Wedding Day - Shoe Height? / Flash!

30 November, 2012 at 09:46 Posted on Planning 0 39

What shoe height are you going for? What shoe height do you normally wear?

I'm usually in flats but looking for a 4" heel. Although have fell in love with these which are 4.7"! Not sure my feet will cope though!

If you don't normally wear heels, I don't think you should get heels that high.

Sorry for the massive flash as on phone, these are my beauties from rainbow club, the heel is about 3 1/2 inches (9.25 cm). I have higher shoes than this that I wear all day so I hope a day in these will be ok.

I wore 5inch heels with a platform on my wedding day and I had them on from 11am - 8pm, took them off after our first dance. I was fine with them. I did walk around the house in them with socks on as much as I could to break them in though.

    Hiya!

Personally Id go for maybe 3inch if you can find any, although they are gorgeous! My OH is only like a couple of inches or so taller then me so im gettin 3inch heels so we'll be pretty much the same height but i cant find any nice ones so im getting some plain ones off ebay and sticking sparkles all over them!!

But then i do have a pair of white sparkly hi-top's to wear under my dress if my feet start hurting after the photos and what not lol x

I have quite a few inches to play with as oh is much taller than I but I just don't want to risk sore feet on the day. I shall be breaking them in with socks and taking a range of plasters just incase. I may even take a pair of old trusted shoes incase they start to hurt for dancing.

In my younger years I used to wear heels all the time, but I am a flats all the way now - that's why I had to break my shoes in.

I honestly don't get this at all. Your heights are your heights, not likely to change anytime soon, he's not going to walk round on his knees or bent over so why do you feel the need to raise your height just because he's so much taller?

As it happens me and OH are same heights as you and your OH. I rarely wear heels, don't want to wear total flats for wedding because I want a little bit of good posture so am wearing these:

Exactly. As Kharv said, if you're not used to heels, you shouldn't wear them. Like you say, a bride will be mingling and doing a lot more standing! You might end up sitting down for the majority of the day as they'll kill you - the front part of the underneath of your foot would feel like it's burning! 4.7" is a very tall heel for someone that's not used to walking around in them. If I were you I'd opt for a kitten heel or something, you'd be able to move around a lot easier. Also, you'll want to have a comfortable boogie on your wedding day. As for the height difference, you're together all the time when you're in your flats so why would you need something massively high on your wedding day? ?

Also, there is very little platform to that heel which means your feet will be positioned like Barbie ... that will not be comfortable for someone that isn't used to it.

I originally bought these bad boys:

They're about the same height as those flashed by the OP. I kept wearing them round the house, but found that I couldn't do more than about 10 mins of standing still in them before my feet began to hurt! Also, I was so worried that when I got changed into my converse for the evening, I would have loads of extra length on my dress that would drag on the floor!

    So I've now got these:

Much more practical I think! And far more comfortable!

I love those shoes Cupcake! I have a similar height heel for my wedding, and I genuinely think that platforms like these are much more comfortable than a lower shoe with no platform...but I know that everyone is different.

If you love them, go for it!

I wore small 1" heels for the daytime and was still dying to swop them for my flats for the evening! I wear heels on a night out for a couple of hours and it's fine but your wedding day is a long day and you want to be comfortable.

If you decide to go for them heels then I would suggest getting another lower pair for the evening.

I was worried about falling over or tripping in really high heels. I went with 3.5" heels, no embarrassing stumbles and I kept them on from 12.30-10pm. Not bad!

I really hate kitten heels in general, but I have them for Wday as I know my feel will be killing by dinner if i wear big heels (also, Oh is a shorty)

I think i found a pair that are a bit more 'me' than a lot of wedding shoes

These are mine. I love the look of high heels but it just wouldnt be practical, I cant even wear them for a couple of hours. I may even buy some cute flats to change into if my feet start to hurt in these. Definitely dont get high heels if you arent used to them, you will be doing a lot of standing and walking and your wedding day really shouldnt be full of pain.

To be honest I wouldn't get any that high for the wedding! Remember it's a long day and you will be on your feet a lot... I had some that high as a BM and they were cofy because when I looked back, I actually spent half the day sitting down! As a bride you're on your feet a lot more.

I got some shoes that were about the same height as that photo and loved them, theyw ere really sparkly and gorgeous, but when I stood next to OH (I'm 5"6 he's 6"4) it felt weird that I was that tall, as people are usually used to the big height difference! I decided it didn't look right and took them back and ended up with slightly smaller heels, prob about 3.5"

I kept mine on all day and all night!

I'm hoping I can find some nice flats for mine - I'm 6ft so very rarely wear heels anyway (plus OH is 5ft 8). Love how all the shoes posted look but it's just a shame most wedding shoes seem to have huge heels!

Last thing I want is to be moaning about how much my feet hurt on my wedding day.

I wore 4inch platforms and my feet were killing me! I diddnt have much choice in a tea length but if I had gone for a full length dress I would have worn much smaller heels or possibly converse Smiley smile

These are mine. Although at the mo they are a shade too big so am going to get some heel grips. Apart from that they are comfy. They have a small platform of just over 1/4 of an inch so although the heels are technically 3 and 1/4 inch, they only have the 'slope' of just under a 3 inch heel. I'm still going to get some ballet pumps or converse for the evening though, just to be on the safe side.

    Mine are these:

They're very comfy. I wear small heels to work every day, and these are a bit higher than my work shoes but not too bad.

I couldn't really have higher heels than that as OH isn't that much taller than me (5ft 8 to his 5ft 10), and I don't tend to wear super high heels anyway.

I will be in flats- me and OH are the same height so I don't want to 'dwarf him' (his words!) in heels at the altar! Will maybe have some heels for the evening just for the sake of it!

Cinnamon and Superduff I love your shoes (not that I don't like everyone elses too!!), but I really like different coloured shoes- mine are purple but don't have a flash atm cause they are at my mas.

Haha! I'm used to wearing heels of that height although admittedly since moving last month I haven't worn heels at all ... will have to dig out my ol' 5 inchers and mince around the flat in them to get some practice in. Also, at some point during the evening do, I'll be changing into an evening dress and flat shoes so I can get down and boogie like a good'un!

I had these tiny teeny heels, you can just see them where OH is holding my dress up... and they still hurt me by the evening, so switched to flats!

Mine are four inch peeptoe heels, which I know are going to absolutely kill me, but I "Splashed out" on a pair of ballerina pumps as I am planning on doing a lot of dancing. They are exactly the same colour as my dress, with a lovely little embellishment on the front to "wedding" them up a bit and they cost TWELVE POUNDS from Matalan - plus my dress is tea length, so ballerina flats will look quite smart.

Thanks Kjay! I don't often like proper bridal shoes, and decided to combine my shoes with the "something old, new, borrowed, blue". I dragged OH shopping with me, and made him stand next to me in the mirror when I tried all the shoes on. He wasn't massively impressed in the active participation element ?
