Wedding dress

Michelle, 5 June, 2022 at 19:19 Posted on Planning 0 7
Bought my very expensive wedding dress over 3 weeks due to the shop being in financial crisis and a risk of losing my deposit or both that and my dress feeling a bit deflated as the dress may need altering if I don't lose a little weight I was just handed it after payment all the pleasantries like prosecco ect non existent feel like the whole experience of buying my dress has been depressing although I love my dress I can't bring myself to unzip the cover n look at it feel really sad as its my dream dress why do people treat you this way they have ruined what should have been the start of my happy journey .. if I sold it to buy another I'd never get back what I've paid towards another .. and my hubby to be would be upset as he paid for it so quickly so I could rescue it from that shop which has now ceased trading which has broke my heart

I'm sorry you didn't get the shop experience you were hoping for, but you say it is your dream dress... so if I were you I'd bite the bullet and try it on again! Remind yourself why you love it! You could even have your bridesmaids over, get in some prosecco and try it on with them there to make it a fun experience Smiley heart

Looking at your profile, you've still got a year between now and your wedding - you may lose a little weight in this time and fit in the dress as is, you may not at that's totally fine! I'd book in a seamstress appointment for a couple of months before your wedding to take away any fear of not fitting in it as seamstresses do book up far in advance so you don't want to be stressing out nearer the time about getting an appointment Smiley smile

I'm so sorry - it's horrible when you don't get treated well, especially over something as special as a wedding dress. I agree with Chloe - invite your bridesmaids around for a 'dress reveal' - have some drinks and nibbles and a girly evening together and give yourself the moment you feel you've missed out on.

That is a a shame, and it would worry me personally! I had a final fitting when picking up to ensure it was all as I wanted. I think you need to look at it ASAP to be sure it is right, as you mention they have now ceased trading so you have no come back, and that may be why they didn't offer a better service, as I an sure it was sad for them to be going out of business, so try not to take it personally. as others suggest, have a girly evening and really take a good look at it and be sure you are happy. You do have time to lose weight so don't panic to much if it doesn't do up, by trying it now you will have an idea of how much you need to lose as well. Try and put the experience behind you, you love the dress and that is what you should focus on and marrying your man

I’m so sorry you had such a terrible experience. Dealing with the shop’s financial issues, worrying about deposits and your dream dress, plus stressing over alterations sounds awful. Your fiancé stepping up to pay fast to get it for you is so sweet. Don’t be scared to unzip it—alterations can fix the fit if needed.
