Opinions on Ivory dress and White table linen and chair covers??

MrsFreeman2b, 11 July, 2012 at 10:11 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi ladies,

How many of you are having an ivory dress and white table linen and chair covers??

The dress i have fellin love with is ivory but my venue have white linen? Will it look too odd? I have never really wanted a white dress..my colouring just looks better with ivory..

Any flashes / advice / info would be appreciated...

Thanks

Dani x

    Exactly what kharv said.

I haven't ordered my dress yet but it'll be ivory, I'm having all my stationery in white card as the ivory looked a little odd imo. Men will be in white shirts too. Seriously it will look fine and won't matter one bit.

WEES. I reckon as long as the table linen matches the chair covers, you're fine.

Er, it will be fine. White linen is traditionally used.

    This!

Why on earth would you want to blend in with a table? ?

Oddly enough my mum was worried about this exact same thing and asked if I was going to have ivory table linen if I have an ivory dress..

I honestly thought she was a bit mad, it never even occurred to me to match my linen with the dress, nobody is going to notice, I doubt I will even notice.

We do weddings at my hotel all the time with white linen and brides wear all sorts of colours, it seems quite ordinary to have white linen..

OP, it isnt necessary to match your dress to the linen but if you do want to and your venue is able to, bear in mind quite often there is an extra charge..

Where do you draw the line? Would you like ivory plates too?

This made me giggle! I have to admit having thought along the same lines, though - we have a claret and ivory theme and I was thinking of having claret table runners over ivory linen, until I found our supplier doesn't have that colour and I'd have to source them elsewhere. So, white it is, then! You can bring in your theme colours by other means - centrepieces etc to tie everything together.

    Thanks for the replies...

Tbh, it wasnt something i thought, or took any notice of at weddings that i had attaned... But when 3 of my friends mentioned they made sure the dress / linen was the same colour i presumed it was a done thing... Im glad its not to be honest, cos didnt want to spend unneccessary money on linen...

    Thanks xx

I hadn't even thought about it. I do know someone that paid extra for ivory table linen for this reason but if you can't tell where your dress stops and the table cloth starts, I'd say that was more of a dress issue!

I did briefly worry that my ivory would look 'dirty' next to white linen and shirts, but when I compared it on google image pics it actually looks fine.
