COD is driving me nuts!

(Claire), 13 July, 2011 at 10:50 Posted on Planning 0 52

My OH is becoming increasingly addicted to the above for those who are lucky enough to not be familiar with the above it is the crap play station game - Call of Duty! Its all he does, he comes home we chat for 10 mins have tea chat a bit more and then at about 7.00 he starts and he's there for hours! I have only recently noticed this because its been consecutive nights now, Monday and Tuesday but I’m thinking the football season starts in a few weeks team that up with COD what is my life going to be like! Anyway I have already arranged to go to a mates tonight for a glass of wine - and he can COD all he likes! He's 31! Oh and the best bit, because he obviously feels slightly bad he keeps asking me if I want to play with him as if! Can you imagine! I said well you come and watch Dirty Dancing with me and Ill play COD with you.. he didn’t answer!

I thought COD was a wedding planning abbreviation that I didn't know about when I saw the title of this thread as I only know COD as Call of Duty!

Never mind......leaves you free to Hitch!

    Hey!

One of my friends has EXACTLY the same problem with her OH. It drove her totally insane so she hatched a plan. She basically started to make plans nearly every night, like going to the gym, going out with the girls, late night shopping etc etc and it didn't take long until he felt left out and started questioning why she didn't want to spend any time with him any more, until it clicked, she was simply SOOOO bored of the playstation!!!! It worked though, he has now cut down so much on playing and they spend more quality time together!

BTW - he's 32 , it seems they never grow up lol!!!

    Good luck!!!! x

Think yourself lucky Claire! I didn't mind when he was addicted to that (or any PS3 game) as it left the PC free for me. Now he's decided to re-ignite his love for Football Manager on the PC so I'm stuck with my bloody iphone all evening trying to read and reply to hitched! Thank god he's back on lates soon so I can have the TV and the PC all to myself for a few days!

Nooooooo COD is amazing! Me and OH both love playing it, its like a little joint obsession of ours. And I don't usually like shooting type games, but it is actually the best game ever. Why don't you give it a go? You might like it once you get the hang of it! Tis terribly addictive... Sorry, probably not what you want to hear hehe.

My OH loves his PS3 too, he's currently obsessed with Gran Torismo (sp?), Fifa and COD. I don't mind too much, I can read or use the computer while he's playing. When he's playing COD I quite often help him to spot enemies and to work out which direction he should be heading.

I've heard the term if you cant beat them join but not in this case - I am going to try the making plans on an evening thing and see if that gets his attention, he'll proabably think all his christmas's have come at once being left to COD with no nagging wife to be, not that I nag I havnt got the energy with it being 11 days until our wedding. I dont mind him playing it every day its the endless hours that he plays it for which annoys me but hey such is life - watch this space!

I feel for you. I think that would drive me up the wall. I'm very lucky that my OH doesn't play any of these types of games. He's got the internet on his phone so all he does is read the BBC news and retrieve Guitar Tabs off it and sit's and plays his guitar. Which is fine by me! i love listening to him play.

My OH likes to play COD, but he doesn't go online and he ends up completing it in a couple of days - I think that annoys me more as the game is fairly expensive!! He did get addicted to World of Warcraft, but now I join him and we play along side each other!!

My OH plays when he's home alone, but he likes to sit and talk/curl up and watch TV etc the rest of the time.

It's me who has the obsession, he hates that i'm online so much. I have to do it during the day when he's at work, otherwise I get moaned at for being online when he's home as "we haven't seen each other all day".

I'd like him to play it more, I could hitch in peace then

Glad we are not the only ones! I've been playing WoW for several years too, and introduced my b2b to it, she started off playing with a character on my account and picked it up quite quickly, so she got her own account and now we play together. I've got an 85 which is still my main but we've started some new characters and go round togther, we've got a pair of 37's as our highest so far and some other low level chars which we're trying out different races and classes and I'm also picking some new professions which I hope to be able to build up to a point of helping out my 85 main with some of the professions there (such as inscription to make fortune cards, so my main can use her 525 cooking skill to make fortune cookies.

    I'm on the left.

Yeah, we're much the same, we both have 85's but the Heroic dungeon's were getting frustrating with people not knowing what they are supposed to be doing. I now have a lvl 70 DK and we both have lvl 13 Bloodelves to see what the difference was between alliance and hoarde regions!

My frustration having hit 85 is now most of the things left for me to do are indeed multi level dungeons that require groups of people, and I never seem to do very well in those sort of groups as everyone except me know what they're doing and don't have the patience to explain to me what I should be doing, or what's about to happen. I've maxxed cooking and archaeology, and I'm on about 485 on fishing now. Jewelcrafting was my other skill but that's a bit frustrating as I have to use my other character that has mining to supply her with materials - and she's only a 52 so I can't do all the high level ores yet.

I feel your pain! My OH is obsessed with it too. I wouldn't mind but it makes him so angry when he doesn't do well on it, it drives me nuts. He's so mild mannered usually, but COD brings the devil out in him and he shouts and swears and throws the controller across the room. He's on his fourth controller in about 2 years, at £40 a go that's a bit ridiculous. Sometimes, I have to treat him like a child and say he has 3 strikes and if he shouts or bangs the controller more than 3 times, I'll take the disk out and it'll be out of the window and underneath a tram!

I love it how £40 for a controller is "wasting money" yet many of you ladies waste money buying shoes you can hardly walk in, time after time, because you just "have to have" them.

It's all a matter of perspective. Just because you don't understand or find something important, doesn't mean your OH isn't allowed to.

You could be describing my OH - only with him its any PS3 game - if someone cuts him up in GT or the ref in fifa gives the other team a soft penatly he's swearing and slamming the controller down or flinging it into the sofa. Then he wonders why the controller stops working (he's 'killed' 2 controllers so far). God knows what the neighbours think he's up to with all the noise!

I have no problem with the cost of the games or controllers, I have a hobby which is just as expensive - I just try to take care of my photography gear instead of flinging it around.

Classic comedy. I guess if you only watch 'chick flicks' you miss out on so much other stuff. It was from 1984 so I guess some of you weren't even around then.

I do think £40 a pop on controllers is a waste of money, just because he can't express his frustration in other ways, like vocally. Although it annoys me, I would rather he shouted, it's cheaper! And, for the record, I hate shoes!

I'm so glad my h2b doesn't like this sort of thing, it would drive me crazy. He is however obsessed with his motorbikes; golf; pool to name but a few, lol.
