Quirky dates - have you chosen one?

overtherainbow, 3 February, 2011 at 16:21 Posted on Planning 0 38

Been getting a lot of enquiries for 10/11/12 weddings and wondered if anyone else has chosen a quirky date intentionally or it just happened accidentally?

Not a quirky date but I deliberately chose 08/08/10 as my lucky numbers have always been 8 and 10. The day we got engaged I jokingly looked up this date and saw it was a Sunday and from then on H had no choice in the matter - that was the day we were getting married!

We've not got a quirky date we wanted 28th but it was taken (28th was when we met)

So we then had a choice of the 14th or 21st July we didn't want the 21st at it is the date of when the OH father passed away so we decided on the 14th with is the OH's mother & fathers wedding date too which she said she was quite touched by it, !!

01.10.10 was popular for me but this year it seems to be Bank Holidays which are really popular.

I'm 11/3/11 but that's nothing to do with the number eleven, it's because it's our fourth anniversary of being together!

Ours is kind of quirky thinking about it but not intentional at all! He proposed on 08/09/10 and we are getting married 20/11/2011! The date of the wedding was all that was available at our venue.

    12 is out lucky number.

We got together on 12th, OH joined army on 12th, We took our 1st holiday on 12th and so our wedding is on 12th - TBH was keen for it not to be the 13th and we knew it HAD to be that weekend due to work commitments so we took Friday 12th.

Haha forgot to say what I came on to say....

My friend always said (before she met her H) that she would marry on 8/8/08 - he was aware of this and proposed intime to make her 'dream' come true.

Ours was more by accident because it was an available date that was convenient for the most important people.

When we got engaged, it was on the Chichester Canal on a private charter of their boat Egremont.

It turns out that our day, 17 September 2010, is the day of the Egremont Crab Fair in Cumbria.

At least I have something vaguely interesting to throw into my speech...

We're gatting married on 10.9.11 - almost quirky, just needs a slight number shuffle! It was the only date available at the venue we wanted ?

We wanted a Saturday and due to the deal at the venue it had to be from nov onwards so ours has ended up being 5th November 2011 too.

    Remember, remember...

He's got no excuse for forgetting out anniversary now!

Ours isn't really quirky, although it trips off the tongue easy enough - 011 011 (1st Oct 11). Both me and OH work with computers and it's one of the few 'almost binary' dates there was this year.

We're 18/06/2011 so not quirky at all.

I was born at 6:08pm on 18th August 1988... or 18:08 18/08/88 so that's enough 'quirky date' behaviour for me!

We considered 11/11/11, but its a friday and would mean family and friends all taking the day off. So...we've opted for 5th November. So fireworks each year :-)

    I'm not sure if my tracker is showing this correctly, but I've just seen Carmen has already replied;

We considered it, it was one of our 4 dates but it got dismissed because it's the week before my birthday and, frankly, I didn't want to be on honeymoon on my birthday (In a "I want my birthday to be a separate event" kind of way) I'm such a drama queen ?
