Venue

Inga, 6 of January of 2023 at 21:51 Posted on Planning 0 9
Hi fellow future brides !. I’m due to hopefully be married sept 2024( all dependant on venue) I live in north of Scotland ( Aberdeen). Scotland has the most beautiful country houses and scenic views in the outskirts (which was my original plan however now I saw a beautiful city centre location but my worry is pics after and before the ceremony as it’s not a place with accommodation like traditional wedding places but it’s accessible for everyone especially those who don’t drive) . Isit bad that I’m willing to give up my ideal venues of that countryside for more accessibility ? Will it cause more stress after ceremony to drive away for pics meaning not everyone can be in them etc so many questions I’m confused 😞😭

The main thing for us was having everyone we wanted at the wedding so we went for accessibility. The stress of organising people at a rural location and thinking of hotels etc was too much for us! However saying that we hit the jackpot with our venue as it has some lovely scenic places for what we would like with photos.

If you are driving to a nice location before and after the ceremony for photos have you considered the length of time and if this is possible in one day along with having the ceremony and reception?
Could a suitable alternative be that you and your partner along with any close family or friends get dressed up in the outfits you were wearing on the day and do a photo shoot in this rural location after the wedding? Maybe a day that is good for weather? We all know how turbulent the weather can be! Haha!
Whatever you choose to do I wish you the best for your wedding x

Since writing this post I have found another ruralish scenic more 15 mins out of the centre by taxi. I will give that a try includes accommodation too if need be . I’m happy I didn’t give up and just take the first city centre location I found I was just saving everything I liked. It’s so important I get things done in one day as we have kids so time is limited and pay for everything in one as the location provided everything there .
    X

Absolutely breath taking , those are the ideal locations I wanted however I’m battling with convenance for all guests . As some would even come from England and don’t drive, even family and friends here in Aberdeen don’t all do as well . 😒

Such a shame could you not provide minibuses for guests that can't drive I know it's more expense on you both x hope you both find somewhere that you love x♥️

I think the best option if this isent possible would be best to look at somewhere that's close to trains and also has accomodation for guests hope you find somewhere x ♥️

Hi! I’m also a fellow Aberdeen bride!

I had a look at a central venue, it was stunning! Newly done up (used to be a casino) but I felt the same regarding photos! I also worried that people would leave early and got the town, or that if it was a nice day we couldn’t gather outside for drinks and enjoy the weather! So we opted for Maryculter House Hotel. It’s not too far out the way of the town (affordable in a taxi for guests) and also provides accommodation. However, I do think, I’f you find a place you love, go for it! People won’t mind you going away for your photos, they will stay back and enjoy some food and drinks! It would just mean you had to factor in the extra cost to get you and whoever you want in the photos as well as your photographer to the location for photos! If you haven’t already, there is a great page called Grampian weddings on Facebook you should check out. Some great advice and recommendations for all things weddings in and around Aberdeen!
Happy planning! I hope you find your perfect location soon x

Yeah think that central location is the same as the one I saw too (Aberdeen being small 😂). I saw that I saved it and Ardoe too similar to Mary cutler distance if not the same. I think I have decided to be a little out and saw another in stonehaven also but not too out as I thought originally cause considered Glen tanar and like Inverness which are not very reachable if you don’t drive . Even stone haven is a push .

Thanks so much for the tips bringing me closer to finally picking somewhere . I’ll check out the page too x
