Post-appendectomy - normal?

My 12 year old son had an emergency appendectomy on the 2.3.22. It was ruptured and there was a nasty infection in his abdomen, spent 10 days as a inpatient. Fast forward to today (15.3.22) and he's home but stooped and walking stiffly, and suffering from what he says are sharp pains in his left near th bottom of his ribs when he lays down, gets up or laughs/coughs. No temp, no vom, and drs just said "could be nothing, could be liver, keep an eye"🤦so I jut want to know if anyone who also had a ruptured appendix had these same post-op issues and if they went away or if it turned out to be a future problem?
