Tiaras - do they hurt your head?

SingleNoMore, 28 June, 2012 at 11:09 Posted on Planning 0 14

I want something sparkly in my hair but I've never been able to wear headbands etc as they're always so uncomfortable and make my head sore and I end up with a headache. I've obviously got a weird shaped head or something. But I was wondering if it was going to be the same with a tiara? Because they look even more uncomfortable as they're metal!

I was therefore looking at comb tiaras but there aren't as many (it will be going on my crown not on the side) to choose from. OMs what's your experience of this? I don't want to feel like I have to take it off halfway through the reception.

I have a tiara and I don't know if they're all made like this but it's a wiry kind of metal which means it's slightly more malleable and comfortable than a normal headband. It definitely doesn't hurt my head at all.

I'm the same - headbands even small alice bands give me a headache so I'm opting for a nice diamonte comb or two.

I wore a tiara for my cousins wedding as a bridesmaids and it was all I could do to keep it on for the photos!!

My tiara was made on a comb and I couldnt feel it at all. It slid neatly against my veil and I forgot all about it.

See my wedding report for flashes. x

Ahh I hadn't thought of this! I too often get headaches if I wear alice bands for too long, I guess we both have wierd shaped heads Smiley laugh Haven't got to the stage of looking for hair accessories yet, but think I may have to go down the comb route!

If you get one that is metal and is bendable you can have it to match the shape of your head. Everyone wears them differently so they need to be variable in size and shape too. So they should be able to make one that fits.

    Hi SingleNoMore,

I have a range of hair accessories on my site. Any of my designs can be recreated on to a comb.

I'm also experimenting with hair vines and hair chains!!! i'm working on 3 hair accessory projects at the moment!!! I'll keep adding pictures of these to keep you posted!!!

Here is the link to the hair accessory section on my site:

I would say that tiaras are not uncomfotable as they don't sit down the sides of the head like a headband. I don't particularly like tiaras on combs as they need a lot of hair to sit properly and some can stick out too far, plus they need more securing, just my personal opinion but that is why I don't usually have many on my site.

    Hi,

I stock some of the tiara crowns that will just simply sit in your hair and not hurt at all. Most of the band also shouldn't hurt but as someone else said maybe try a side tiara.

I got married last year and wanted something to finish the look of my veil. I went for a band and it didnt hurt at all. I tried a comb but it just didnt have the same effect as a tiara.

I can adapt most of my designs so whatever band you think would be best for you. Just take a look.

    Hi,

I actually stock some of the tiara crowns. These sit in your hair and are just held in place with hair pins. so it wont give you a headache.

Take a look but if there is something you wanted then mostdesigns can be put on anyband. They good thing about these is if you get headaches from alice bands then these wont create the same problems.
