Wedding Car

DDsgettingmarried!, 25 July, 2021 at 07:37 Posted on Planning 0 10

What type of car are brides arriving at their venues in?

I was happy to just take a taxi, but almost everyone (including H2B), I’ve spoken to, thinks even though it’s only a 10 min drive from the hotel I’m staying at and the venue, I should splash out on something a bit nicer than a taxi.

I thought maybe, a white black taxi would be nice, then it would easily fit my mum and MOH (I only have one bridesmaid).

What have you ladies organised?

We just used my OHs car (he did clean it first!)

If having an interesting or unusual car is important to you then go for it. But there's nothing wrong with using a taxi or even getting a friend to drive you as long as you can trust him/her to have a clean vehicle and arrive on time!

I arrived in my dads car, he drove and me and my 2 bridesmaids passengers. When I looked at the costs I just couldn’t justify over £500 for 15 minutes!

Depending on the distance and logistics they may do two trips to the venue - once with Mum and bridesmaids and then with bride and Dad.

If your wedding is a one venue one then they may wait for you so you can have some pictures with your groom/bride afterwards and also form part of the backdrop to your wedding drinks reception. If its a vintage car then some guests usually like to have a look, maybe chat to the owner/ driver and have their own pictures with the car.

Or the page boy could just fall asleep in it instead !.

Wasn’t especially fussed, I think the OH thinks I shouldn’t be turning up in just a taxi.

However, really the cost seems a little crazy when we probably only need them for the journey to the venue. Of course if it was a really nice car, you’d definitely feel you should take some pictures with it, so that might extend to 1hr/1h 30, taking account photos being done once you’re married.

Wedding party is just my mum and MOH and my OH will be dealing with our two boys.

Have to say, Rockstar, the picture with the little boy is priceless :-)

I've also got a short journey to the venue so I've just booked a taxi, but it's an executive one so will look a bit nicer than an ordinary mini cab. I booked through Addison Lee and we're getting a Mercedes E-class. I did look into booking one of the white London cabs, but it didn't seem worth paying hundreds just to go 20 minutes up the road.

You’re so right, it’s looking about £275 for just an hour with a white black cab.

Will take a look at Addison Lee, didn’t think of them.

My partner is staying at the venue the night before so its only for me needing a lift, seen so many prices but dont want to be paying £300+ for a 10 mile lift! Its all at the Ramside for the whole day so ive been offered plenty of lifts which should do me! Its £300+ that could go towards the honeymoon tbh

Id gladly get the bus but she wont let me haha

I've booked an executive car for myself and my parents and a minibus for my bridesmaids as there are loads of them! £120 in total for about 20 min drive
