Button Bouquet and Button Wand - *Updated flash Pg4*

BumbleBrat, 6 January, 2011 at 22:47 Posted on Planning 0 70

My best friend (Also bridesmaid!) came over today as she's lives quite far away at the mo as she's gone back to uni. Awesome day, we visited the Castle I'm getting married in so I could show her the room we'll be in and all the grounds etc then when we came back we decided to make a start on my button bouquet for some reason.. Anyway, I think it went well and it's almost finished, just needs a few more bits towards the bottom then the handle wrapping..

Ta-da!

(Pics aren't great with it being almost 11pm, will take some in natural light tomorrow Smiley laugh)

You may be able to spot 3 cat buttons.. For my boys ?

Oh that is so cute! I love it, especially the "I love you" button. Well done you. How long has that taken to do?

Actually putting it all together tonight from scratch has taken about 2.5 hours.. We then rewarded ourselves by going to my local pub and having a slap up meal avec pud Smiley laugh

But finding all the buttons has taken months!!

That looks amazing! Well done you bet you are so chuffed to see it almost finished. All the hard work (and button searching!) has paid off!

I've still got three (yes three!!) button pomanders to make for my BM's...I just cant get motivated!

Thanks for all the positive comments! ?

Panda - Knew you'd notice that hehe, my fellow EB lover!

Lillibet - I've never heard of a phobia of buttons lol, glad you like it though!

Knitting vixen - I bought it all separately - Loadsa buttons, beads, bits of lace, ribbon etc.. Florists wire and the oasis bouquet holder. You just bend a piece of florist wire in halfand thread the buttons onto it, twist to secure and stab them in the oasis Smiley smile

MrsB_2B - Good luck with yours! I'm rather glad I decided to do just one lol, took forever to find this many buttons ha!

I have already asked my Mum to plant the roses for my bouquet, if I hadn't I would deffo have a go at making one for myself, especially seeing the great job you have made of yours (I have always loved these, but the price of them has put me off).

I am now considering making small ones for my bridesmaids...

I am already making a lot of stuff though (including knitting a bolero for myself) and I don't want to overstretch myself...

    We'll see!

I'm thinking about doing some kind of small buttony wand for my flowergirl.. Will see how many decent buttons I have left when my bouquet is finished.

Everyone needs pretty buttons in their life Smiley laugh

I think its because my mum taught me to count with buttons when I was little. Scarred for life by maths haha! I'm not scared of them as such, they just sort of fill me with dread and make me feel a bit sick! I'm alright with big buttons, its just little ones - especially shirt buttons. I'm shuddering at the mere thought of them lol.

Didn't use glue in the end, it's rather sturdy as it is, just pushed the wire as far in as I could after I'd chopped a bit off. Was all guesswork really lol

Ahh yeah sure Flow, I'll just chuck one together.. Easy peasy ha! ?

I tried to make a small one of these ones (no where near as beautiful as yours!!!) but I couldn't get the wires to stay in. Even if it tipped slightly they fell out! I used dry oasis, but I fear it was a cheapo version because I bought it off ebay. Any advice on how to make more sturdy??

My fear is that if I used heavy brooches or buttons my bouquet would fall apart mid way through the ceremony!!

That looks amazing BB - I did promise you some buttons and did collect them so if you still want them send me your address and I'll stick them in the post. I also promised some red ones to someone - Mrsevens perhaps? Not sure! Anyhow I can post them too.

Mybouquet is coming along. I have made about twenty flowers now but also planning to do my BM one so really need to get a move on!
