Me and my partner are getting married in May 2012. It seems so far away and just wanted a wedding buddy who was getting married about the same time. My sister got married in about 6months and I don't think I could cope with the amount of stress that she went through. We're planning on making as much as possible to keep the costs down. It's been fun! (though the only thing we've done so far is the confetti, lol) We've been engaged for about a month now, only because I was being fussy when it came to picking a ring. We've been together for almost 4years and have 3 gorgeous children together. Marriage was definatly the next step to our fun and happy relationship. As we're getting married in Spring the choices of colours we mostly pastel (which I love) I'm a girly girl and naturally the right colour would be pink! My hubby-2-b wasn't over the moon about this lol. Being so close to christmas and having a wedding so far away I've been limited on things I can do, so I've been very bored. Once Christmas is out the way we can kick start the wedding and the wedding diet will begin. Weddings are fun, even better when there your own Thanks for reading, Julia xx
Am a June 2012 bride....so far we have booked...church/venue/tog......i agree there isnt a lot more we can do this side of Christmas, but can't wait until New Years and then I can say 'am getting married next year' he he, after Christmas we hope to book the cars and get the suits sorted, then i soooo want to start dress shopping, even if its just trying on the different dresses out there!
We are going with a Fushia Pink & Purple colour scheme x
Hia! im getting married june 2012- cant wait! ive been busy booking things having such a fab time looking at all the diffrent stuff!!! i think ive picked my dress but ive only tryed on 5 dresses and im not sure weather to just go for it and get this one or try some more on!!! xx
Im a 2012 bride too 21st april for me so far iv booked the venue and paid deposit on registra and also bought my cake topper had one session trying dresses but guna wait til after xmas now to do some more x
how exciting that you've been to try on dresses!!!! I would say carry on and try a few more on but if your mind keeps going back to this one or you start to compare other dresses to it, then go and get it! I cant wait to start trying dresses on!!
What date in June are you? were 16th and cant wait!
We've booked quite a bit as a come from a small area with not altot really! and im doing my social work degree so im quite buzy alot of the time so dont want to get stressed out!! urm weve booked our venu, cars, photogropher and sorted out kilts and bridesmaids stuff too! im a little bit obsessed!!! lol Marrying June 22nd!!
I am so happy there are others out in the same boat. I have been feeling miserable, and worrying that everything isn't going to be ready or be what we want. We have a good budget but I'm worrying about going over, everything weddingy is so expensive and way over priced! :-( Though saying that ebay has been my friend for wedding stuff so I've been able to buy things just not the fun things e.g buy a dress, wedding venue and pink things lol. With a wedding so far in advance I really hope me, my kids, and my hubby will really enjoy put it all together and personalising it with handmade invites, confetti and the wedding cake. My hubby2b and I are big fans of retro sweets so we're adding that to the wedding as favours.
Sounds like its going to be fun making a lot of the stuff yourself, wish i could but am totally useless at things like that!!!
Were going along with a New York theme (as well as the colours) as this is where we got engaged, so hoping to have our invites with a NY theme and table plan, etc table names named after places in NY, so really looking forward to this starting to come together..
Have spotted a few things on ebay also and local supermarkets!, sweet barrels (actuallt biscuits barrels in Asda - thanks to Flow, another hitcher) £1 each!!! going to get myself some of these and make our own sweet table....
As for favours...were having Apples - to represent the 'Big Apple'!!! he he x
We're going to give it a try so hopefully it works lol. Oh wow, that's very different :-) How are you doing the theme? And what are the colours? Weddings are exciting aren't they. I can't wait to be Mrs. Pitt now, been practising my signature lol.
Im a 2012 bride! We are looking at September, going to see the Church next week and hopefully pay a deposit. Have a few reception venues in mind, so will decide over Christmas.
Trying to work out our budget at the moment, i didn't realise how much everything cost!
Im getting married August 2012, I have booked so far... the cars, band, TOG, chair cover hire and we have chosen the venue but not yet paid the deposit, I have chosen my dress as I fell in love with it the moment I saw it lol, think we have found the cake we want and also booked the caricaturist for the evening reception.
Our colours are cadbury purple and white. If you are looking for very reasonable costing BM dresses a lot of us on here are using a woman from Birmingham and she is VERY good!
Hmmm, not 100% how were going to make it work yet, he he
But colours were having Fushia Pink & Purple, i.e. BM's will be in these colours, ushers will have purple cravats and groom will have pink one, chair colours will be pink & purple (i.e. white chair covers with 1 chair pink sash, next one purple sash etc), flowers (i think) in the middle will be pink & purple and then the NY theme will be along the lines of...
