New Years Eve

Becklarrr, 4 December, 2012 at 11:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 29

So what is everyone's plans this year?

OH & I are going to a really nice Thai restaurant in town and will then see where the road takes us. We have never spent a New Year just the two of us so will be nice to do that this year!

We're doing same as the last 2 years... local pub! I've always celebrated near years with my whole family and never had a proper night out for it. We used to always have parties at my mums house but it's easier to go to the pub now.

£1 a ticket, invite only (no riff-raff!) and a hog roast, plus cheap booze and some gorgeous home made curries by the landlord - oh, and it's in walking distance of my mums house, no designated drivers!

I always get a bit grumpy about NYE, how our local decides to charge folks to get trhough the door, and if you decide not to do anything then you are seen as a scrooge!

Any who, this is actually the first NYE in about 4 years that H doesnt have a gig! we are having people around ours. just going to get some nibbles, drinks, fizz and sparklers. quite chilled out really. Plus we have a few friends who have little ones sothey will be bringing them.

PIL will be planning something but I'm holding out to see if we get a better offer! (Is that mean?!) Last year we had a party at PILs (always lots of fun to be fair to them) so had to turn down an offer to spend it with friends which I would have loved.

Depends what offers we get though as can only spend it with the people who already know I'm pregnant as there is no way I could hide the non-drinking on NYE!

We are spending it in Teesside with my family which we have never done. We are getting dressed up to the nines, going to the local pub and then afterwards we will go back to my Aunts and carry on the Paaarttyyyy!

We're off to cornwall for New Year. And will be celebrating the night itself in Jamie Oliver's 15 at the NYE party there. Good food, cocktails and dancing til 2am.

Then stagger over the road to the apartment we have hired.

I cant wait to get away with just H and forget everything else x

The only reason we're going all out is because we hope its the last one we have on our own! Hopefully this time next year there will be a mini Rod either here, or on its way!

    Yep Rod definitely wins!

I'm off to my best friends parents house as they are having an engagement party there. It's literally up the road from my parents house though so no one has to drive

I hate new year. It's the anniversary of my dad leaving us and lots of crappy things happening so I don't like it one bit.

Normally working at 5an but I'm off this year so I'm not sure.

We normally go away to Scotland for New Year, but this year we're not as we're skint. We'll probably stay in and watch the TV, unless anyone we know is throwing a party.

We are going to a friend's house. There will only be 6 of us but I hate going out on NYE so it suits me. Drinks, food and trivial pursuit ?! We are old beyond our years I think

I am working until 10 and then in at 7am the next day, probably staying over at work if there are rooms available. Might ask if the OH can stay with me like he did last Christmas when I had to stay over at work.

We are going to a 70's fancy dress party. I don't want to go. I am unhappy with my chosen outfit, and it doesn't look as though there will be many people there.

We are having our bestman, his wife and their 2 children over to ours. Will do some lovely food (or possibly Chinese takeaway!) with lots of beer/wine/champagne. Hubby is on call so he wont be drinking ☹️. Hopefully this will be the last one before kiddies.

I'm not sure what we're doing yet, I think it may just be me and the H for a change, we usually go away to Scotland as well, but this year I will mainly be sober ☹️ my first one in ages!!

Sorry Rod! It is our honeymoon though and we pretty much planned the entire wedding around this idea. We normally have fairly boring New Year plans.

We're all getting married next year so I think it'll be lots of fun, seeing in our year of marriage together.

I'm a total scrooge when it comes to NYE!!! I've not had an amazing one since 2000 where we had a street party, the rest have ranged from ok to down right rubbish! Usually go to someones house, then end up in the local pub, every year say we won't be doing it again, until we find ourselves right back there!

This year we are either going to see The Proclaimers at Stirling Castle. This could go either way. I do not doubt the band will be good, but weather obviously permitting and we went a couple of years ago and everyone got thrown out at 12.05 - so we never even had a chance to 'enjoy' the bells. Either that or I just stay in with MF in the new place. I've already planned next year though - everyone round to ours! It will be cosy but everyone will be drunk, warm and dry, which will be a change from previous years!!
