Wedding In August.. Have I left It Too Late????

Avril84, 11 January, 2013 at 11:24 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 16

Hi All,

I'm a newbie to this site but I feel I need a bit of motivation. Getting married the beginning of August and realistically want to lose 2 stone.. I'm worried that I've left it too late and wondering now whether or not to aim as high.

Just joined the gym and been doing really well with that so far and also been counting calories.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? What does anyone this the best way to go forward is??? I'm considering joining ww or sw but wondering if its worth the money??

Any advice/tips GRATEFULLY received!!!! ?

    You'll be fine!

Not sure when in August but I think you have at least 30 weeks which, if you lost 1lb a week is a little over 2 stone. Slow and steady means it'll stay off too! (Good for bikini body if you're having a honey moon!)

My wedding is is September, so not too far from yours and I plan to loose another two stone and put me just about into the top end of the 'normal' section on those BMI charts. (Lost two stone last year already so no longer in the obese category, just over weight)

I use MyFitnessPal to count calories and track exercise. This really helps to see where all the empty calories I've been eating come from! Portion control has always been my downfall. Now if I start to feel a little peckish I have a drink first, most of the time I'm actually thirsty without realising it. Drinking water (or squash) a little before and throughout your dinners fills you up and is also good for your skin. (Good for when all eyes will be on you on the day)

I used to go to the gym but have swapped it for bootcamp. It made me realise how I was taking it easy at the gym and barely working up a sweat. Bootcamp is hard work but fun and our group is not military based at all. In the group, lthough everyone is at different fitness levels, they are all encouraging. I'm even getting my ankles back! I've also just signed up for 'Mucky races' which is a 5k 'race' with mud pits and assault course! Crazy to think now, but I used to hate exercise!

In the past Ive done WW and got a little past my 10% goal so I'd say they work if you can stick to them. To me though it was spend money on gym/bootcamp or WW, I couldn't afford both. I decided the gym/bootcamp would help tone me up so the gym 'won'.

This forum is great for motivation too though (Just picture yourself in your wedding dress for one thing) so regularly pop back on here and someone will offer kind words when you have a wobble.

Oh and 30 day shred DVD is very popular. I do it when I have time instead of the actual plan of very day for 30 days, but it is very good. A good way to get some exercise in if your diet has slipped on that pizza you know shouldn't have had but looked oh so yummy! Hmmmm dominos!!!! *snaps out of it* Sorry about that.Dominoes and cinema popcorn have been banned to only very special occasions now. LOL

I think 1lb loss per week is easily achievable. I'm planning on doing the exact same for my holiday in August :-)

My fitness pal and kettlebells and you will be perfect for your wedding day. I did that and lost 4 stone in about three months. Nothing too mental, just exercise, I don't really drink and cut out all the crap from my diet and fizzy juice.

You will be fine Smiley smile

    Hi ladies,

I am also new to this and also getting married in August. Definitely feeling I have also left it a bit late and would love to lose at least two stone!

I have just set myself up on MyFitnessPal would it be ok if I added you all to help keep my motivation going?

Has anyone found certain gym exercises work better than others for weight loss and toning? I am going to start doing some spin and body pump classes at my local gym together with calorie counting and hopefully I will start to see results.

Kicking myself that I have left it this late!!

I am early September and have just really started to get my motivation. I have just done Day 4 of 30 minute shred and I aim to visit the gym twice a week or more to either do a class or just do my own workout.

I started counting calories but I find it actually makes me worse so have given up and am just being sensible about what I am eating. I aim to lose around 5kg so I think I will easily manage that.

You have plenty of time to lose the weight you want to lose. Exercise and healthy eating will get you there. At least you haven't left it until last minute. If you need advice shifting the last few llbs or kick starting your weight loss I am happy to help.

Hi. I am getting married 31 August and really worried I have left it too late to shed some weight. Ideally I need to lose 2 stone. I meant to diet since New Year but family and work problems have kind of side tracked that. I am off to see a Personal Trainer Saturday for an hour's session and then aim to go to the Gym four times a week (one session with PT) and cut out all the junk I have been snacking on. Currently weiging in at 10 stone 9 and only 5ft tall. Does anyone think it's achievabel to lose two stone in 20 weeks? Thanks

    Hi Avril84,

I have always been curvy and am constantly trying to lose weight. I decided last year to do a total lifestyle change and whilst I am not totally strict with myself it has worked. I am 38lbs off and only 29lbs to go. I used a mix of weight watchers for the diet, walking and gym for the exercise and Zaggora products for that extra kick. I am also doing it for charity - I can just never seem to do it for me. I am blogging about it too which I think helps because I am forced to write everything down. (www.lbsforpounds.wordpress.com)

In addition I got some www.Zaggora.com products so whether I was wearing them to the gym, to the housework or even just to the office I am burning extra calories. I am now an Ambassador so feel free to use my discount code to get 10% off anything you purchase. I won't lie - I do earn a commission but a minimum 50% of my commission goes to my charity (Help For Heroes) so it is worth it. My code if you did want to use it is ILBS4£S

Good luck and be sure to let us all know what you are doing and how it is working out for you. Oh and have a truly amazing Wedding Day!

    Kindest regards,

    xXx Carrena xXx

Hi, do a 4:3 fasting plan (4 days eating normally, 3 days eating only a 500 cal meal (600 for men). You'll see results really quick and also be doing lots of good things to your health besides weight loss. You can also continue going to the gym (I play football on fasting days and still have the same energy levels as on a non-fasting day)

Check out this forum for more info: www.fasting-forward.com

4 stone in 3 months?! Wow, well done you!! I have just over 6 weeks until I go to Majorca for my hen weekend & I'm struggling to lose weight. I've basically yo yo'd all year & haven't even got back to my pre Xmas weight yet! I feel awful & am dreading baring all on the beach. If I could get rid of a stone over the next 6 weeks I know I'd feel lots better. Would you mind telling me how often you do the kettlebells & for how long? I use Myfitnesspal to track my calories too as I struggle to stick to things like WW & SW.

Did you know you an get a doctors referral to weight watchers for 3 months of free meetings. I'm doing it at the moment as well as using a cheap gym. As I also need to lose the same as you but for the mid of August.
