Gentle Ben was on a Friday I think (for some reason I'm thinkg Ch4 but that can't be right). It used to be The Flintstones that was on before the news was it not?

Yes! I always Angela Rippon and the Flintstones linked in my mind for that reason, I thought she must have been reading the news. Masterteam?

I always thought it was The Flintstones but that may be the wrong channel. Or it could have been on another channel at the same time as Neighbours.

I've just looked that up - called First class and had paperboy on it. I thought that was BBC2.

That sounds right but i though Blue Peter was on Tuesdays and Thursdays only? Or was it just Thursdays?

I'm not sure cos i think i used to watch Home & Away over on ITV instead. They planned it well you had Home & Away at either 5.00 or 5.05 for 30 odd minutes then Neighbours at 5.35........then me and my sister used to have to do our homework cos my mum and dad would arrive back from work at 6.00 so the telly would be switched off and homework had to be done.

    It was MasterTeam - http://www.ukgameshows.com/ukgs/Masterteam_(1)

Before then it was a different kids show every night such as Rolf's Cartoon Club, Gentle Ben etc

I remember it as being the Flintstones too.

My friend's mum used to video neighbours when it was on at about 9-10 am and we used to watch it after school.

I remember the Flintstones being on quite a lot. I loved that.

Also masterteam. I used to watch that, but never had a clue what it was about. Loved it though

As an aside does anyone remember having to feign illness so they could stay off school and watch it at lunchtime?

Many years ago I'm sure the 5.35 slot was for short children's programmes like The Magic Roundabout, Roobarb & Custard, Willo the Wisp etc. before the evening news came on at 5.40. ITN news started a little later at 5.45.

I used to watch it at lunchtime too! In fact I think it started then, and was only later put on at tea time.

The continuity man used to say "and now, for younger viewers...." but in my little girl mind (with a funny accent he was saying "And now, for young of yours" cos "yours" and "viewers" rhymed in my head.....LaPsycho will understand....

It varied I think. I definitely remember masterteam (and the penny blacks who always seemed to win) but also various us sitcoms of which my favourite was Charles in charge with Scott baio.
