Our venue allows us to go onto 1 o clock but doesnt recommend it , we are getting married at 2pm on the day.

i dont want people to feel that its going on forever but i dont want evening guests to feel they havnt had long enough. evening guests are being invited from 7.30. i was thinking last orders at 12 so people leave at half twelve, oh thinks 11.30 sop people leave at 12.

opinions please x

Well, we're getting married at 12.30, our evening guests arrive at 6.30 and all guests have to leave at midnight - that's the venue rules....

I think 12 hours of hard partying is long enough ;-)

I think 12 will be fine. Just make sure the DJ is told 12 too. Last drinks and last song. Then everyone will be finished and DJ can pack up by half 12.

Our wedding is 2.30pm, our reception starts at 7.00 for evening and ends at 12. We had the option of 2am but havnt gone for it, mostly as the DJ prices sky rocket after 12!

Our evening guests arrive at 7.30 the DJ will finish at 12 and thenwe have the bar till when ever we want. I am purposly putting some friends of mine who i know will be up for a late one in teh room above the bar so we ar enot disturbing any of the older guests coming but i am guessing that there will be minimal sleep going on. We have exclusive use at the hotel and the bar will be maned till 2 after which we will be on what ever we have left/ have bought with us.

Our venue is open until 1am, but I was thinking about making it 12.30am finish, to give every one a chance to say goodbye for the last half hour. Smiley smile

We get married at 12pm, evening guests arrive at 7pm, finishes at 12am. We could have extended until 1am but it would have cost us a minimum of £300 extra as the venue and DJ would have charged for the additional hour. If people want to continue after 12am they can have a drink in the bar as long as they're staying at the venue.

We're getting married at 4.00pm (no evening guests) and carriage is at 12.00pm.

We could've extneded to 1.00am but we're planning to leave before the end of the night so didn't see the point. If people want to carry on they can either drink back at their hotel or head into town.

We got married at 2pm and the evening finished at 12. We had the option of extending till 1am but as the coach taking guests home was at 12 we decided to finish it there. A lot of our friends stayed at the hotel so in the end our evening finished at 4:30am!

We're getting married at 1.30pm, evening guests arrive at 7, dance starts at 7.30pm and last dance at 12am. We've booked buses for 12.30 to give people time to say goodbye and get sorted. We had the option of extending too, but to be honest I don't want to be completely shattered and just fall asleep straight away! I think 7-12ish is long enough.

We're getting married at 2pm, evening guests arrive at 7.30pm. I think the bar closes at 11.45pm and the DJ stops at midnight.

When I DJed in England I very rarely got asked to carry on past 12. I think because timings overall, ceremony, meal etc are earlier, its not unusual to finish as early as 11.00.

Out here in NI, I think I'd get lynched if I suggested finishing before 1. There's only one venue that I perform at that doesn't go on till 1 (and I've heard that they are going to be changing their policy). Everything tends to be later out here. We very rarely have the buffet before 10.

On the odd occasion I've made it over the border to South of Ireland, its 2 oclock or later.

If you think people are going to leave before the end it would be far better to finish earlier. Its better to finish on a high with plenty of people still in the room than for it to fizzle out and only a handful there for your final song of the evening.

Not late enough!! I tried to negociate a 1 or 2 am finish but it will have to be 12 for the end of the music. My French guests will be expecting 4 or 5 in the morning, they're in for a shock!!!

Ummm would really like ours to finish around midnight really, havent really said a time. We could then just have a coffee with the guests/familly who are staying in the hotel before winding down and finally get to bed about 1am ish?

    In an ideal world............................. ?

Our wedding went on until 4am, but that was because we ate over 4 hours which was fab because you never felt completely full.

I always find that just as I'm getting into the dancing and music the night finishes. I'd like a 1am finish but I know that most venues finish at midnight.

Our reception opens at 6pm for day guests, and evening guests are coming at 7pm. The room is open until midnight, however at the toast masters discretion (on the day) they do have an after hours service available in the bar at the hotel for guests staying over.

Our wedding was at 1pm, and we had a late licence until 1am. I was up at 5.30am, and barely slept anyway and we decided to leave just before 11.30pm as i was dead on my feet! Others stayed till about midnight...there were a few die hards who had only come to the evening who stayed until 1am.

I would recommend going on until 1am. As a DJ, there's nothing more frustrating than having to stop the music with a full dancefloor. I find that people (especially those with children) treat a wedding as a big event and once they have a sitter, want to make the most of it! If your DJ is doing his job right, there shouldn't be many who want to go to bed.

There are DJs out there who offer all-inclusive packages and don't charge the earth for a great party. Try and find one with a 'play 'til whenever' policy then you won't have to worry if the reception runs on.

    Good luck!

Our wedding is at 12pm, with the evening starting at 7pm. We could have paid extra to keep the venue open for as long as we wanted but we've decided to end it at midnight as we think everyone will be tired after a long day (only a few party animals coming)

Our evening do starts at 7.30, and finishes at 1pm. This was offered by the venue for a fixed price, so we're just going along with it.
