Tattoos

I have 4 and am due to get my 5th on Friday.

I have Chinese symbols on my hip and a tribal type pattern on my lower back which I don't have pics of - well you can see the back on a bit on the pic below..

I have this on my right wrist

and this on my ribs. Its the chorus from our first dance

I'm getting something like this on Friday

But on the left shoulder with the birds flying towards my neck. One bird for each lost baby. x

Those are lovely I had an angel on my arm after I lost a baby, but looking back it wasn't the best design to have - it had too many fine lines and now it's a little bit fuzzy with age. I still love the design and my tattooist did the best he could have, it just wasn't a great choice for a tattoo. I am still thinking of getting another angel cos I love religious symbols generally - maybe a more realistic one on my left outer lower leg, the other side of where the Virgin Mary is. But my tattooist doesn't specialise in realistic portraits so I'd need to find a new person, and I'm so comfortable with my guy after 10 years of getting work from him!

H isn't too sure because he thinks I will just end up with random little tattoos all over me in weird places, but I don't care, they all mean something to me.

I have a pair of eyes on the back of my neck, my eldest sons name on my left shoulder under a heart on a cross, a currently unfinished half sleeve, with hello Kitty, Diamonds, cherry blossoms, Jack Skellington, cupcakes, sweets, cherries, and a moon, with some bats dotted around, and on my right wrist/forearm, I have a memorial tattoo for the baby I lost, my Step Dad, and my grandparents.

I am getting more work done on my half sleeve tomorrow. As soon as that is finished, I am hopefully getting my back piece started, which will be the Avengers, starting with Iron Man.

Nowt wrong with that. That's how mine are, although I do plan to join them up with flowers etc. I took a lot of inspiration from Kat Von D, who has lots of individual designs but are all connected to effectively make sleeves. It's just money stopping me from doing them sooner!

Flora I can point you in the direction of the guy who did the words on my ribs, he's a friend. His studio is near me though, not sure how easy you can get there if you don't drive (or have I made that up?) He's doing Friday's one too. x

Very nice! Your OH is cute too Am I allowed to say that? I mean it in like a "well done" sort of a way, not a "I'm coming for him" way. Although well done also sounds patronising. I dunno, I'm tired.

I don't have any yet, l would like a bee in a botanical drawing type style. Not sure where l would have it.

My first husband was an abusive b***ard and while we were married, I wasn't allowed to wear make-up, jewellery, nice clothes etc... and definitely not allowed a tattoo.

The day I finally plucked up courage to show him the door, I went straight to the tattoo artist and got it done - I deliberately got the one I knew he'd have hated most and also the one that reminded me to keep going and remember that I was a beautiful woman and deserved to be treated better.

So my tattoo is tacky and awful, but I love it and it means a great deal to me ?

Fit isn't it? Couple of years time reckon I will look into it properly- would need to be a bit wider in parts- my current tat is just stars and a tribal thing at the bottom- daft 18yr old me :'( I would love my back to be covered entirely.

I love when a tattoo thread pops up! MY OH doesn't quite share my enthusiasm for tattoos so it's always nice to have some more to look at!

Instagrammers may have seen a bit of mine, but I wont post on here as they're a bit NSFW.

I have a giant peacock all down my left hand side, from my armpit to mid thighish.

On the other side I have a skin rip- which quite a few people have told me makes them feel sick ☹️ I think it's great, but it wouldn't work as part of the back piece I have in mind so it may end up covered at some point in the future.

I think that the tattoo you're getting on Friday is beautiful Rod.

Didn't know you had a skin rip- is it blood and innerds type one or like you are a robot underneath sort if thing? Some of the flesh ones do make my tummy flip!

I have some cherry blossoms on my arm in that sort of style but they don't go quite that far onto my chest - they stop right where my bra strap sits. I might extend them a teeny bit further at some point but I'm reluctant to actually go onto my chest. Same with my hands - I'd love to get something on my hand but I'm worried it might stop me getting a job one day! I'm lucky in that I work in the arts and it's very liberal, but you never know for the future. My brother is a teacher and can only buy expensive shirts for work now cos Primark-type ones are too thin and his tattoos show through them!

I have a tiny little butterfly on my bikini line which I got at 17. I won't flash as my lady garden isn't as pruned as it should be and said butterfly is lost in the weeds! I like it, but it's probably a bit tacky.

I want to get another one, but even at age 31, my mum would still kill me. She doesn't know about the one I have as it's always been covered up by a bikini. I can't think of anywhere else that she wouldn't find out about. I want to get some kind of a star as a nod to S's name.

Ha! My mum actually came with me once and got one herself - a tiny moon and stars on her stomach. She's never really been bothered that my brother and I have them, and tends to get quite defensive about tattooed people now, which is funny.

I've got 5. But I've flashed before and can't be ar$ed to describe them or dig out the photos again. Ideally, I would like to be covered in them, but they're expensive and I never have any money these days.

My BIL's friend is designing one for me which will be a hummingbird and blue moon rose to symbolise my Nana and her first hubby, my real gramps. I've wanted it for so long but I'm just questioning the placement now.

I also want a '7' or 'VII' to symbolise my relationship with MF and netball.

Er a bit of both I suppose! There are some little claws and a face in the darkness trying to tear it's way out. A 17 year old slightly goth me thought it was wonderful.

Thanks Holey! Almost 17 hours of ouchiness (across a few sittings) I'd love to add to it and have it spread across my whole back, but the artist has moved to cornwall and that's a fair old expensive treck. Maybe after the wedding...

I love some of these!!! I have a small paw print with my bestest girlie dog's name below just on my back, lower left hand side. I remember last time there was a tattoo thread there was someone that posted some pictures of their tattoos and they were the most arty and impressive I had ever seen!! So considering I can't for the life of me remember who it was or even what they looked like... Hopefully they will post again!!
