive worry as i don’t want to get to the day and it not zip up, it would
be my worse nightmare. (which may I add, I’ve already dreamt haha).
Glad you had a great time in York!! Did you go to the cake
shop there? I can’t remember what its called but its delicious. Is it betty’s?
I feel like its bettys.
Oh don't worry, I will always be better in time for cocktails! I think I'm still poorly because I powered through the wedding, and kept going for my mini moon last week so I haven't actually stopped and let myself get better. Couple of quietish days at work and I'll be fine...
It is quite awesome that I get to give OM advice now, I feel all wise and mature ? I promise you, your dress will do up. Just listen to what your body wants. I ate nothing but toast and pasta (and a fair amount of pizza tbh) I was fine.
Ooh yes we went to Betty's Tea Rooms, it's so lush!!
Good because we cant have you ill for cocktails! I hope Mr
Panda is looking after you.
Hahaha Its nice to get OM advice from someone I trust. You
know when others you haven’t really spoken to give you advice its like....”yeaaaa
but i doubt that’s true” where as you I know it’s true!
My body is getting everything it wants, with Halloween coming,
I get excited and eat all the Halloween sweets (theres a fat child in me
somewhere.) i weighed myself this morning and I’m still the same weight, Im
just worried im putting on inches. Inches are the devil! haha! Im sure im not
but paraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanoid!
Also am i the only girl who cant girl because i did not know
about sudocream. Its worked wonders on my skin. Like i said it didn’t help it
was my period and my skin goes mental but its clearing up alot.
I love bettys!! I want to go back and eat some macarons!
My plans are going ok, just got to finish the card box and
make the favours and their boxes then im pretty close to be done. I’m just super busy all the other time so its
hard to fit it in as im down in London this week and one day next week so
getting the time to do anything when I’m not working its very hard.
How are you? How is weather watch going? I've never been so interested in the forecast! The mornings are a bit iffy here but it soon seems to brighten up. I keep hearing about an artic wind that is due to come this way ... at least the hurricane is no longer!! I look at 'accuweather' and they say it will rain on the 24th, so I've changed to a site that says it won't. Maybe I should stop looking now and wait until nearer the time, especially if I'm favouring sites with the most promising forecasts!!
I bought a 'sixpence' yesterday from Ebay. I paid £1.50 for sixpence, arf Is/did anyone else doing/do that? Won't it be uncomfortable? I'll try it for a while and just take it out if it bothers me. They could sell me anything right now if they say it's tradition and will help us have good fortune in our marriage. We weren't going to have confetti until I heard that it can bestow prosperity and fertility on the couple! I just found an article that lists many of the traditions for any that might like to take a peak https://www.confetti.co.uk/wedding/planning-organising/wedding-traditions-and-superstitions/
Today my engagement ring is due back from having a much needed clean. It'll be nice to have it back. I don't think I'll wear it on the day on my right hand. Will/did any of you? I like the idea of not having any rings but the one OH puts on my finger on the day. I'll wear them both together afterwards.
OH tried on his suit and accessories yesterday to make sure the fit is still OK. He looks very dapper (but then I am completely biased!) and it's so nice to see him in something more tailored. He likes things simple so the boys in the bridal party are wearing lounge suits. I would've liked the whole morning suit thing, but this is OH's decision and I'm happy to go with it. I want him to be comfortable and he didn't dictate what I am wearing. I managed to get him in a waistcoat though, which just completes the look and sets him apart so it's perfect
Today I'm just doing some a few wedding bits and pieces and finalising my speech. It lovely to have the time to spend doing all of these things.
LMP - Thank for your very kind words and I hope you are on the mend. My hair is good at the moment (touch wood), I'm putting extensions in anyway so it's all good. My nails also seem to be playing the game at the moment. I will just keep fingers and hairs crossed that it all comes together. My spots also seemed to have ceased or now so I'm on track. What will be, will be there's always concealer and the odd fake nail/tip if needs be, nothing will ruin my day with OH.
Do you have any advice for us soon to be OMs? I know it was unfortunate that you were unwell on the day Did you sleep the night before? Did the day go as fast as you thought? Did you get emotional at any point? Did you throw your bouquet? Did you tell everyone you were on mini moon and get any freebies? So many questions, so little time
Btw - Firsttimebride83 I think you're next up on 21 October. How are you going? All set?
