We went to Malaysia and Borneo. Whilst in Malaysia we travelled about on a plan excursion and on the way home we stopped in Dubai for 3 days. Meant we had a total of 12 flights and on the way there we were travelling from 5pm on the Monday until Wednesday at 4pm!
All the flights were worth it for these orange furry friends
I've done a little rekkie of our honeymoon idea... Just to get an idea of price...
I'm very scared now!
We're going to Canada to see the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. The dates for next year don't get released until autumn so can't book until then but I reckon it's probably gonna cost about £5000 for 2 weeks ? The grand prix itself will probably cost £500 including spending money.
So need to save about £300 extra a month. Overtime anyone??
6 days in Peru to visit Machu Picchu, 5 days in Buenos Aires learning to tango and some football, then 8 days on the beach in Rio de Janeiro - mega excited!
Im thinking of cornwall or london- honeymooning abroad is outta the question for us due to oh medical reason- so anyone with any recommendations? all of your honemoons sounds sooo exciting and i am a tad jealous[
It won't be until 3 months after the wedding, but we're going to (mostly) campervan around New Zealand for 3/4 weeks!! Still working on persuading OH that we need to have a minimoon straight after the wedding too....
We're going to the USA, doing Trailfinders Best of the West tour: Los Angeles - Santa Barbara - Monterey - San Francisco (with a trip to Alcatraz) - Yosemite - Death Valley - Las Vegas (with a day excursion helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon and lunch on a working cowboy ranch) . . . we're seriously excited and cannot wait, it's going to be a trip of a lifetime! ?
We're hoping for two weeks in the Scottish Highlands - one week in a nice little B&B near Fort Augustus and the other week on the Isle of Skye - setting off on the day after the wedding as we're 90 miles closer that if we left from home.
We're not lying around on a beach type people. We're into photography, walking and driving so it's a good fit for us.
Our original plan was to travel out to see OH's mum as she wouldn't be attending the wedding and spend the honeymoon with her but I couldn't face two weeks honeymoon with my MIL ?
We are postponing ours for quite a bit due to both funds and the fact
that it's winter and where we want to go we can't get to in winter. We
are off to Norway, summer 2012, we hope. We have family there and they
woill let us stay in their lovely hunting lodge on the edge of the fjord
and we will be then travelling up North to see the Midnight Sun at the
North Cape (I have been twice before but my OH hasn't and the nature
photographer inside him is giddy like a kid on Xmas morning!). Always
loved Norway - it's the once place on Earth I feel destressed, and
wonderful!
a few pics SORRY they're so big, they are older and scanned on rather than digitalabove - me at the North Cape; below - the lodge in North Norway where we have family, Midnight Sun at the North Cape etc.)
We are off to the Alton Towers hotel for 3 days mini moon on the Monday after the wedding and then going to Kuredu on the Maldives for two weeks at the end of October.
Maldives is out of season when we get married in June but we definitely didnt want to go straight back to work afterwards and having a delayed honeymoon gives us something to look forward to when planning is all over !
Ours is quite similar to this, also with Trailfinders. We're having two nights in San Francisco, then hiring a convertible and driving down the coast to LA over two days, 3 nights in Los Angeles then 4 nights in Las Vegas. We are so excited, only got the confirmation this morning. I was reading the info on the helicopter flights to the Grand Canyon, seriously tempted to add it on but i think we better get saving first.
My H2B is in Houston on assignment for a while so after the wedding I am going to live out there as a lady of leisure for just under 3 months ? and we are going to have a number of mini moons around the US instead of one big honeymoon. So far on the list of destinations are Las Vegas, New York, Boston and Hawaii x
Hehe! When are you off on Honeymoon? You're doing it the total opposite way round to us, we could pass each other en route as we're driving too (the honeymoon fund wouldn't stretch as far as a convertible though unfortunately).
If you do end up doing the Grand Canyon tour our Trailfinders rep advised us that the overnight ones aren't really worth all the extra money as you still only get about the same amount of time at the Grand Canyon as you do on the cheaper 1 day trips, I was tempted by the overnight ones, but they are PRICEY and we'll be staying in Vegas anyway, so we figured one of the day excursions was as good as any.
This is the trip we're doing: https://tours.trailfinders.com/Tours/USA_Western-USA_Las-Vegas_Heli-USA-Grand-Canyon-Helicopter-and-Ranch-Discovery
We get married on the Friday then fly out to Vegas on the Sunday for 5 nights in the Venitian, we then hire a car and drive to Palm Springs in California (couldn't afford to stay on the coast as it seemed to be about £200+ a night!!) so we will drive around on our 5 nights there, then back to Vegas but this time Planet Hollywood for 1 more night before we fly back....so excited!! OH has been to Vegas and loved it so should be fun ?
Not uncomfortable at all! They come and see you over breakfast and check if you want anything, then pretty much leave you to it unless you call them. They will always remember what you've asked for and ask for something once and they'll ensure you get it everyday! The first day we asked for ice, and extra limes and mangoes (ice and limes for our G&Ts!) and that was it, the same time every day they'd bring it along for us - fab service.
The breakfasts are out of this world. It's a buffet but not like you've seen before. Things are made to order - it's fab. We were only talking this week that we want to go back for breakfast.
Dining on the Rocks is a fab restaurant too - it's Heston-esque deconstructed food. Oh and the lemongrass daquiris are lovely too.
The rooms are pretty much identitcal I believe, other than having a pool or not.
Sorry to highjack but i've been meaning to ask this question...
To all those going to Mexico...are you flying directly? We're going to the Secrets Resort Maroma and my dad, lovingly, booked our hotel from where he lives in the US. He booked our flights and hotel separately in US dollars as this was apparently cheaper for him. We are flying with Continental Airlines but we stop off in Houston for two hours (hopefully enough time to connect!). After doing a bit of research I've seen that only British Airways fly direct from London to Cancun without a stop and their flights are far too expensive for my Dad to change now....just wondered if any other airline carriers go direct so that we see if we can switch to an affordable direct flight???
Ah oks, I'm glad they're not there all day, I'll be honest! Looking forward to the food, loads of the reviews on Tripadvisor mention the breakfast! I'll be sure to try a Lemongrass Daiquiri too ?
Were off to egypt 5*, we getting married on the satuday and go the following thursday, unfortunatly OH has to go back to work on the mon, tues & wed before we go but nevermind
We're off to Mexico (like quite a few of you woot!). Ours is all inclusive 5* adults only for 11 nights, we fly out the Tuesday after our wedding on the Saturday ? We've already ear marked an all day trip to Chichen Itza and maybe a swim with dolphins.
I'm not sure about where we are going as I have asked OH to keep it a secret!! He had a chance to practice for my 30th recently and took me on a lovely trip to Rome so I am looking forward to some good times ?
