I picked up my wood slices today for my table centrepieces. I found someone who makes them in the midlands area (but ships them all over the country). He makes the most amazing things specifically for the couple, I went to pick mine up as I live locally and he had wreaths, carvings of couples...

He makes the most amazing things specifically for the couple, I went to pick mine up as I live locally and he had wreaths, carvings of couples initials in logs, little individual pieces of wood for name cards...everything really. And he's so friendly!

Anyway, felt the need to share my good experience. His e-bay page is

I added this seller to my favourites a while ago after originally seeing this thread and slices were listed at one time at £29.99 each. Cake stands were a couple of hundred quid. I think originally they may have been cheap, but definitely not any more ☹️

I did also buy some smaller wood slices in auction and wouldn't again to be honest. It was a mixed lot up to 13cm. I got just 2x 13cm slices and the rest was a bag of what looked like little chunks of twig.

The tree surgeon I know was more than happy to help & he's given me some slices already but as I said, some of them are a bit wrecked already. I have the number of another one & will call them tomorrow.

    Your wedding sounds wonderful x

He's replied & asked me if I want a brochure. I've asked for a price for the slices so will see what he says.

Just to let everyone know, he's just quoted me £6.50-9.50 for log slices depending on the wood type. Can I ask what you had OP?

He's also given me an excellent price for pine cones & table number holders.

I know he told me but I can't remember! might have been pine? to be honest once treated they will all look the same/similar so I wouldn't go for any of the more expensive woods. He treats them with cooking oil so you can use them as food platters later if you like xx

Surely you can find pine cones for free in many different woods? Does he change them in some way or are they unusual/special? If not I have a new business idea ?

Yeah he said he uses cooking oil cuz treatments mean you can't use them for food. Mine are for centre pieces though so it makes no odds!

He's being very helpful & is charging me just 10p for pieces of branch to be used as table number holders Smiley smile xx

I could but I haven't really got time. I need 300 & 90 of them need to be large & roughly the same size. He's only charging 99p per 50, I'd spend more than that in petrol driving to the woods! He isn't doing anything to them as far as I know apart from sorting them in size.

Fabulous! We had a hand fasting in a woodland after the register office, everyone stood in a circle and the 'flower fairy girls' ran around sprinkling petals. We then had our hands tied with ivy by a good friend and it was really magical :-)
