Dress Colour???

manda29, 18 June, 2011 at 19:49 Posted on Planning 0 31

Hi all

Just wondering on what your opinions are on a blush pink wedding dress. It's a very subtle pale colour, I fell in love with it but slightly concerned that people will think its odd. Anyone else got a different colour dress?

Thanks :-)

    Not odd at all.

I'm having a black dress. Coloured dresses seem to be more popular than they used to be.

Thanks that makes me feel so much better.

My mum was crying because it was so gorgeous on. I hated it before I tried it on (very strange)

Not tried any on yet (2 years and weight to shift first!) but I was advised to try on every style possible, as with wedding dresses you don't really know what suits you until you've got it on...or thats the theory anyway!

    According to tradition...

Married in White, you have chosen right,
Married in Blue, your love will always be true,
Married in Pearl, you will live in a whirl,
Married in Brown, you will live in town,
Married in Red, you will wish yourself dead,
Married in Yellow, ashamed of your fellow,
Married in Green, ashamed to be seen,
Married in Pink, your spirit will sink,
Married in Grey, you will go far away,
Married in Black, you will wish yourself back.

But as others have said, colours are very much "in" these days, and really you can have whatever colours you want.

There are LOADS of us going for colours - I'm in red. We've done a few threads before - try searching.

The blush pink can be gorgeous - what colour are your BMs?

I think there is no right or wrong - its an individual choice. If you've fallen in love with this dress then its for a reason. Don't let others put you off if its truly "the one".

I say go for it (and its not strange!!)

That old rhyme thing is ridiculous!

So, to have a happy marriage, you have to marry in white, blue or maybe brown?!!

who in heaven's name would marry in a brown or blue dress?!!!

I hate some of those old 'traditions'!

Thank you all. Once again you've put my mind at rest.

I don't have a flash as I've not paid the deposit yet but as soon as I have I will flash :-)

And I also don't know what dress it is as it is a lady that makes them at her house.

It really is beautiful but more expensive than I wanted to pay but I think as I've fell in love with it I won't find a cheaper one that I like.

We are not following tradition any way as we are marrying in a hotel, not having a top table, groom not making a speech, not having a first dance as we are both too shy for these things. Maybe we'll change our minds as time goes on but doubt it ?

I had a champagne dress and loved it. It was actually called 'gold and peach' on the label!

Its great to know so many of you have different coloured dresses. I am quite a pale person so this dress really suits my colour better than white would. I've found a pic on internet but don't know how to flash so if anyone can advise what to do I'll post it

Lol well I am f**ked then!

I think coloured dresses are nicer than white ones (just my opinion!) . You should wear whatever YOU want. Its your day!

daft! Not so much an old wives tale, but a warning not to wear a dress in a colour that rhymes with something bad...

It's just a colour. It doesn't mean anything. If the bride is in love with the dress and the colour.. who cares what anyone else will think? Go with your heart.

Mines not white/ivory. Really don't like the typical shiny white strapless dresses so its good that theres something for us awkward ones :-)

By the way, i hate pink and princessey dresses with lots of fuss but I really like yours! Its not for me but its quite whimiscal and unusual! Very pretty!

Go for it! My dress is pink (not exactly Jordan pink, but definitely pink!) I don't care what anyone else thinks - some people gave me a funny look or laughed because they thought I was joking when I told them, but I love it!

    ❤️

I'm glad I'm going for something different. White or ivory is just not me.

    Hiya,

I think blush pink will be gorgeous! I think it's really lovely and people won't think it's strange at all.

I got married in a dark cream dress, but the official colour was light gold.

Traditionally its white and in chinese its red. But pink is ok if that what you like. It allows the bride to really stand out and for her to be radiant.
