Order of Service

Sarah, 17 August, 2021 at 09:34 Posted on Planning 0 5

Is it a thing for each guest to have their own order of service card on their seat or more standard to have a sign somewhere?

I thought I would like to make my own order of service cards and attach an organza bag filled with confetti to it so I know each guest has got biodegradable confetti for our 'confetti shot' and leave them on each seat for the ceremony or maybe somewhere on a table for when guests arrive before taking their seats?

An actual "order of service" is usually associated with a Church ceremony and details the Bridal procession, readings -by whom, the ceremony, hyms, the music to be played while the register is signed - and so on. And it is usually in a booklet form. For this you can get away with one per couple.

If you are talking about a civil ceremony at a venue then a single sign for everyone will be ok and that will usually just highlight the timings of key events throughout the day.

I think that your idea of a card suggests that it is a civil ceremony. Usually known as Order of the Day.

I would put the confetti in your bags and on the seats but not the card in the bag. The danger is that people will either spill half of the confetti getting it out or not realise it is an order of the day and leave it in there. I think its best to attach it to the outside of the bag.

Here is a thread about order of the day written on pallets. https://forums.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/thread/order-of-day-1070502/

They look perfect. Not sure of the size of those but the bags of confetti look a bit small for a decent shot.

I included the order of the day as part of our wedding invitation, everyone said how lovely it was as they didn’t have to second guess what time they might need to eat before coming.

Agree with Marcie, send in advance so people have an idea of timelines and especially useful for those who may need to grab a snack in the 'downtimes'. Our ceremony is at 12 but is an hour from where most of our guests live and then an hour back to reception venue so we are making up some snack bags for people to take for the journey back and keep them going as there is a large gap between when they will have had to leave to get to ceremony and the meal, one thing I hate is being hungry! We also have a page on our wedding website with all the info on so people can check it easily on the day if needed

We are planning a festival style wedding and thinking of having a big pallet sign for everyone to see as you enter the venue but also an order of the day card or something on a lanyard with maybe a drink token or confetti pouch, these will also double up as wedding favors! Smiley laugh
