When is too early to start planning?

Sapphire, 9 August, 2022 at 18:02 Posted on Planning 1 9

Hi, Im getting married October 2023. I am only 21 but have been with my fiance since we were 15. We are viewing a venue next month and will probably book soon after as we are looking at half term which ive heard can book quickly, although in the week as i am training to be a primary school teacher. But i was wondering if there was a too early for things such as photographer and dress and also when the best time is to start booking and buying.

Congratulations! You have a good amount of time to plan with your dates, the main the Ng is to book registrar in before signing venue contract, just in case they are not available, otherwise you have am amazing venue but can't actually get married legally.

Once that is done I suggest booking the following a rvices if you need/want th - florist, cake, photographer, DJ/photo booth, caterers, cars and accomodation as soon as you can so you secure your date. Being October you will hopefully find more availability but is best to secure your date so you will need cash to pay deposits as a lot won't take credit card.
I would then say in January start dress and suit shopping as dresses can take mo that to come in. Then all the little bits like jewellery, favours invites etc as you get closer.
If you have not done so already, make a spreadsheet of all the things you need with your budget amount for each and then you can add payments as you go to not let it get out of control. I found it really helpful but also get quotes before as you will find some things are more than you may have budgeted so will need to tweak it.
It can be stressful, my biggest adcivebwoyld be do not share your plans with lots of people as opinions them star flying. Keep calm and enjoy your planning xx

No problems, if you have any questions feel free to message me. The registrar is the bit eople often forget, but is the most important! If you find your vene ask them to hold the date for 2 weeks whilst you sort the registrar, most of the time they are hppy to do that and once you have that booked them you can sign venue contraxt

    Congratulations!

We are due to be married December 2023. So gar we've got the venues booked, registrar, accommodation provisionally booked, photographer, cake, flowers and transport. Leaving things like dresses and suits nearer to the time. Looking to shop for my dress about a year before maybe just over.

I’m so sorry just realised I did a typo. It’s 2025 not 3. So 3 years away. Just wasn’t sure if next summer is good to start booking stuff or end of the year or start of 24. Sorry again x

I think if you’re looking at 25 not 23 it’s too early to book the registrar as well. I was told we could only book them 2 years in advance. It might be that you can’t do anything yet OP but good to get an idea of what you want and budget so you can start saving xx