Lui - Don't you worry chicken, I'll be well for cocktails! Mr Panda is taking good care of me, and I am a bit better today.
Aw it's nice to hear I'm trusted ? I'll always be honest with you guys, anything you wanna know just ask!
I also have a fat child in me that loves sweeties, especially left over wedding sweeties ... my house is a dieters nightmare right now ? Don't be paranoid, you will wind yourself up and make yourself ill and believe me you do not want that. Just be normal and everything will sort itself out.
And no your not the only girl who can't girl, I had to google how to apply mascara when I started wearing make-up! Glad to hear sudocream is working for you it is a little miracle.
Ok so after we've had cocktails we'll go to Betty's...
It sounds like your right on track though lovely, I know it's probably all super scary right now but the bits you have left probably won't take as long as you think. I know I thought my favours would take forever but my mum and I had them done in 20 minutes!
BJNL - You are doing exactly what I was doing, I didn't like the BBC weather forecast so I looked somewhere else! I'd say try to look too much if you can help it as it'll change between now and the start of next week anyway. I had a sixpence courtesy of Miss Lynx and it wasn't uncomfortable. I did have insoles in my shoes though so I put the sixpence under that. I didn't know what the traditions where behind confetti but I'm glad we had it now! My MOH kept my engagement ring in its box and after we'd had all our photos I put it back on with my wedding ring but I know some people like to just wear their wedding ring. Glad to hear your happy with your OH's suit, I'm sure he looks very nice Very pleased that you have a positive attitude that nothing will ruin your day, it's so easy to worry and let things threaten what is such an amazing time (she speaks from experience here!)
To answer your questions: I took all my normal meds in the run up to the wedding, being ill was just unfortunate timing I did sleep the night before as I cheated and took a Piriton (I'd suggest you take one a few times beforehand to check it works as not everyone gets drowsy ... not that I'm encouraging taking hayfever tablets to get some sleep!) The day didn't whizz by like everyone said, to me it went at a really nice pace and I was able to going every moment of it I got emotional when I saw my OH and also I was saying my vows but that was only because my OH got nervous, that set me off then! I didn't throw my bouquet as I had a handmade silk flower bouquet complete with some of my great-grandma's jewellery so I was always going to keep it. We didn't mention we were on our mini moon, but a couple of people in restaurants asked if it was a special occasion so we told them and ended up getting free drinks ?
Thanks LMP, look at you and just an OM and giving advice to us single ladies You were always so helpful and supportive as a bride-to-be and now you are helping us an OM.
I reckon I will have a blow out (food-wise) on the wedding day or just afterwards. It's been a year of hard workouts, careful eating and rations of treats. I reckon I'll just attach my mouth to one of the wedding cake tiers and stay there for most of the night!
You're right about the forecast, I just need to wait until nearer the time.
I'll see how I get on with the sixpence. I might wrap in a thin, soft layer.
Good idea re engagement ring. I think I'll wait until I'm and OM of 1 day to put them both on together. Do/did you keep looking at your ring finger?
I'm such a bad sleeper anyway, this excitement will make me spectacularly bad. When OH proposed I didn't sleep for about two weeks, seriously!!! I'll just rest when my body is ready and try to be relaxed about it.
It's heartening to hear that the day didn't fly by, let's hope that's the same for the rest of us.
How sweet that you both got emotional, so lovely. OH and everyone else are under strict instructions not to cry/let me see them crying or they will set me off.
Thanks again for sharing your pearls of wisdom about the big day. Any more tips welcome.
BJNL - It is really strange to be giving out advice now, but it's nice to think I might be being helpful That's lovely of you to say I was always helpful and supportive, thank you.
If you decide to eat a whole tier of wedding cake no-one will judge you! If I had been feeling well I'd have grabbed our chocolate cake, hidden under a table and scoffed the lot!! We spend such a long time carefully monitoring everything we eat that honestly it is total bliss when you don't have that worry ... I have joyfully embraced coffee again after banning it for a year, didn't realise how much I'd missed it.
Try to not check the forecasts till Monday at the earliest, but I know the temptation.
The other trick with sixpences that I read is to put it nearer the heel of your shoe, as your heel is naturally a bit less sensitive than the ball of your foot. I don't know if that works, as I mentioned mine was under an insole so it was no bother really.
