Planning is going well, I think I'm mostly done now just doing the final touches. Some days I'm really stressed but mostly i'm ok. We had a planning meeting a few weeks ago now and it was great. Crondon were really good and emailed us the next day to confirm everything we agreed. It's a shame we can't taste the food but they did give us some canapes and let me taste the differernt wines I'd ordered. We have decided to go for the Balmoral menu (£5 extra) and have chosen the cheese, tomato and red onion tart for starter, then chicken in parma ham and red wine sauce and for dessert cheesecake. They have been really good with the dietary requirements as i'm gluten free and we have had a few nut/dairy allergies. We chose the unlimited premium wine for the wedding breakfast but not having unlimited all night.
Have you had your meeting? I'm sure it will go well. I was really pleased to see that they have repaved the road up to the venue. No more gravel! Hurrah! :-)
I'm a bit peed off regarding the potatoes and veg tbh. I know it's says chefs choice of potatoes but I thought by now the chef would know what he's choosing! But no, it's decided on the day apparently which I find ridiculous, so despite parting with a whole load of money, they are deciding what were having for dinner!! Not happy about this at all
I'm glad they reassured you!I'm at that finalising guest list stage daytime/evening...we are doing very well and I'm surprised I'm not as stressed as I thought I would be...and I've still got 5 months to go!yours must be just round the corner now, eeeeek!
well I have 8 days left until the big day. Is anyone before me? I'm so nervous. I've got my dress home as of yesterday which makes it all seem real.
i think I have everything under control, I'm still waiting for the weight to fall off me like everyone said it would in these last 2 weeks, I can only assume I'm supposed to so nervous that I can't eat, but i seem to be the opposite!!
I knowwwww, 4 days left and I'm actually the most chilled I've been for weeks. Still don't have suits sorted out with Moss ( that's another long and dreadful story) but hopefully that will be sorted out by tomorrow, fingers crossed.
i should really be doing a bit of house work as I'm dreading the photographer catching some horror of a mess that I didn't get round to tidying!!
it was amazing! but I'm sat in bed now, my husband (lol) has gone to work and I have a bad case of the post wedding blues.
anyway, back to how lovely it was......everyone absolutely loved Crondon, all my guests were saying what a stunning venue, it looked beautiful and feels really different when the flowers on the table are yours, and the cake is yours (having popped in previously before other peoples weddings for a look).
ill try and flash a couple of pics, not sure if they'll be massive (think they are!)
feel free to ask anything. All I want to do is talk weddings! X
Wow so beautiful! Congrats! I'd like to know about food too!!! And also what sort of time did you have your church ceremony? Did your guests arrange their own transport between the two? Thanks!! Xx
we had canapés on the day, they went down a treat as everyone was starving. There was some vege spring rolls, goats cheese, salmon I think, strawberry and cream. Possibly some others but I can't remember.
We had melon for starter which was nice, and a warm lemon pie type dessert which was nice.
I have mentioned in a previous post that the the menus state chefs choice of potatoes and vegetables, which I wish I had noticed long ago! So we knew we were getting chicken with a white wine and mushroom sauce, with chefs choice of potato and veg.......which turned out to be new potatoes, broccoli and carrot. I keep typing and deleting as I don't want to be negative but I found those choices of potato and veg very boring and I was disappointed. In my opinion there is no effort or cooking skill required for a new potato
The crondon service at dinner was excellent, really synchronised and professional and all the staff were really polite and did their jobs well.
we got married at 1.30, the ceremony was so fast even the wedding car driver commented on it. We stayed outside the church for a while chatting and people were taking photos (we didn't have any formal line ups) and then we made our way to crondon. Our aim was to get there for 3 but I think some guests got there earlier. We were hoping everyone would be in the gardens but for some reason (I think they were all assuming they would be seated straight away) they were mainly all near the cake table area. Everyone came out in the end and we had a lovely drinks reception. Some of the children were really hungry by the time we sat for dinner at 4.15, even after eating loads from the sweetie table!
It really was a lovely day and if you want to know anymore I'm happy to help as I used to bombard Jess55 with questions after she got married in April. X
My wedding is now over but I wanted to come back on here to let everyone know how the day went. Crondon were amazing, they were all very professional and everything ran like clockwork. I was dubious about the food as there is no tasting offered but I want to reassure any new brides that you do not need to be. We had lots of different allergies (including myself who is gluten free) and they catered brilliantly for us all. We had the cheese, tomato and red onion tart for start, then the chicken in parma ham with new potatoes and vegetables and then the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake for dessert. They even did a gluten free cheesecake for me. All of my guests commented on how quickly the food was served and that it was all hot when they received it - this can be rare for a party of 80 people.
