We're naming them after all the streets of houses we've spent time together as a couple. There are quite a few due to uni etc but we've still had to get a bit tenuous with some - especially when I realised I needed 17 of them!

We are struggling with this a little bit too! I bake (a lot) and OH loves to eat said baking so I'm championing cake names! We met at a circuit training class at the gym so the names of circuit stations has been mooted also but I'm not sure I fancy my guests sitting at 'squat thrusts' Ha ha!!!

    I was trying to tackle this exact issue last night with the OH. The ones that we came down to;

    • dates or years that mean something special
    • motorbikes eg) suzuki, kawasaki, triumph...
    • different names for shades of colour eg) pink; rose, magenta, fuschia...
    • names of songs we both like
    • brands of drum kit (OH is a drummer)
    • names of Ballets (I'm a ballet, tap & modern teacher)
    • places that we docked on cruise (the holiday where he proposed)
    • places we'd like to visit in the future

... hope they help... obviously it's all down to personal preference. I've heard of table names that give clues to what the first dance will be but not sure how it would work.

    We're doing 'firsts/special places' too!

Name of pub where we first met

Name of the street where we first lived together

    Our first holiday destination

Name of our estate where we live now, first proper house together

Name of the place we went our first date

And finally the top table is going to be named after the place where we are getting married!

OH had his first suggestion for the wedding so I have to go with it.

He wants to acknowledge all of our overseas guests so we are naming each table after the countries they have flown in from and he can incorporate it into his speech. We are having

    Australia

    South Africa

    czech republic

    germany

    Argentina

    Jamaica

    England

    barbados

I really want to name our tables but OH just doesn't get it and thinks we should stick with numbers.

So far I thought of years that mean something ... 2001 - year we met, 2007 - year our daughter was born, 1978 - year OH was born etc. I was then going to use a picture from that year. With this one oh still gets numbers but there is still sething a bit more interesting than 1, 2, 3 etc.

My other idea, and OH really didn't like it was to use the 'keep calm' posters. One table would be keep calm and drink vodka, another would be keep calm and drink champagne, keep calm and drink tea etc.

I also like the idea of places that mean something x

I am having plants as my table centres and the names of the tables will be the name of the plant on the table. I'm hoping to get all purple plants as that's our colour scheme but not sure there's enough I can get!

    Dartmoor Tors.

Top table is Yes Tor. Other tables will be whatever tors we have good photos of...

Considered and rejected Spinsters Rock, Gibbet Hill and Hangingstone Hill. Rough Tor might also be one for the rejects list (although it's a cool tor and one we walk up a lot!)

Hahahaha!!! This is brilliant, I would love to be seated at 'Squat Thrusts'!!

My OH is the sweetest guy in the world, and his suggestion for table names was to use animals. basically, I just finished my master's thesis in the fall and my topis was late medieval political animal imagery, so he thought I might like to make each table one of the animals I'd studied. Then we chose a castle to get married in, so we're making them all heraldic animals. Each table will have a shield with an animal as the main charge in a small frame. The head table will be the lion, with a lion passant guardant (like the lion of England), and there will be a small info card describing the symbolism of the animal (Lions denote kingship, and are connected to Christ through resurrection) and famous figure who used the animal personally (Richard the Lionheart, Henry the Lion).

It ties in perfectly with Hever Castle, and calls to my insanely nerdy art history side.

We are naming our tables with words for a perfect relationship....Love, Trust, Hope, Cherish, Laughter, Passion and Devotion.

We will also write the dictionary definition or short poem underneath. This was my OH idea!

Ours are named after different flowers, as there will be a different flower used for each centrepiece and the name of the table will correspond with its centrepiece.

We met at uni so ours will be named after the colleges at uni. Me and OH were not in the same college though so to save argument the top table will remain as top table.
