Thieving Barstewards!!!!!!!!!!!

Flowmojo, 3 April, 2012 at 10:03 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 30

?So, yesterday Mr F comes home from work and tells me his bikes been nicked from work. He bikes to and from work everyday so invested in a good bike costing around £350-£400. He has 2 mega sturdy locks on it..the ones that are solid metal U shaped...anyway, reports it to police and the guy on reception say he trawl through CCtv and let him know this morning.

Hes jus told me that the guy was found entering the carpark at 1:35pm yesterday, on a bike..rode in casually, stopped near his bike..in no hurry either..got a pair of metal cutters and a metal saw out of his backpack, proceeded again, casually, to cut the locks off and replaced Mr Fs bike with the crapheap he was on and rode away as if nothing had happpened!!?

The police have the cctv 9where you can apparently see the guys face clear as day!) but in all honesty, its not going to be returned is it...

Poor Mr F, this close to the wedding as well, hasnt got a spare few hundred to replace it!!!

Maaaan that is so sh*t. Lowest of the low ?

Its rubbish that you cant even rely on the item being found, even though the Police have got involved. Its not worth the manpower in most cases but that doesnt help the victim. Poor mr F.

Bah! That is very very rubbish indeed. Insurance? It's still a hassle though.

Sorry to hear that, Flow. Definitely worth claiming on your insurance. I think our excess for bikes is only £30 or something daft.

    Hope they catch him.

That's horrible Smiley sad Bike crime is a real problem in London. H used to lock his bike up at the top of the fire escape outside his flat (that was how you got into the flat too). To access it, you had to walk round the back of the building and go up two flights of stairs, so between that and the huge thick D-locks, you'd think it was safe, yeah? It was stolen one evening within half an hour of him getting home and locking it up (he realised when he took the rubbish out half an hour after getting in).

As and when he gets a new one, you can get bicycle insurance which covers things like theft. I got it for H's replacement bike and it was only about £7 a month.

My OH's was stolen from outside the flat where we used to live, it was secured using a D lock, and a regular bike chain. They just cut through them both. We called the police, who asked us to bring the locks into them for fingerprinting! My OH did this, and the officer on the reception virtually laughed in his face. The bike was only worth a couple of hundred quid, but it was still really inconvenient!

That's shocking, how brazen this git clearly was! Hope he gets caught.

My H also bikes to work, so just texted him to ask him to (a) buy insurance and (b) get better locks.

    Makes me so angry.....

We live near a canal and joy riders are constantly racing up and down. A neighbour rang police and was told ''''''' for health and safety reasons we cant chase them if they arn't wearing a helmet''''''

Then on sunday morning at 7.45 Mr LS was walking the dog he saw that a house had windows broken and the front door was kicked in. He got his phone out to ring the police and the lady in the house next door came out and told him she had already rang police when she heard the banging, , , 2 hours ago

Really sorry to hear that Flow. I like your suggestion of a new bike though! ?

OH had both his mountain bike and his racing bike stolen from the shared bike shed in our block of flats a couple of years ago. Stopped him doing his triathlons ☹️
