How Much Are You Paying For Your Venue?

Rizzo, 19 January, 2011 at 17:10 Posted on Planning 0 63

Following on from Zobo's thread about their wedding venue bargain, I was just wondering what everyone is paying for their venue and what it includes.

Ours is costing us £4000 for a Saturday wedding in July.

The following is included:

Ceremony and function room hire

Canapés

A Champagne cocktail reception drink

A luxurious 5 course Wedding Breakfast with coffee and mints

Two glasses of wine with the meal

A glass of Mercier Champagne for the toast

Evening Finger buffet for 120 guests (only supplying for 90, following the venue's advice)

Chair Covers and Coloured sash of your choice

White linen napkins and table cloths

Dance floor

Red carpet welcome

Cake stand and knife

Wedding host for all the ceremonial duties

Bridal suite (bed & breakfast)

Menu tasting prior to your wedding

We are also having the Bridal Suite the night before so I can check in whatever time I want on the morning of the wedding and my H2B has got a room at the hotel the night before and has got late check out for the day of the wedding.

Wow you are getting a lot for your money!!

How many are you having during the day, if you don't mind me asking?

ETA: We are spending £3,000 and that is 150 guests @ £20 per person for a welcome drink and high tea and evening buffet - no toast drinks package as yet, but I am working on it with OH.......

    50. We were meant to be paying £5000 for 60 guests but when the venue foound out that we only wanted 50 guests and that another venue were willing to cater for that number she offered us the £4000 price and chucked in the bridal suite for an extra night plus the room for my H2B.

We are on a tightish budget an so we have opted for hiring the Town Hall (which is beautiful) and getting an outside caterer and bar in.

    Costs:

    Hall Hire = £450

Caterer (3 course meal for 92 guests and night buffet for 170) = £2727

    Table drinks = £300

    Total = 3477

Wow you have all done really well! We wrote off a 3/5 course wedding breakfast because we couldn't justify the expense, but that said, we would have 150 day guests so perhaps we were right to do so. Hmm, makes me wonder at the 6.5 month mark, which is not good.... ?

Wow Mooey80 you are getting a really good package there.

We are paying £75.00 per head for 50 guests, we get canapes, reception drink, 3 course meal and 1/2 bottle wine per person and 1 glass of Lanson champagne for the toast and coffee. We also have to pay £17.95 per head for the evening buffet for 80 guests. All the decorations, flowers and chair covers are down to us to provide. They wanted £500 for the ceremony room!! but we got it knocked off and 10% discount on the rooms. We reserved 20 rooms at £72 and any not taken we will have to pay for.

We also get red carpet, cake stand, co-ordinator on the day and bridal suite.

They also take £1000 deposit in case of any damage to the property and fittings by our guests.

The reason we really love the place though is because we have the whole house and gardens exclusively until Sunday afternoon so will be totally private, and some places wanted £1000's on top of the package price just for exclusivity in our area so seemed a fair deal.

Our wedding venue is £450. We have full use of the whole house for 3 hours so plenty of time for photos, canapes and drinks afterwards, hopefully the weather will be nice as the house has a beautiful garden with waterfall. Because it dates back to the early 1500's you cannot hold a reception there but luckily our local inn is not charging us any hire for their restaurant. This has helped us loads because it means we can treat everyone to a lovely 3 course meal and drinks. ?

You are definetly getting a good deal there!!

ours is £4000 for the venue alone! we dont really get anything included in that just exclusive use of the venue.

We are then looking at another £4500 for catering and probably £1000 for drinks!

like i say you have got a really good deal!

Wowsers everyone's got some really good deals there!

Mine is costing £3k. And for that I get...erm... free use of the toilets? lol. On a more serious note, thats just the venue charge, and included in that is all linen, cutlery and glasses, a few flowers I think.

Catering is on top of that, and ranges between £50-80 per head depending on what we go for food wise (but we won't choose that until next year I don't suppose, so won't know full price til then). Evening buffet will be a further £8ish per head. They don't provide any alcohol (I don't think), so we do that ourselves but there is no corkage fees which is quite good I think... Also its exclusive use, and an August saturday wedding.

And this was one of the cheaper venues near us! ? But for us, its exactly what we wanted, if a little more than we were expecting to pay...

We are paying £4600 for 100 guests in the day (welcome drink, 1/2 bottle of wine with meal, glass of champagne for toast, 3 course meal) + 180 guests fish & chips in the evening. That also includes all the tables, chairs, table cloths, runner and matching napkins, an outdoor bar for guests while we have our photos done and the and the DJ in the evening. I think it's a pretty decent bargain!

Our venue cost £2500 just for the hire charge, but it is all ours all night and we also get it for a few hours on Friday to set up and a few hours on Sunday to clean up.

In total our wedding looks to be costing around £12-13k, but I think we're getting a fair amount for that... firstly it's in London, which bumps all the prices up, and then we're having a 3-course sit-down meal for 220 people, 2 Routemaster buses for transport, and all the other bits and bobs included... cake, photographer, DJ, dress, suits etc.

Ours is £1500 for venue- including red carpet, linen, cutlery, cake stand and knife, exclusivity of the venue, silver service.

We are having a total of 80 guests for the day ceremony and wedding breakfast and around 120 people for the evening reception.

Then on top we are paying £24 a head for 3 course wedding breakfast (we managed to haggle and cut the costs dramatically!) Then evening reception we are having a hog roast- £10.50 per person and only being charged for 75% of the guests attending.

This was one of the cheaper places for us to have our wedding- and for us one of the nicest! ?

Thats a really good deal- mine's pretty simular but twice the price (details are earlier in the post) we're in Kent and I just checked our venue and even for a mid-week wedding the min price is £5500- I'm beginning to think I should have gone back to Newcastle (where i'm origionally from) the budget would have went a lot further!!

We're in Oxford and have the village hall from 9am Friday til 11.45pm Sunday for £600, that's for the bank holiday weekend in August. We only get tables and chairs included for that, we need to hire all our cutlery and crockery etc in through our caterers. Hence our catering quote for 80 people is about £2500 for all the equipment, staff, canapes, BBQ, berries to go with our wedding cake for pud and evening buffet of cheeses, crackers, chutneys and pate etc. Still need to buy the drinks and decorate the place on top of that too!

We live in Switzerland and hence are paying in Swiss Francs (around 1.5 CHF to the pound).

We have hire of the venue (may not be exclusive use - we are getting married in the stables, and the reception is in the wine cellar), including linens & tableware for 3,600CHF - around 2400GBP. We can have chair covers for an additional 400GBP, but that seems a bit expensive to me so I'm shopping around.

The catering is separate - they also provide the staff. I estimate that this will cost around 7,000CHF (~4500GBP) for a three course dinner. We are supplying our own booze which they will serve at no extra charge.

This is for around 100 guests.

The only cost I know so far is the marquee hire, which is £1,500.

We'll then have the costs of catering, table hire etc on top of that.

No venue hire fees, as the reception will be in the grounds of my fiancé's parents' house.
