Slimming world!!! Shocked by result

MrsBtobe1980, 10 January, 2011 at 21:58 Posted on Planning 0 26

Hi Ladies

This is probably a common post with all new brides to be, but after trying to loose weight on my own, i have joined slimming world tonight, was really interested with all the good feedback friends have given it, so thought i would give it a go........turns out i have more weight to loose than i thought, but thats ok, i will get there....so the mission is on to be 4 stone lighter....

Was just wondering if anyone has done this programme???

Thanks ladies.

    Hi Sarah,

I'm doing Slimming World and finding it pretty darn good! I feel like I'm eating constantly, but still losing weight! As diets go, it's probably my favourite (and I've done lots! ? )

    Good luck with it!

A colleague of mine has done slimming world before and raves about how much weight she lost and how good it was so im thinking of starting it too to shift some weight.

Oh I hate it when you get on the scales after a long time of not doing so, you know for sure you've put weight on, but HOW MUCH!!! ? ? That always happens to me ☹️

I certainly can vouch for SW I did this several years ago and lost 5 stone in weight. I'm well cheesed off now though as I have gained nearly all of this back.

I'm now on 'the plan' again and now have my Wii Fit Plus, Ab Circle Pro and dancing once a week to keep me company, so I hope I'll shift some weight before trying/ordering gowns ?

Good luck everyone, its not easy having to watch what you eat but its a pretty good plan in my eyes anyways and I've got no excuse as it worked for me before ?

I'm training for the Shine walk in May, so really need to sort myself out! Slimming Worlds great because you're never hungry, and you don't feel deprived (IMO) Saying that, I did go off the rails a bit last week, but that was emotional eating, and didn't make me feel any better! I always think you need to be motivated to lose weight, and it seems like we all have pretty good reasons!

Good luck with it ladies! Maybe we could start a SW recipe page on O/T?

I'm going to join sw when I get back from skiing Wednesday. Not looking forward to getting on the scales though, a week in America and all we've eaten is burgers!

    Hi,

I joined at end of July and have lost 1 stone 9 pounds so far - with taking the month of December off & putting on 2.5lb lol. I want another stone off & my dress is due in March so thats my goal!

It is good in that there are loads of free foods so you can always eat something - millerlight yogurts, mug shots (dried pasta, just add boiling water - the tomato & chicken are free) etc.

It is very very do-able - buts its still a diet if you know what I mean.

Sometimes If Im eating out ie pizza I'll not have any healthy extras for a few days to make up for the bread & cheese - so then its not as many syns if that makes sense?

I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week so I always think if Ive miscalculated / over ate on syns this helps balance them out, whilst toning up.

A man at my class has lost 9 stone & my aunt 6 stone - all within a year. So do not feel disheartened by the amount you want to lose - you will definately lose it if you stick to the plan! Good Luck!

Well done to all of you who have lost and good luck to all getting started!!

I know I should probably do something but cant seem to find the motivation. I'm a 14/16 and prob about a stone off what I was before I got pregnant last time. Is SW easy to do with a family? We all eat together, I cant be doing with making seperate meals for everyone! Might have to go online and find a group...

I've just joined! Got my first weigh in tomorrow, so will let you know if it works! I think its better than Weight Watchers to be honest as no counting everything and you can eat alot on it, you really can!

    Good luck!

Ps - I have 3 stone to lose to be my 'ideal' weight :-/

I did it lost a stone and a half got REALLY bored with it because I get bored really quickly, and then gave up - I was still at the gym and eating healthily but I ended up putting it all back on. It doesnt help that some days im up at 5 am and dont have time to eat properly and dont get time to eat properly...Not ideal Smiley sad

But as it goes it does work Smiley smile x

My sister is currently doing SW and has been since I got engaged (and asked her to be BM) in April 2010. She had 4 stone to lose and so far has lost nearly 3! ? She looks amazing - a right skinny mare ?

She finds it hard at lunch time - not having any bread etc so its salad every day pretty much so she does get bored. There are loads of different recepies - even for meals you would normally associate as fattening!

Hey, don't think you Brides are in this alone... Just think of the Wedding Photographer that now realises he's in his early 30's and should do something about the belly that's started to appear!

Congrats though to all those who've got up off their bums and are doing something about it!

(For the record, I've cut out the daily packet of crisps and choccy bar and going running every other day, I've lost 2lbs in a week!)

It's all in your head and will-power will win through... I promise!

What's the difference between Slimmer's World and WW? How do they work? Are they pricey?

Is it the 'weigh in shame' that motivates you or something else (ie why pay to get weighed when you can do it yourself?)

    Am genuinely curious! Ta.

With WW, most things have a propoints value based on the carbs, fat, fibre and protein. I'm allowed 20 PP a day which I have to a eat and 49 points that I generally waste on chocolate. Lots of things, including most fruit and veg, have PP.

I bought a WW calculator online to keep track of my PP and to work out PP values but refuse to go to meetings as I'll just be paying to get weighed.
