Save the date help!

Of the opinion that it's never too early but it can easily be too late! Go for it

I was invited to a wedding abroad which is happening next week.
They sent out invites beginning of 2020. So 18 months notice. Obviously with what’s going on now with covid and travel it’s thrown it all up in the air and they sent out further invites/ reminders.

I’d say probably send end of this year and hopefully COVID has gone so they can focus on the wedding. Bare in mind that you can normally only book plane tickets a year in advance or when they release the schedule so they won’t release the flights for your wedding until jan/feb of 2022. Just if people want to look at flight prices to see if they can/want to come

Hi i would send them when ever you feel ready to if you send them now you could always send reminders closer to the time x

I'm having a similar dilemma.
I have no international guests, but not sure when is appropriate to send save the dates! We're not getting married til late Oct 2023 and seeing so many people who only leave it a year has put me off kilter slightly on when is acceptable to do certain things lol x

We wanted all of ours to go out at the same time so with the international guests, we just dropped them a message telling them that their save the date would follow, but we wanted to give them advance notice of the date so they could look at flights etc. as early as possible. We sent the save the dates at the beginning of this month for our wedding in May 2021.

No it wasn’t annoying at all. They set up a wedding website (they’re techy people anyway) with hotel details and flight details and the best places to book etc.


To be fair I forgot to rsvp to the first invite as it was so far in advance 🙊though it was more of a save the date. Then when they sent another out I replied to that one. They’ve probably sent out a few more because of covid and that’s messed up a lot of the plans but it wasn’t annoying it was helpful stuff they put in with the reminders etc.
From now planning a wedding myself I can totally understand wanting to know numbers etc. And I’ve even sent out reminders. As long as you don’t mind sending out a few I’d say send away. The annoying thing is that no one else shares the excitement of your wedding like you do. So you want everyone to reply within 5 minutes of getting the invite 😂 so when they take a bit longer or wait until the deadline it’s so frustrating. Xxx

We have international travellers and we sent our save the dates out 12 months in advance. That seemed to have worked.

We sent ours 10 months in advance (so June for an April wedding next year). I feel like as soon as you have your venue booked and guest list sorted, you should definitely send them out as soon as you can. Especially if your wedding is in the summer.

Yeh send them now..
Depending on distance, some people might have to save so givem them plenty of time

We sent our save the dates out over a year in advance and we have no overseas guests, just wanted to have it in everyone’s diaries. So we sent in February 2021 for a July 2022 wedding. Hardly anyone responded to be honest outside of my family (his side didn’t bother 🙄) but it was only saving dates I suppose so I didn’t get annoyed!