Some people do like to have their wedding ring on it's own for the big day but I felt too weird without mine. I can't stop looking at my sparklies now, but nor can my OH which is quite funny.
One thing that is great if you struggle to nod off is lavender oil. Just put a couple of drops on your pillow, breathe deeply and you'll be nodding off in no time!
I told my OH that we'd be fine and neither of us would get emotional but that plan went to pot haha. I don't think you can stop yourself from getting a bit tearful, but fear of ruining my make-up stopped me from all out sobbing!
Anything else you want to know I'm happy to share xx
I foolishly looked at an article on the weather today, all the swans have migrated and a cold Autumn chill is about to set in. LMP you are right I need to stop looking at the weather and what will be, will be. The weather has been great for us Autumn brides especially as the Summer was so bad. We are heading for November so actually it's not too bad The dress is as far from natural fibres as you can imagine (I only hope no one lights a match near me!) so I'd rather this than a boiling hot, sweaty day.
I am going to chase up the engagement ring today as the jewellers are very quiet. They had a new till system when we left it there to be cleaned so who knows what service they asked for?! I made in roads with the various boxes we have to take to the venue with tea lights, table centres etc so I'll carry on with that today. OH was also very helpful putting new batteries into the tea lights.
LMP - You're OM advice is great thanks. It is very helpful to hear from someone who is a recent OM. If you think of any other tips I for one am all ears I have put up a post on the main feed about it and people have made some really good suggestions too.
How are you feeling today? A little better I hope? I love your 'count up' now saying how long you've been married All I can say is CCCAAAKKKEEEE!!! I can't wait to eat some. You made me laugh when you said you would've sat under the table and eaten all of yours had you been in better health! You are right about the forecast I will not look at any more long range forecasts and wait until next week. Thanks for the sixpence in the heel idea, I hadn't thought of that. I love the fact that yourself and OH keep looking at the ring. How lovely a sign of your union and marriage for all to see.
So with just 10 days to go its started...the MIL is driving me mad, i was cross at the Hubby to be as he was more concerned about painting our decking than writing his speech and I woke him up at 3am to discuss seating arrangements for the ceremony!lol
on a serious note, I'm so blooming excited i could burst but it isn't hard stressful
MrsFRtobe it sounds like it's very eventful you end .... hopefully things aren't as stressful now as they have been. Did you sort out the speech and the decking? I'm also usually thinking about wedding at 3am in the morning but OH is always sound asleep at that time. I must try and join him one of these nights and get some sleep.
It's all very exciting (we are date twins) but like I said before, I just don't seem to realise that it's just around the corner. We are into single figures from tomorrow with 9 days to go!!!
I know BJNL! I'm off today and just about to head to the venue to meet my photographer so we can chat about what pics we want etc then off to see my cake lady with our topper, its a very exciting wedding day!
My girlfriends are all taking me out next tuesday for a last meal as a MISS!!!and I only have 3 more working days left!
Hello lovely October ladies. I feel like I haven't been here for aaaaages. So in summary of my catch up of this thread: sudocrem - yes! Amazing stuff! And York - I'm mini mooning in York! I need to know the good places to go.
I can't believe how stressful the last couple of weeks have been. We now supposed to be completing on our house next Friday and the kids have both had chicken pox to add to the stress. Just have to remember to breathe!
Hope all well today? Watching 'Four Weddings' while doing a few wedding bits. I just couldn't go on that programme and would hate to have strangers at the day being very critical.
Tookmytime - If you see this then all the best for tomorrow!! I think you're the only bride that is getting married tomorrow?
AnnaMolly - Sorry things are so stressful for you, it must be tough to juggle of those things.
MrsFRToBe – You made me laugh, you’re right it is just soooo exciting. I don’t think I’ve looked forward to anything this much since I was a child. The lack of sleep is ridiculous …
I'm watching Four Weddings too! while I finish my napkins The worldwide one just now, a ranch wedding in America is on. I'd love to visit other peoples weddings but I'd hate to do the voting - some of them are so nasty!
Are you all organised for your wedding? I've still got a few bits and bobs to do, I thought I'd be organised but little things have cropped up - my cousins can't make it so need to re-write the seating plan.
