We love it when the buffet option is bacon or sausage (or both!) baps/sandwiches.

Although specify tomato and brown sauce in posh bowls. Gives a nice touch!

    Or....a hog roast! Mmmmmmm.

Plus it seems like evening guests chat more and feel really relaxed - then want to PARTY!!!!

    Have a great day!

    James.

Ladies I'm so relieved pork baps, sausage and bacon sarnies are popular. I must admit I'm not actually saving any money opting for this - in this instance do you still think its as good a choice ???? lol Well we're catering for each guest the pork baps these will have individual pork loins on. We chose these because when we tried these at our venue they were oooo gorgeous and tender with stuffing and oh yes crackling!!!! They don't actually come in as too much cheaper than a regular buffet. Especially since we 're then catering again another half again for bacon and sausage baps. Saying that I think I'm pretty much settled on this idea due to the fact that, I'm just referring back on the wedding I went to with part pork baps & part normally buffet. The latter well reminded me of the contents of my own fridge, yeh I've convinced myself. Baps it is !!!!

We are having these as well, and we are also having poutine (fries ..errr chips, with gravy and cheese). But cheese on toast sounds yummy.

I think for most people, something smaller and easily held just makes for a great snack that time of night. Plus it soaks up the alcohol and doesnt force people to be sitting down with a plate.

mandubc14 where have you been all my life ????!!! I love cheese on anything and have never ever had the gravy option!!!!! Where have I been I've got to try that ASAP!!! I reckon it's on my wedding menu already now though, so thanks for the posh chips tips!!! Well I think it is lol Seriously though there are quite a few people who I mentioned the baps buffet to & they honestly seemed impressed. Like it was something refind lol Well I then decided on a "normal buffet" but after trying the "bap" style buffet i was won over. Loving the idea of hot dogs and burger to !!!! I keep forgetting im having fries & wedges to yeh all sounds quite nice!!! So why was i worried????? Poutine tommorow me thinks!!!!

We originally booked the ceremony for 2pm, then talking to family and the venue we moved it to 1pm due to this late wedding breakfast issue. it also means that the evening guest get a decent time.

bacon sarnies sound epic! nom!!!! i wish they were on the menu for our evening thing Smiley sad

I think, its because bacon sandwiches just taste so great ! (how many vegetarians will confess to a lapse for these awesome treats?)

haha its a Canadian dish. Traditionally it needs to be made with cheese curds but other cheeses can work. Other people also prefer chicken gravy but I prefer beef. We wanted to add some Canadian things to the wedding and we figured this will go over well...hahah and if it doesnt, there will be the sandwiches and regular chips

People are turning their backs on the stuffy sit down meals for weddings. They can be a huge waste of money and can send budgets spiralling out of control - and the truth is that no-one really wants it. More newlyweds are opting for an informal choice, something a little different but effective, appealing and popular with guests. Buffets and hog roasts are suffering a similar fate because people are looking for an alternative option, something that won't also offend those vegetarians!!!?

Our venue is doing us bacon barms and mini fish and chips as 'late night snacks' after 11pm... cheeky buggers, as that means we still have to do a buffet earlier for the evening guests. Or do we? Can we ask them to serve these earlier in the evening do you think?

Oh I'm in a muddle now...

For us a buffet is £15 a head. bacon baquettes were £5 head and given the fact they're 'oh my god delicious' its an easier and profitable decision. as for your dilemma, depends on how long your day is. if it from morning to midnight then it might be a thing to do but wedings are filling. most day guests wont touch the buffet in the evening they're too stuffed.

"Littlecathy" I 100% think you could ask for these earlier on in the night. I was originally having my "baps!!!" For a midnight snack. However I went to a wedding at the same venue & firstly the baps won us over to the point we altered our evening buffet from the finger buffet to baps/chips/wedges buffet. Also not to mention very importantly but plenty of their guests had already retired off to bed by midnight disappointing but a fact. So maybe a midnight snack a little inconvenient & really all you will be adjusting is the time it's served.

As for me I am still having a formal sit down meal, I just found the "norm" of a finger buffet a little outdated. I know it's often hard, even silly to try and be "different" But "finger buffet" mirrors the contents of my own fridge!!! But hey finger buffet is still very much a "classic" choice, no criticism intended, like I say just like my fridge! For me it's more personal choice & Zilch to do with money saving!!!!!People often assume its to do with saving!!!!! One of the reasons I was reluctant to opt for the bap style evening, I don't want guests assuming I'm tight or strapped for cash!!!! Especially since my "pork slabs" I've opted to call them now are only £1 per head less than the finger buffet. I'm also adding 1/2 bacon and 1/2 sausage baps to the menu o to speak. So actually more expensive. I also remember everyone's mmmm responses when I'm mentioned just sausage&bacon baps, so I reverted back to this type of evening menu & added the pork slabs and stuffing.
