Hey everyone,

So I was married around 6 months ago, my photographer had sent me an online gallery which at first look were amazing. On reflection, people weren’t looking, squinting, eyes shut, he was rude on the day, was clearly fed up with group shots and kept pushing for the shots he wanted (‘I’ve seen this great shot of… I want to get a shot of…’) etc.
I have no bridal party photos, no bridesmaid shots, only 6
When my mother posted this on his Facebook he blamed me for not having ‘a shot list’ - he had asked me 2 days before the wedding for a list for family group shots - not for every single photo or group picture I wanted. As you can imagine I was quite busy two days before the wedding. He was unprofessional and tried to blame me posting a reply to my mother with a screenshot of our conversation- omitting the part where he asked for ‘family’ shots. He then blocked and deleted us both from all his social media pages, made a new page on Facebook and blocked us from that. I recently went to send a family member the link to the online gallery to find he had also removed that…
I emailed him and asked for a full refund due the fact he was unprofessional, didn’t photograph my day fully and had poor quality images. I’ve had to have every single family portrait photoshopped! He was rude in his reply to my very diplomatic email and has refused to refund me… he sent a new link to the photos but they’re still dreadful!
I feel so lost. Such a huge event in my life I don’t have the memories I wanted, it was all about what he wanted to take photos of and he just got extremely defensive and blamed me for it all. There is nothing in the contract at all about any discrepancies or complaints. I have politely asked for my money back and he has refused and blamed me. What can I do now? I haven’t bad mouthed him anywhere but I don’t want another bride or groom to be let down like this.
Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Seeing everyone talk about wedding photography advice makes me think about my own profile pic! I've been using squarefacegenerator lately to make a retro avatar for my forum accounts, and it's kinda fun to have something unique and pixelated, haha.

This is such a helpful forum! As a photographer myself, I'm always looking for ways to make images more accessible for clients. I've been using AVIF to JPG lately to convert those newer AVIF files some cameras produce, ensuring everyone can view their wedding photos.

This photographer advice thread is super helpful, especially as I'm trying to make my wedding inspo come to life! I've been using AnimeVolt for creating storyboards and visual mockups, which surprisingly helps me communicate my vision to the photographers and planners way better. It's been a game changer!
