There's Only One Problem With Having The Day Filmed

Red Baroness, 23 August, 2012 at 16:26 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 19

Apart from cringing as you realise you actually sound nothing like you thought! You notice all the things that weren't right on the day that you had been completely oblivious to! Like the harpist not playing the music you requested during the signing of the register (my absolute favourite piece of classical music) and only playing a few seconds of the exit piece and immediately launching into something else as soon as the two of us were out of sight.

I didn't notice this at all at the time!

Well I hope you aren't annoyed or upset about it then!

I sound bizarre on video, not what I hear in my head at all.

I can't bring myself to watch the ceremony or speeches videos!

I love the 5 minute 'wedding video' but that's all to lovely music - I think I'm going to cringe when I pluck up the courage to watch the rest.

I was practically gurning when I said my vows. I think it was because I was trying to stop myself from crying ?

The thing I really hate is my poor sisters ugly bridesmaid dress ?

I loved my video, but I do hate the sound of my own voice!! H doesn't like to watch his speech either. We did notice though that he has a habit of looking up to the roof when dancing!! He couldn't work out why he did that ?

These posts have had me laughing- there is no way in hell I would even consider anything being filmed as I have a terrible habit of swearing and rolling my eyes which I would not like to be caught on camera ! Sometimes ignorance is bliss !

I also hate the sound of my voice, I never realise how Essex I sound until I hear my voice on tape!

I am the same, except far more Northern than I ever think I sound. When I hear myself I cringe!

Like Footlong said, you didn't notice it on the day so don't let it worry you now. After spending ages deciding my entrance music, I didn't even hear it as I was walking down the aisle.

I sounded dead posh on our video, H went out the room during his speech as he hates the sound of his own voice which is ridiculous.

Tell me about it! My mum mithered me for months before the wedding not to wear my hearing aids as I was having an up-do and my HAs are ugly (to be fair they are) so I didn't wear them - during the ceremony I had to lipread the registrar so have a dead serious 'concentrating' face on - H is smiling away happily, but I looked so pissed off (I wasn't, just concentrating)

After the ceremony, the video dude filmed us talking to H's mum via skype (we skyped the ceremony live to her in the States) and she wanted to see a close-up of my wedding ring, so I held my hand near the laptop's webcam and stupidly quipped "I feel like I'm showing you the finger here!" - captured forever on dvd :o(

My voice sounds horrible on tape - very Northern.

That said, I am glad we had it recorded - I couldn't hear the harpist on the day, but everyone said she was fantastic. I was glad I could finally hear her.

I think most people hate the way they sound or look on video...and if you did, you'd be right up your own @rse!!! We had music to our wedding vid, so that got round the cringey bits but the OH wasn't impressed with his crying being caught on camera ?

I decided not to have it filmed really (one person did get footage of the service) but nothing professional. Can honestly say I have never regretted that decision in the slightest. I have the footage of the service and have never watched it. Hiring a pro would have been a total waste of time IMO.

We didn't have a pro VOG LP, but Mr RB's uncle did a really good job. He's very into all of that. I've seen some amazing short videos though that have been really beautiful. If the budget had stretched, I would have been tempted to have one of the more artistic type VOGs I've seen.

ETA - I'm so pleased the speeches were filmed. My Dad's speech was fantastic!

    This is so true.

My uncle is also very into his cameras and technology and filmed our day. I speak like a a squeaky, posh mouse and do lots of knobbish faces, dances and funny walks. OH remains looking cool for the entire day.

I think my daft expressions shouldn't have come as a surpirse but I didn't realise I look like numpty so frequently!

Thanks Nutty one! He did such a good job! He filmed the ceremony too but the video consists of the entire ceremony so is about 20 minutes long.

He did get some footage of the reception too but my auntie is very poorly at the moment and so he hasn't put that together yet.

We had ours filmed and there was a few cringeworthy moments such as:

My mum walking up to the church with a face like thunder (though she did have to take photographer in with bridesmaids as no one else offered to take her)

The guests arriving with the groom and best man, all rumbling in together which looked bad.

SIL totally disinterested in the whole ceremony and on her phone when walking into the church. She hardly looked at us at all, even when we were saying our vows. Don't know why she came to be honest. This was all caught on camera.

And of course the famous Berky dress fault, there just to remind me lol.

There are some nice bits too lol.

Wow, I always wondered how such a small ceremony would work but I absolutley ❤️ this, love how everyone is sat on couches, and it's just so intimate and romantic!! Had to gulp quite a few times.

Love your reading too, the key to love one, might have to add that to my own shortlist.
