Thanks! I need to have a look at hair, tiaras and veils really - start gathering some ideas.

I think at weddings I have been to, the veil has come off after the photos before the breakfast. I wonder where you put your veil when you've taken it off.

Your hotel looks lush! I have no idea about mine yet - waiting to organise it when the flight details come out. So mightily jealous of all you people who have booked theirs!

Superduff I love the second dress - its gorgeous and I reckon it would flatter any shape Smiley smile

I am not wearing a veil so unfortunately can't comment one way or the other! Mind you I still don't know whats going on my head so who knows. But I think as long as your veil is put somewhere safe you will be ok.

Thanks! I am quite excited to go shopping for dresses now! Despite having a mingy cold.

We only know where we're going because we went there this year and loved the hotel. Matt doesn't really do long haul, so it would have needed to have been reasonably 'close' anyway. Have you got anywhere on your bucket list you'd both like to go to? If we hadn't done Tenerife, we'd probably have gone for Norway/Sweden to see the Aurora Borealis (sp?), as that's on our lists!

I think we have decided definitely on Florida (for disney and the like!) or a road trip in America incorporating Vegas. Dan has never really been on holiday (we had our first holiday abroad this year - first in 5 years! before that it was DUblin lol) so he doesn't really have anywhere on his list - probably everywhere Smiley smile I however have Disneyland, Vegas (or any other American city) and Hawaii on mine. Decisions decisions lol! We figure its probably going to be our last major holiday before we have kids etc so going to make it a big one - hence it being 7 or 8 months after the wedding

Is anyone dieting for their big day? I am not a fan of diets so just eating healthily(ish) and have started doing zumba again in the hope that my flappy bits get less flappy, also have a 26.2 mile walk in May next year to do so hoping that the training for that will get me a bit toned. I have done SW in the past but I haven't got any motivation to do it again!

Saw a florist at The Floriade today - he was so so enthusiastic! I loved him he was awesome, he got a feel for exactly what it was I wanted, gave me some good suggestions in return and was generally so much more into it than the last lady I saw. I actually skipped out of his shop lol (no I hadn't been drinking it was half 11!) but his enthusiasm was so infectious I really felt like what I was asking for was ok. He totally got the feel of the wedding (or the theory of it anyway) and knew exactly what it was he needed to do. Hopefully his quote will come in at the budget my dad has set and we are good to go but I think even if not I will pay the extra (somehow!) and get him to do my flowers. I think when you have a connection you need to act on it and I am going to! It may mean going short on food for a while lol but hey who needs chocolate!

Oh have given in my ER to be redipped - I was so sad when I left the shop cos my finger felt so bare! I miss my ER - its the first time its been off my finger and I feel weird without it!

Not much other wedding news to report, but will be putting up my christmas tree tomorrow and wrapping more presents that have been delivered.

Anyone doing anything interesting this weekend or got awesome wedding news to share? Think my next news will be the ordering of the wedding rings but have a feeling it will be Jan before that happens!

Oooh Florida and Vegas sound fab! Do make the most of going away while you can - our honeymoon is our first holiday together as we had kids quite quickly, then never had the money or the guts to take the kids very far! We always wanted to do a driving holiday from one side of Canada to the other...on hold for a few more years yet!

Superduff - any joy with the dress shopping?

As for dieting...am totally useless at that. Don't really want to lose weight as my dress fits perfectly now - love to gain an inch or two in height though! I will def be waiting til after xmas before I think about eating sensibly. I did have a chuckle the other day - on a wedding planner at 6 months before it had 'start a beauty regime'...guess that's more than a scrub each morning!

Yay to your florist Curvygirl! You sound like you totally clicked with him. You've got to do it if it feels right. MILs neighbour is doing ours and I have every confidence in her even though we haven't had a chat yet, cos I love her style. No idea how much she is going to be though!!!

I haven't made any more progress yet. Ordered the ring guage from WRD. Chosen the car but not booked as trying to justify the spend. Oh but big news, we now have a best man!!! Long story behind it but finally getting somewhere!

    Evening!

Welcome Stephy - your proposal sounds lovely! Whereabouts are you looking at getting married in North Devon?

Sadly, the dress shopping didn't go brilliantly. The first dress she tried on (the latte colour) looked a bit bland and "meh". The second one looked awful. My sister is not blessed in the boob department and it didn't look very good. Mind you, we have oodles of time yet, so it isn't too much of an issue.

Yay for Floriade CG - that's good news! They always seem to have nice displays in their window too, throughout the year. The one next door is quite new, and can be a bit strange (in my opinion anyway). It's always good to come out of somewhere like that on a bit of a high!

