OM dress *Flash* - Model vs Real

xlovebirdsx, 30 August, 2012 at 08:47 Posted on Planning 0 95

I thought it would be fun to flash a pic of the dress as you first saw it on the model and then what you looked like wearing it on the day.

When I first asked to try on the dress id seen, I didnt really like it. But then my BM suggested changing the belt and I was in love with it!

This thread may hopefully help new brides choose their dress, as the picture of the model in the dress doesnt reflect how it will actually look when you try it on xx

I saw this dress in Perfect Wedding Magazine:

I haven't read your report yet but you look lovely!

Did you add the little sleeves or was it a bolero you can remove?

Really good idea for a thread this ?

I think the model picture is really rubbish...

I think the model looks more exotic than me, and her arms are far more toned of course! I haven't really got a nice full legnth snap of me posing in the dress but here's my best efforts

Is this a Coco Couture dress from Pronuptua pandorasbox?

I think all the dresses everyone has posted look better on them than the model, lovely happy ladies and gorgeous dresses!

Wow, I've been looking in here for someone with a Mia Sposa/Coco Couture for months! Yours looks amazing on you, and seems to have really suited your wedding day.

Were you pleased with it? I ordered my Cody dress from them in Manchester last November and I'm itching to get into it! I rang them this morning and they have gone from saying it will be in 6 weeks before, then 4 weeks before and now today they said it will be in 3 weeks before......the wedding is at the start of October so I know I've got time, I'm just being an inpatient bride probably!

I have never met anyone else who has heard of or tried on a CC/MS dress! I was pleased generally as it didn't break the bank so to speak, but didn't feel cheap like some lower budget dresses I tried in other stores, it was really comfy to wear as well. In fact I only really started to feel a bit restricted by the corset/boning by the end of the reception. The detailing was stunning and everyone commented on it.

What did you think about the staff in Pronuptia? I thought most of the ladies were great but there was one mega grump who basically refused to make me an appointment to get it fitted! Don't worry, mine was going to be in 4 weeks before but it ended up being 3 weeks before I actually had a fitting. I was also very impatient to get in there to see it and try it on! After it had been fitted properly we picked it up 3 days before the wedding.

Just make sure you check it over carefully, my mum collected mine and as the shop is very dark and shadowy missed that there were a couple of loose beads, some pin holes where they had covered the front detail in muslin, and there were a few little marks so I ended up going back the next day so they could spot clean and re-steam it.

Just googled your Cody dress, it looks gorgeous!

Oh wow all the dresses look absolutely gorgeous!! Can't wait til I'm married and can join in with this! Although I've only actually managed to find one photo of my dress online, and it took me so long to find it!

Why do they always try the dresses on stick thin models with no curves and not a smiling face in sight! They look so much better on the brides each and every time! xxx

Thank you! I wish I was dainty enough to carry off an intricate and beautiful dress like yours.

The Pronuptia shop was the first(and only) dress shop I went to, I'd seen Cody and another one online and loved the look of them. I didn't particularly have a budget in mind, but there was a %age offer on at the time so ended up getting the dress, tiara and veil for less then the dress would have cost normally! Also, I really loved the dress, so no point in spending more money than you need to, although I was fine with spending £169 on wedding shoes?!

I think I know who you mean, the two times I've been back in to show friends I've been greeted by a small very pleasant lady and the other time by a grumpy woman.

Thanks for the advice too, it is like a cave in there so I will take the time to double check all the beading and seams. I've waited this long I want it as good as possible!
