Tiaras - dated or classic?

*Matilda*, 23 February, 2013 at 18:07 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hey,

I'm just starting to think about what to do with my hair. I know I definitely want something in my hair but can't help thinking tiaras can look a bit dated but also really want to wear one! What do you think? Has anyone got any photos of pretty tiaras they wore/are wearing? What are the alternatives?

I haven't got any photos but have just been shopping today and ended up in Debenhams and seen some gorgeous tiaras for around £25. I have completely fell in love with them an wasn't sure I wanted one before seeing them today.

If you like them then go for it.

Personally, its too princessy so I won't be having one.

I will have a side tiara like the attached though:

I like side tiaras - they look a bit more contemporary as well.

I like one like this, it's more decorative on one side and flat. Do you think it looks dated?

I think some of the simple dainty ones have a certain timeless elegance about them! What about a hair vine? I've seen some gorgeous hair vines about, like this:

I've not decided what I want yet, but I'll probably go for a hair vine. Or flowers! :-)

That's really pretty Tash. I think I'm wearing my hair down though, or half down.

I bought a tiara, but ended up choosing the sparkly hairband as you can see in the pics, as it fitted with my plain, simple dress more. But I think either can look nice. What dress do you have?

I have a tiara but it is quite delicate and simple so its perfect for me as I am quite petite. I never really thought about not having one but I can be quite girly when it suits so a tiara wouldnt be unusual for me

I never keep up with whats in and whats out so it isnt an issue for me.

Thank you Smiley smile I fell in love with the lace!

I think something sparkly would be nice to go with the belt but I also love pearls... I think they will go with the romantic vintagey look of the dress.

I looooove Halo and Co tiaras but they are far too pricey!

    Love this one:

Tbh just my personal feeling is that tiaras are a bit dated, but the small side tiara is cute (essentially it looks like a bejewelled hairband Smiley laugh)

Go with what you fancy, don't worry! :-)

If you take a look at my website below, our Harper comb and Paloma pins are very popular at the moment and look stunning. I have just been a bridesmaid and wore the paloma pins myself in a messy updo.

Side tiaras have been very popular for the last 3 years however a large number of brides still go for a traditional tiara and they are beautiful I love this one
