Disposable cameras

Bubbles369, 2 June, 2012 at 14:31 Posted on Planning 0 25

I've been wondering about this, I love the idea but the pictures are not always brilliant. So I wondered had anyone considered or even done this. Digital cameras especially second hand ones are so cheap on ebay, that I was considering buying one per table there are tons of working second hand ones for around £10. I just wondered if they would be used or would people think they belonged to another guest. I thought I could put a huge lable on but there is no point if they are not used.

Any thoughts?

My OH really wanted to do the disposable camera idea, and I quickly quashed it (which I felt really bad about because it was one of the few things he felt passionate about -- but I feel passionately against it.)

First, drinking + disposable cameras = pictures of body parts you may not want to see!

Second, you're going to have to develop them. Some pictures might be good; others horrible; and some will be of those aforementioned body parts. I'd rather not pay to see those!

Third, you've already made the excellent point about digital cameras. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother buying them because most guests already have them or have phones with cameras.

If you do want to do something different how about a Polaroid camera? You could get a couple and put a few guests in charge of them to take photos of other guests?

We gave disposable cameras to some of the older kids with a list of photos to take.

Other than that we let guests take their own and when we sent out our thank you cards, we included a note which asked them to send us copies on email or by post.

I think with social networks there are loads of pics being taken that you can quickly and easily get copies of so not to worry.

Out of all the weddings i've been to i've never heard of any rude pictures. Rubbish ones yes, but not rude. Some of the most natural and fun photos can be taken on disposal cameras.

I'm having them, one per table. Then one each per two children ( 1 niece and 1 nephew and then my other 2 nephews together) and given them a list of pics to take. I'll then put them in an album for them.

I am having them, one per table and then one for OHs 9 year old nephew with a list of things to spot. I don't even care if the older guests do take snaps of rude body parts...in fact it would be tradition for my bridesman to have a 'surprise' one that we end up developing!

I liked the idea of them but OH hates crappy photos! Also nearly everyone has a digital camera or a phone with a decent camera. As mrs c said, we will inclde a note to send us copies of photos Smiley smile

I've heard of some people putting disks on the tables too for people to copy their photos onto and then send to the couple after.

We didnt have them as i was a fussy bride and didnt want them ruining my carefully decorated table lol.

but i REALLY regret it as my tog refused to take photos of the guests at the tables and these are shots i wanted to have as a reminder so if id have had disposable ones then at least i might have got a few.

This is what we are doing, except putting a pile of them on the table with our postbox. Hardly cost us anything either.

Pinky6 you can buy ones with a white paper on one side and print on them (if you're not already doing that). From experience too, can someone hand them out for you in the evening as once people have posted their card they don't tend to go back there. It's the same with guest books. I find people fill them in when passed around rather than left somewhere. x

I am going to have 1 per table so that the guests can take their own pictures and the good ones we can stick in our guest book as a fun reminder of the day. It never occured to me that we might have rude photos, it is possible but it doesnt bother me, they can just go in the bin.

I am only having 7 tables anyway so the cost of developing doesnt worry me, I wont get around to doing it until a few months after the wedding.

We are doing this ... the guest book will be in a box with glue dots, pens, stickers, etc and passed round the tables. I am hoping the guests will all take pics of each other and then stick it in the guest book and write messages.

I did think about disposable cameras but at a recent wedding the little ones ending up using them and the bride and groom have a collection of photos including the toilets, the soup, bread rolls, the waiting staff, small fingers (in front of the lens) and the carpet!!!

I don't think its really necessary everyone i know has their own digital camera (not including the one they also have on their phone) and its easy to get copies or share via facebook these days too.

Why not have someone with a laptop and ask guests with digital cameras to put their memory cards in at the end of the eve so you can have copies of their photos straight away?

I went to a wedding and they had CD's (with their photo on) for you to take home, load your photos on and send them to the Bride & Groom. Thought that was a good idea.

I'm not a massive fan of the idea to be honest, as I really hate rubbish quality photos. I was at a wedding at the weekend where they had them and I don't expect the photos will come out very well TBH. Half the time people forgot to use the flash.

I'm loving the idea of giving people a disc to put their photos on, or asking them to upload them onto a laptop before going!

We had them at my sons wedding. I put a little card beside them with a rhyme telling guests to use them. We got some lovely photos and some rubbish ones, but no rude ones. It was quite expensive to get them all developed but i made a couple of lovely wedding collages. This was 8years ago before modern mobiles. x

Where did you the camera and film? I looked into this and thought it would end up costing a bomb. I really like the idea of sticking a photo of all the guests I the guest boom though...

We are putting disposable cameras on the table, as sometimes you get some random/funny photos. We are giving them to children at the wedding too with a listof things to spy and phtoograph. It may be we get no good ones, but for an ebay bargain, it wont be the end of the world.

We've got 40+ of OH's regiment coming to ours and I dread to think what the disposable cameras would capture. We've always said we were going to have blank DVD's to take away and send back to us. Turns out my stationer will actually print the inserts with our information on too!

Although what is the resolution being uploaded??? FB is not always great compared to the original quality, which is annoying if the image is good..

I have seen some couples have the best man or ushers with a laptop at a wedding going around and collecting everyones images from their cameras or phones....thats another take on a similar theme....and reliant on a sober friend!!!

As with most things I have bought ... ebay. Its probably cost about £60 all together but the camera can be used after the wedding by my little ones. You can buy a little portable digital printer now as well which would do a similar thing if you can't get a polaroid