Yellow NY taxi cabs to arrive in (really looking forward to this!!!), NY themed invite cards, table plan NY theme with each table being named after places in NY (i.e. Tiffanys, bloomingdales etc), Green Apple with luggage tag (shaped as a leaf) with the persons name on - therefore doubling up as name places also...was thinking of maybe getting a few bits and pieces of miniture replicas of places in NY and placing these on the tables also and then getting the cake - am thinking of a cake that looks like stacks of Tiffany boxes with a yellow cab and a Mr & Mrs on the top!
Thats as far as ive got so far, he he - this is mostly in my head at the min but this is the way forward me thinks!!
Do you think it will be a bit much with the colours and the NYC theme??
Sarah, that sounds awesome No definatly not! It's very fitting, you may need a snow machine to complete the nyc theme
I would love to see how you pulled it all together
I've found that if something has the words 'Wedding' they put another £500 on top :/ very frustrated! Mine and my hubby's budget is £4,000. We've cut out the wedding breakfast (too formal for me) and we're going to make as much as possible to keep costs down. We're getting the later booking at the register office so we just have the even reception to worry about. That way we can have everything we want.
oh wow, you've done loads. I have been holding back tbh, I want christmas to be special with the kids then the wedding. I am dreading after the wedding though, I'm on a diet (YUCK!!). Lol
Im a may 2012 bride too, may 26th to be preices and my coluor themes pink(i have a pink dress eeeek!!)
Ive been saying once christmas is out fo the way i can statrt doing stuff..but have so many dieas now after being on here a while i dont knw where il start
I'm Aug 2012, and have booked church and reception venue, and pretty much tog. I've also already bought my dress and tiara ?
Looking forward to next year though so we can start looking at the pretty things like cake and flowers! Too many ideas floating round in my head at the moment I have no idea how we'll actually decide on anything lol.
We are getting married June 16th 2012. We got engaged 6 weeks ago and so far we have booked:
Wedding Venue
Registrar
chair covers
Hairdresser
Photographer
Purchased all stationary to make ourselves
We have decided on the colour scheme, Ivory and Mocha and have sent save the date invitations out to all the guests. I'm a nightmare when it comes to planning, as my H2B says, once i have an idea in my head i have to plan plan plan!
Me and one of my bridesmaids will be atending the NEC wedding Fayre next May, so hoping to get some more ideas and purchases then.
Woo hoo a date twin!!!! Am 16th June 2012 too!!!, you've done a few more bits than us so far though, he he,
So far we have, Church/Venue/TOG, hopefully will have cars/mens suits in Jan, then am going to start dress hunting nxt year, our colour scheme is Fushia Pink & Purple and we are also having a New York theme (this is where we got engaged) so we know what we want for favours etc etc and how we want our invites x
Hi everyone, we are getting married 2nd June 2012. We have booked the venue and our colour scheme is red satin. Not having favours. I have seen some "out of this world" dressers on the internet, but I am going to go and try some on after Christmas! I can't wait, Congratulations to you all. Next year will fly for us. X
Can't really do a lot now until the new year. We have only organised a lot as my friend is a hairdresser and my sisters boyfriend is a photographer in the RAF, so getting them for free! which has saved us a great expense.
Time will fly I'm sure, i will start to look for bridal and bridesmaid dresses next year. My H2B already knows which suits he wants and have a vague idea about flowers etc.
(Nice to know there's someone else getting married on the same date Sarah-we can get excited together!
I'm a 2012 bride to (only just January 21st for us!) and i'm well impressed with all the stuff everyone seem's to have done!!! i feel like i may need to pull my finger out come Jan!!! so far we have
Booked venue (bothe ceremony and reception in one place)
Catering (all covered by said venue)
registrar booked- just need to give notice etc (again all booked by venue)
tog booked
Bridesmaid dresses bought
and thats it!!! if it wasn't for the venue's package sorting a lot out i'd be even more behind ?
Yay! it's always better to have a date twin to see whereabouts they are up to and how each other are getting along! Am sure we will have loads of fun and trauma over the next 12 months! he he.
Yep, i bet! We'll be in the same boat. Its all trial and error. I was just glad that i have this site to get advice about things, otherwise i think id be in the dark! Plus it's nice to share ideas.
I'm just really hoping it doesn't rain! Will buy ivory umbrellas just in case!
I've thought about umbrella's also, and someone on here posted a pic of one from this website findmeagift.com and am thinking of buying one of these, really big and pretty...but am also hoping that June will be nice and sunny, usually if previous years are to go by its normally nice weather while the kids are still in school then come July when they brake up its horrible!
I've had loads of advice and good ideas from joining this site, we got engaged in October and i've been on here since! he he
