Reception a week after wedding

Faye, 21 August, 2021 at 18:30 Posted on Planning 1 8
Hi I’m planning my wedding and really need your opinions. We have decided to have a small ceremony and meal with just immediate family on the day we get married and a big party to celebrate with wider family and friends a week later. Do we still do things like first dances and bride and dad dances and would it be weird to wear my dress ? I’m worrying thinking it might all just seem a bit strange or maybe not feel like a wedding at all of that makes sense. Has anyone done anything similar ?

Thank you it sounds a bit silly to say that makes me feel better but it does 😂.

Long story short 😄 we have a church wedding the week before our bigger occasion. Only close members for the church one, 6 people. This was so we could have a Catholic wedding and to be legally married despite what goes on with Covid. We will have a really nice meal after. For that theres no fuss as such, I'm wearing a jumpsuit and keeping everything low-key. It's meant to be intimate and our day.

The wedding week after is where we are doing the whole shebang (two ceremonies and evening reception!), it's more for our guests. Depends what you both want I guess.

Literally doing this myself. This was more due to planning in the middle of Covid but I am glad we did that. The way we are doing it the bulk of “traditional” stuff will happen on the “party” the following week Smiley smile the “first wedding” how we call it is going to be a lot more relaxed

We are doing this for our one year anniversary as we had a very intimate wedding before restrictions eased.

With all things considered (especially with Covid) it’s expected that arrangements will be spread out a bit. I think people will be happy to be there more than anything and at least you get good wear of your dress x

I don't think it will be weird at all. I've read about people spreading their wedding over 2 or 3 days due to Covid. People are getting pretty used to things being a bit different now. Do the bits you'd like to do, it's your day 🙂
