My first car scrape was when I drove into a (massive, obvious) bollard that protected the window of the McDonald's drive-through. The guy serving was a huuuuuge crush of mine and I could have died with embarrassment after driving into his window bollard. I drove off with indicator flapping in the wind until I superglued it back on.

This is what boyo did to my second car :'( It happend about 100 yards from our house, he skidded on ice into that truck which was parked.

My Little Pug was a write off- I was VERY understanding about it!

I really can't motivate myself to do anything constructive today!!

I don't have any photos of it, because it went to car heaven abotu 10 years ago (oops), but it was a 94 Ford Mustang convertible, like:

My parents got it in 94, and when I got my drivers licence in 2000 it was the 'old' car, so it effectively became mine so I could get to and from school.

aaand, then in 2002 I totalled it as the back tires spun on black ice when I was changing from 2nd to 3rd, my rear end clipped the front end of a car in the lane next to me, and I spun out, across the road and hopped the curb, effectively breaking off one wheel and bending the others basically sideways. It was scary, and despire there being barely a scratch on the body of the car, it was totalled because of damage t othe axels, wheels, and frame. Smiley sad Luckily I was almost finished high school and about to leave the country to escape the 'wrath of dad'.

It certainly was Ducky. My poor Frieda Punto, she used to be so beautiful. I need to send her off for some reconstructive surgery but I need her every day for work at the moment. If there's another Hitched meet in Colchester I'm getting the train!!

Mine was a blue P reg Metro, similar to this:

It cost me £500 and I absolutely loved it! I only got rid of it because there was more rust than car!

My first and only crash was in my Ford KA. Going round a bend on a small road, I found myself heading straight towards a giant lorry taking up both lanes. I had to drive up the grassy bank to avoid a head on crash, but my car slid back down and into the side of the lorry. It looked like my little car had melted ☹️. Twas very scary indeed.

Oh god that sounds horrendous! I completely get your terrible passengerness, I had a pretty bad accident about 4 years ago, rolled my poor little corsa and since them I'm always ducking or flinching. Apart from when R is driving, he's a coach driver so is very safe and I feel very comfortable.

I am an atrocious driver. My poor little corsa had numerous bumps and scratches before I put her on her head.

This was my first car, which I got a year after I passed my test...

You can see some of the first accident on the bonnet... it needed a new radiator and new bumper after a moronic bike rider crashed his brand new Yamaha R1 into it while I was still parked in Tescos. He won the insurance case as I was "in his way". Twunt.

It got towed back from Worthing to Watford three times as things started going wrong with it after the accident.

My first car was a white Micra my mum bought for me, deeply uncool but soooo cheap for petrol. I actually crashed it more or less the first time I drove it. I must have been on a provisional because a fully licensed friend and I drove it from my home to uni via A and B road and it took forever! We were nearly at our house and she wanted to go to the supermarket so I tried to get it into a parking space in a multistorey, and ended up parking the bumper on the metal barrier and it got stuck there for ages.

My other mate nickname her Little Mo, after the character on eastenders who kept getting battered, because Mo the Micra looked so rough.

My first car was a Datsun 100a exactley the same as this one.

    , , ,I loved it. I wish I had it now, , , , SOOOOO RETRO.

I never had a scrape 'in this one' but I did have to carry a large bottle of water around with me, as it frequently over heated.

My first was a little L reg micra!

I learned to drive & took my test in it. It was my mums originally but was passed on to me when I turned 17.

I had it for a year before swapping for something with power steering ?

I've been driving for 7 years now and *touch wood* haven't had a scrape as yet.

I've had 2 people go into the back of our current car, but never any damage.

The first car I owned was a red Ka, but I only got that when I was 22; before that I just borrowed my Mum's car when I needed it. The first one of hers that I drove was a Peugeot 309, which was awful. She then upgraded to a Rover 214 which was much more powerful and more fun!

My first scrape was on the morning of my Grandma's funeral (still in Mum's car at this point). I can't remember why, but my sister had to go to school in the morning, so I went to fetch her back for the funeral around lunchtime. On the way home, down a narrow village lane, faced a 4x4 coming the other way, too far over. I swerved a bit to get out of the way, bounced the back wheel off the kerb and burst the tyre. I did panic that we wouldn't get back and would miss the funeral, but I managed to change the tyre all by myself and raced back in time!

    Mrs Imp that sounds awful!

My first car - T reg Corsa. As you can see, it was supposed to be red but went a fetching pink colour.

No real scrapes in it though - although a million near misses!

That manual choke was a godsend on cold days. On wet days the car refused to even turn over.

It's spam - hence the ad for airport parking in the sig. These spambots are clever though, they know how to post on-topic!

Yeah, I tried not to mention the ad, didn't want them to know people were seeing their advertising if it was a real person. Not real? Can we delete/report?

Nope, no option on here to report spam as far as I know, only abuse. It probably doesn't really matter in the case of this thread as we've bumped it by replying anyway, but it would be good to be able to report spam accounts generally. Hopefully a mod will spot it soon enough.

Mine was an R reg Pinky vw polo. My first scrape was pulling the front bumper off trying to maneuver in a small country lane, only a few days after I passed my test at the direction of my friend.

I've never had a car. I tried to learn to drive when I was 19 - it didn't go well. I never took a test - I had a mock test, failed miserably, then had to stop lessons to start having surgery on my leg. I never tried again.

my first bump was when I was 17, I reversed into a lamp post on a car park! Xxx

I bumped my Hilux on some "safety bollards" when I was driving it down the highway when I was 25. I think having to bump that to a bollard (and say, not a tree) helped my car still look presentable. These bollards were durable!