And yay for the gauge from WRD too Bex - that's good news. Don't forget to keep the discount code somewhere handy though if you do decide to order from them - Ihad to hunt for aaaaages to find mind.

I am dieting at the moment. I have been since before we got engaged, and I have lots to lose. I'm with Slimming World and that seems to be pretty easy going (though I have struggled of late with it). Skincare wise, I am probably going to carry on with what I'm doing, and I'm having my hair trimmed every 10/12 weeks at the moment to try and get the length consistent and the split ends gone.

I love Woolacombe! We camp on one of the sites going into Woolacombe when friends go surfing/body boarding (I'm more akin to a sea inhabiting mammal and am designated bag watcher/photographer, which suits me perfectly! lol)

Oooh... beach BBQ wedding breakfast... (off on a total tangent now!)

Ooh Woolacombe Bay, how lovely! The hotel has been done up really nicely too. Welcome aboard!

Oh what a shame about the dress shopping. At least you still have plenty of time. Something might come up in the sales, you never know!

    Happy New Year Devonians!

    Any news/updates/new people?

I went shopping with my sister and got a Coast dress for her BM dress. It was in the sale - looks lovely. It's a claret colour (not the choc and orange theme we were going for, but the dress is lovely, so will start going back to the original idea of a colour palette rather than strict colours). I was also given a guest book by Matt's nan for Christmas. It is a Boofle type one (not my thing I'm afraid - yep, the dog is cute, but not on my wedding stationary thanks! In fairness, I don't think we'd told her about our guest book being a wide edged frame with a photo of us in the middle).

So that's the church, reception, TOG, the rings, my dress, my sister's dress all sorted.

    x

    Hello!

Not much of an update from me at the moment, just getting back into the swing of things after Christmas Smiley smile Have definitely got my florist now which is awesome, just printed off a list of things that should be done while planning a wedding so will work my way through that lol

I have been speaking to my sister this week about sorting out making my invites when she is on half term so just ordered another mockup of what I want to see if she can print on it ok. But no other exciting news!

Superduff you sound like you are getting well underway with everything now - I love the idea of a colour palette for your wedding, can just picture it, Its going to be so autumnal - may have to gatecrash!!!

Wedding fairs in devon start soon ladies so may see some of you there if you go ::

Hope you all had a fab christmas and new year, bring on the weddings!! x

Happy new year! Just worked out I have 90 days to go. No wonder I'm slightly panicking!!!

Just been down to see mum and write invites so she will stick it all together and send next week. Trying to write order of service and notes about gift list. It's so hard knowing what to say. In the last 2 weeks I have ordered cravats & waistcoats and booked the car. Need to do so much stuff like chase chair covers, book engagement shoot with tog, get my ring aaahhhhh, don't know where to start! Need to find some sort of checklist to work out what I've missed.

Superduff, the dress sounds lovely. I had in mind a dusky pink colour to go with a vintage feel, but my bridesmaid fell in love with this 'raspberry' 50s style dress which really suits her, so we are going along a brighter pink theme, though nothing really matches!

Not sure I can face any more wedding shows. Will just make me wish I'd got more money!

How long has everyone else got left??

Hurray for under 90 days Bex! That's so exciting! I am wallowing away with 300 days to go! Mind you, I need the time to lose some weight actually (MIL gets married before us and has booked our flights to Cyprus for their wedding - so even more incentive now!). There was a really good list of things on here - if you Search on the Hepburn list, I'm sure it'll come up. I printed that and am sticking to it! You've got loads done, so don't panic!

CG, you planning on going to any wedding fairs? I think I am going to head to the one at the Devoncourt in Exmouth, but I haven't really noticed any others advertised lately. I need to look for a cake. I have decided that if all else fails, it will be an M&S cake, but I want to see what else is out there first. I think we'll try and do a few more fairs now that it is less than a year to go, and I keep mooting the invitations and stuff.

Nothing new to report here I'm afraid! A few friends got engaged at Christmas, so it's quite nice being able to talk about it more (I have actively tried not to talk just weddings with friends lately).

Gosh Polarbex how are you doing?! Can't believe you have so little time to go - I just got very excited for you Smiley smile Did you manage to get together a to do list? Can we help lol?!

Superduff I am probably heading to the Devoncourt one too (if I can remember when it is!) Not sure there are many more decent ones, although there is one at Exmouth Pavilions if I remember correctly. Its all blurring into one! I don't think I really need anything else but would like to look in case I see something relating to things I still have to do.

