I am looking for a venue for 200 guest for next year august and everything is so expensive.. i’ve given up and at this point think doing my wedding in my own home is better and cheaper at this rate

everything is £7,000 plus or they don’t offer catering for asian weddings
Long shot anyone know of any cheap venues in london

This one reason we want to do it on our own we both have good jobs but didnt see the point in spending so much on just one day when there is other stuff to spend it on x💗

That’s exactly my same situation. To blow all that money for one day makes no sense i’d rather pay for a house deposit

Would you not do a registry office with just close family and friends then hire a hall or somethin like this and do it up yourself that way you could get a caterer in with food you like x💗 and everyone else can come x

I thought that too, but hall hire itself is £2,000 + and asian food is costing £9,000 which is a joke

If you go on hitched men go onto venue search it will ask what area you will pick london and then it gives you the venues but you cant shorten them down by putting the food you wantx 💗

Could you reduce your guest list? From what you've said that seems to be the biggest influence on your costs.

I'm just here to day I feel your pain, we're planning a small wedding and it's been mad trying to find a venue. It seems where you can possibly save in one area it may cost you more elsewhere. We opted for a dry hire venue as we wanted to provide everyone with a free bar and have our chosen caterers, on the down side, becuase it's a heritage building we can't get access the day before and after and the music must end at 10.30pm. The latter didn't appeal to me but when I say the venue me and my mother cried and we loved the different activities we could plan in all the rooms.
Basically, weddings are bloody expensive and the price you've quoted sounds about right for the amount of people, the only way to spend less is to cut back on something. My mum is making my dress, I'm making the cake, the venue already has character and the price includes the registrar. I don't think its ever going to be perfect, much like anything in life, so I've had to be open minded when planning everything.
Best of luck and congratulations xx

I think you’ll struggle to find cheaper. I’m getting married in South West London and we looked at so much because were trying to stick to a lower budget. We’re spending more than originally planned but still a lot lot less than most of the venues viewed and think our venue/caterer is reasonable. I think best bet for lower cost is sports clubs (rowing, cricket, golf clubs etc) if you can find a local no frills one the hire can be cheap and my guess is buffet dining is cheapest. When I was looking I definitely came across some cheap hire sports clubs, can’t remember what now but I think maybe teddington cricket or rowing club had a cheap hall and Kingston rowing club too. I also remember seeing a registry office that had a space with a marquee you could hire for dry hire and was quite reasonable - maybe Morden registry office, but don’t remember exactly. Good luck on the hunt, it was a right slog but I came across some cheaper options eventually, I just find you’re betting Googling event spaces rather than wedding venues as those local cheap places don’t really advertise as wedding venues.

Personally I would really think about if people need to come to the full day. Or could you make it more of an intimate offer with more evening guests. Its much cheaper that way
