Sweetheart table

Kjgill84, 15 of July of 2021 at 13:18 Posted on Planning 0 8
We are having a small wedding with 40 to 50 guests max!

My fiance is estranged from his family has been for years so no one from his family is attending. (Long complicated story)

Was thinking about having family all at one table, friends on the others, with ourselves on the top table / sweetheart table.
Has anyone else done this?
What are your thoughts x

My sister went to a wedding where the bride and groom had a sweetheart table and she said everyone said what a lovely idea.

    Liking the idea of it.

Especially because we don't have a traditional guest list.

Absolutely! I am in the same predicament, being froma very small and complex family, seating arrangements would be an absolute pain! So rather than trying to justify our choices of who sits on our head table, my fiance and I decided to have a sweetheart table instead.

This is exactly my thought process!

Saves any awkward questions and it just makes sense.
My sister had a top table for her wedding but she had a very normal/ tradition set up, was lovely to see everyone on the top table, the wedding couple and parents, but it's just not practical for us.

I understand completely!! With us, my aide is tricky as I come from separated parents who absolutely hate each other and my dad's side just want to control everything which makes my mam see red. Anyways, a sweetheart table also gives you a little space just for you and your new hubby, to look out on everyone talking, eating and (hopefully) having a wonderful time. It gives you a little distance I think, to enjoy the moment. Also it eases out any further questions regarding who sits where etc.