On the day you are unaware of the time unless you wear a watch but Crondon kept everything at the times I asked them to at. The venue itself is stunning but the people working really did make the day amazing but being so professional.
The resident DJ has been given a lot of bad press on here but we had him and everyone said how brilliant he was. He played a variety of music like asked, he took requests from adults and kids and just made the evening an absolute ball! I would recommend him to anyone who is getting married there.
Overall we had an amazing day and were so happy with everything. The bridal room was very handy as well to keep things in and to have a few minutes peace to yourself.
Ladies, it sounds fantastic - I'm getting more and more excited! Just want to see everything together now!
H2B and I have been racking our brains for Questions to ask Crondon and I thought I'd pop a few on here just in case anyone has any ideas?
WARNING: some silly questions involved! hehe ?
Re: Food - does the soup include a roll or does that come as extra (wouldn't surprise me!) Anyone go for the bacon/sausage rolls in the evening - what were they like and were there loads?
Re: Bar -closed during service - but do those wanting soft drinks get served? Is the bar open during reception drinkies?
Hiya you lucky girls who haven't had the fun yet !! Didn't have the soup but we got a dinner roll with the starter (someone previously said to me that if you get the 3 course the roll isIncluded, if you get the 2 course it's extra! But I don't know about this. We had the 3 course and we got a roll each,
we didn't have the bacon rolls, we had the baronial buffet, I didn't even have a but but heard it was ok!
we were married in church, arrived at 3pm, and had drinks reception till 4.30. We had the reception drinks, some beer, some Pimms . A few kids wanted coke but I said no as didn't want to open the flood gates and told those kids to have a water!!
ask away with any questions I'm so happy to answer xxx
Cant help with the bacon sausage question I'm afraid, we had the baronial buffet.
most of our guests had their own transport but I'm a control freak and couldn't bear tk think of anyone without a lift. So I got taxi bus for the few friends who travelled by train (I've been that person with no lift ) I paid in advance and then sat in my weddin car saying 'I'm not leaving till the taxi bus turns up!)
im im actually jealous of you guys with you weddings to look forward to. Xx
I hope it's included my quote! It says coffee is included....H2B wants coffee! I'm hoping tea is also offered!
We are canapé debating now...we get married at Crondon at 2.30pm so I'm hoping people won't be too hungry otherwise it's £600+ on the total ?
How did people find drinks in the meal? Can those who don't drink wine get to the bar or the waiters do at least? We are having wine and some beer on tables...seriously considering getting tap water involved too!!!!i am determined to stick to my budget - still got to get a Videographer out of it yet too....
How did everyone get on with dropping off their stuff the day before/telling Crondon what/where and how to do things?
I am getting married in 2016 at Crondon and have just read through this thread, and it has been really useful. However so far one bad and one good post regarding the resident DJ, which leaves me still undecided.
Is there any other brides that used the resident DJ?
Also were the lights/lighting effects good? Thinking for 1st dance if there are twinkly spot lights that light up the walls and floor like I have seen in some photos?
I havent had my wedding yet but i have booked the Resident DJ & was a bit disheartened after hearing some negatives about him & was seriously thinking about cutting my losses and looking for someone else. However, recently ive spoken to 3 people that have not too long ago had the Resident DJ at Crondon & not one of them had a bad word to say about him all came with Praise saying he was brilliant ! So im sticking with him
I was married at Crondon on 17th August and everything was great. I had the resident DJ and he was brilliant, he played any song guests requested and downloaded the ones he didn't have on the spot. I would definately recommend him. We had the basic canapes and they went down brilliantly with our guests, everyone commented on how nice they were. We had the unlimited premium drinks package and after the meal i was impressed that the waitresses put the bottles that were either full or half full on the table near the bar for people to help themselves. The only thing I would suggest to mention to Crondon is with the drinks reception (after the ceremony) nobody walked around with bottles to top up people's bubbly so guests were paying for drinks at the bar instead. All in all Crondon was brilliant. I know they don't do a food tasting but I have to say that the food was amazing and so many people have commented. My particular favourite was the cheesecake, i'm gluten free and they did one for me too.