You will be really surprised how quickly those 300 days become 250 days become 200 days etc - I keep looking at mine and I am sure there are days being taken off that shouldn't be lol.

I have finally sorted out the last bits of my centrepieces, and just bought some sweet jars for the sweet table Dan has insisted on having! To quote him 'we are having a sweetie table and I will sort it out' - translation 'we are having a sweetie table but you can do all the work and I will just take the credit!' I also have a couple of sweet trees I am going to attempt to make (god help me!)

I am also trying to refrain from talking about weddings but its hard!

Woohoo!! My CBM/MOH (not sure what she is calling herself lol) has booked us to do the Westcountry Games in Bristol - its a farm version of Its a Knockout. Saw another hitcher had a thread about it and thought it would be a good idea. So games in the afternoon, meal and messy drinks in the evening in Bristol.

Going to have a grown up one for the mums/MIL etc but felt I needed something a bit raucous and didn't want it in Torquay!

Hi guys! How are you all coming along with your planning???

I have 17 days left and just decided I have to have a royal mail postbox!

Does anyone know of a local supplier? I found one but they want £20 delivery. I saw one at a wedding in Brixham but don't know where that was from!

    Any ideas or help appreciated!!!

Hi Snowbride and Vix hows it going? so where and when are you getting married then? tell all ladies lol

Polarbex, I got a postbox from a company called say it with - they don't have a website but I saw them at the exmouth wedding fair. Think its about £40 however - I wasn't going to have one until i saw it! I can get you the number if you want it? OMG can't believe you have such little time left - are you excited and most important are you ready?!

I am going quite well in wedding planning mode, just got my menu confirmed today so thats a biggie off the list. It means I can go ahead and print my invites - yay! Got to get FOB, FOG and BM measured for their suits and get my dress taken up, and then its just bits and bobs I think. Need to find a comprehensive to do list and see what I have missed!

    Hows everyone else doing?

    Hi ya Polarbex

The mobile number I have is **** or there is an email address - *********@****.**.**. This has helped me as I have just remembered I need to contact them myself!

I am not sure where they are based to be honest - my OH has been tidying and putting things in 'safe places' so now I can't find a sodding thing! i think its the Exeter/Exmouth way but I could be completely wrong. They are wooden but look like the proper RM boxes.

Brogstar i am mucho jealous of your Vegas/Hawaii honeymoon! that was our second choice Smiley smile My sister went to Hawaii after getting married in Vegas and the pics were a-maz-ing!

It's just a widdy wedding - only 24 of us. We catch a steam train from Kingswear to Churston. Get married at Churston Station booking hall. Ride the train back to Kingswear and then onto a boat to cruise up the River Dart for our reception.

I've done most things.......though my to-do-list at the bottom says I still have 18 things to do! Trying to make my (only 8) invites at the moment.

Everyone seems so organised! I constantly feel like I have so much left to do, but know I am pretty much on schedule!

We are getting married and having the reception at The Oak Barn near Okehampton on the 7th September - it is beautiful, I want to move in!

Our caterers are Treloars in Credition, they are lovely ladies and we have confirmed a 2 course menu and canapes with them, we are doing an evening cheese board buffet ourselves.

Our photographers are Exesight Photography based in Exeter, they work with my OH and have done loads of photoshoots for us and people we know, would recommend them!

Our chair covers are from Cover Cupboard in Teignmouth.

My dress is ordered from Dizzie Lizzie in Torquay, only 3 more months til it is in and I can start fittings!

We have just booked our honeymoon with Trailfinders, 8 nights in Mauritius and the 2 nights in Dubai, literally cannot wait!

We have ordered our wedding rings from Robert Price in Exeter, where OH got my engagement ring from. He is having a titanium band and I am having a platinum band made to match my engagement ring.

Got my bridesmaids dresses from Coast months ago and they are hung up ready to be fitted nearer the time.

Save the dates have been sent out.

Make up trial has been done with Beauty By Nina and have now booked her for the big day!

Guess I have done a fair bit!

Next on my list is to sort flowers - looking to go to a wholesaler as want to arrange most ourselves in jam jars etc, suits - going to get this done in the next few weeks. Also need to continue making mountains of bunting, about 200m done, another 300 to go!

Wow Vix you certainly sound very very organised! Had a bit of a panic when I saw your list lol, although I think I have done pretty much the same. Maybe I should write it down too and make myself feel a little better Smiley smile

My sister in law made all of her bunting for her wedding - she currently has it all sat in storage now. It looked amazing though - I hope you get to the end very soon!
