O/T Eyelash Tinting

Mrs_T2B, 7 March, 2011 at 09:32 Posted on Planning 0 18

Good morning ladies, I hope you're all well.

Just a quick one; have any of you ever had your eyelashes tinted? Was going to get semi permanent lashes for the big day & for the honeymoon but I've haerd alot of negative feedback about it and at £70 a pop I don't want them falling out after a couple of days! Can't be doing with running mascara on my wedding/honeymoon, so tints would be good...hopefully.

Thanks in advance,

MrsT2B x

Can't really help with the eyelash tints I'm afraid, but am hoping to try it in the next month or so to see what its like. But I was just curious as to what negative things you've heard about the extensions, as I was hoping to try these too (but am a bit nervous about it as I don't want all my own lashes to fall out or anything!).

Get a skin test done first!

I used to get mine done all the time& my eyebrows, didnt bother for a couple of years & went to get them done for a holiday & my eyes got all red & itchy & really sore!

Thought it was a one off so tried again & same thing happened! (different salon this time).

So Im not bothering anymore - I dont know why i suddenly became allergic.

But it was a great job when I was able to get them done.x

That they ruin your own lashes, and fall out after a few days of having them. A risk I'm not willing to take for £70 especially as I'll be oviously going in the pool/sea etc on honeymoon.

    Hi both

I regularly have my eyelashes tinted every 6 weeks as they are so fair and totally recommend - takes literally 5 mins :o) but get a skin test done

I also had eyelash extensions on the day (took 2hours to do) and they were fabulous! and lasted for 4 weeks but some did drop out on honeymoon - more to do with the suncream I think as they don't like oilbased products but had enough to last me through to 4 weeks and i still have a couple left now. didn't need any mascara on day or honeymoon

    Would recommend both xxx

    Morning,

Eyelash tinting is really good as it gives your lashes the colour that mascara does. It lengthen thems as the colour goes all the way to the tip of each lash. The only problem is that it doesn't thicken them so I usually use clear mascara on my brides to help thicken the lashes if they have had them tinted.

Waterproof mascara is also very good as it won't run down your face on your wedding day. Although with your honeymoon it's whether you can be doing with putting on waterproof mascara everyday or if you want to just get up and go type of thing.

I had semi permanent eyelashes for my wedding day and loved them. It cost £75 and took an hour and half to have them done but they were great. I didn't bother with mascara on the day or all honeymoon yet had long thick curled lashes. They don't fall out, as they come out when your own lashes naturally fall out. At the end of my honeymoon I wasn't too careful with them and was rubbing my eyes etc which caused them to come out breaking my own lashes. So you need to either let then naturally come out or get them taken off in the salon. If you do this then there isn't any damage to your own lashes at all.

I tint my own lashes with a kit from boots called 30 day mascara. It only cost me about £6 and there's enough in there to tint my lashes for about a year.

Mum has falses put on as her eyelashes are really short. The salon dint give her ANY advice about care, recommending oil free eye make-up or anything. Within 2 days they were clumping together & falling out. Really looked a mess for weeks.

Make sure its a reputable place and get a recommendation if you can. I'm temped to try them but worried after the state of mums lashed afterwards.

I am another fan of tinting my lashes, I get mine done every 6 weeks and go for the blue/black which is the darkest. I love it and would defo recommend, normally only costs £10-£15.

Have you not just thought about normal false lashes?

£70? Is it special tint? I 've got mine done a couple of times as I hate putting mascara on and it cost about £6-7. It really stung though immediately so not sure if I'd do it a third time! I'm more confident with mascara now though!

I got my eyelashes tinted about 6 weeks ago and had no problems - had a test first to make sure would be ok. i am quite pleased with them and it was not expensive - about 15.

If you do get them done, first time, it's best to get them professionally done as they would be more experienced and know what they are doing.
Eyelash tinting does not hurt, it's like the way you dye your hair, accept you have a brush, kinda like using eyelash enhancer that contains natural ingredients.
You can also choose what color, like midnight blue, usually those who have very light eyes and hair, get them tinted darker, as it stands out more. It brings your eyes out more. i know a girl at my school with blonde hair and she got her eyelashes tinted black, everybody thought it was thick mascara she used, but it was all from the tinting. I say give it a go.
I'm planning to get mine done too. Smiley smile

I only tend to dye my lashes myself (use a kit from boots) as I don't think the difference is dramatic enough to warrant paying a therapist to do it. As for the extensions, I would recommend the individual lashes rather than the party lashes. That way, if the odd one falls out it is less obvious. I also found they lasted longer than the party (group/strip lashes).

I found someone local that is HD brow trained and she does treatments such as lvl lashes and individual extensions, so i will be testing these treatments out nearer the time of my wedding. I think its better to go to someone that specialises in that area rather than a general beautician
