What were these chocolates??

Eleda, 2 December, 2008 at 22:40 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

My grandma every year used to get a box of chocs at Christmas. They came in a white square box and said on the top something like "a selection of chocolates and candies" and they had chocs in there, but also stuff like two little chocolate covered nuts, some coloured nougat and some sort of sugared lemon slice. What were they?

Were they in a box like a little chest of drawers? And they were really quite rank, IIRC ? I am sure they were made by Cadburys but cannot remember the name. Which is helpful to you even if they are the ones you were talking about!

    Secrets?

i know my dad has a box from a box of chocolates from ages ago - he uses the drawers to store paper clips, staples and elastic bands. from recollection the box is no bigger (and probably not as tall) than a 1L volvic bottle (estimated from what i have on my desk at the moment). I'm fairly certain the name on the box is "secrets".

is that any help? i can't remember what chocolates were in them - i wasn't allowed them as i was "too young" apparantly. so this is going back about 20 years.

If it is the chest of draws you mean, I think they were called Inspirations.

I have a recollection from my youth ( and belive me that wasn,t yesterday) that my mum used to get a box like this and they were called "WEEKEND" not really chos but a mix of assorted sweets.

Aww, when I went to my qually (technical term for the dance you went to when you were leaving primary school), my date bought me a box of those chocolates. Everyone was dead impressed because they were more expensive than Milk Tray and they thought he must really like me ?

You were supposed to buy each other gifts and I think I bought him some Lynx because that's what my friend was getting her 'boyfriend'. ?

Woo, heyooge well done to Flaming Nora ?

I think "Weekend" were made by Terrys. THey had candied fruits in them and other such assorted mingingness IIRC.

Does anyone else remember Cadbury's "Biarritz" boxes of Chocs? They were in a blue triangular box and were a complete pain in the arse to wrap if you bought them as a present for someone ?

I looooved biarritz. i thought they were the most glamorous chocolates around because of the unusual box.

my sister got a box for her birthday once and she let me have one. one sodding biarritz. she ate the rest and i wasn't allowed any more. harrumph.
