Red bridesmaid dress for summer wedding

I really like the thought of red bridesmaid dresses but they seem to be better fitted for autumn/winter weddings.
My wedding will be in the summer so I'm not sure if it will look a bit odd. I was looking at a red wine colour but I wonder if a lighter red would make it more summery?
Has anyone been to a summer wedding with a red theme and thought it looked a bit odd? I know I should just go for what I want but I'm just curious on other people's thoughts!
I did also wonder if red wine would stand out more than my dress than a pastel coloured dress

    I love a summery red! You could go for more of a nautical or chilli pepper red - these are still clearly reds but are often paired with summery colours like turquoise or yellow Smiley smile

    Strangely enough, my first thought was about fresh summer strawberries, which I guess translates to YES, red can be very summery. It's all about what you pair it with I think Smiley smile

    Thanks guys, it's nice to know the red won't look odd! I think I may have just seen too many Pinterest pictures of winter weddings with darker red! I'll see if I can see any dresses in a brighter red.

    I’m also going with red for my summer wedding (like a crimson/strawberry), so I’m going to say it can definitely work as a summer colour. I’m also trying to find somewhere that does this shade of bridesmaid dresses.
